  1. I try and go to delis where they only have Boar's Head. There is a deli a couple blocks from me at work that all their cold cuts are BH, and when they make my lettuce wrap they put down a couple sheets of paper on the counter so nothing touches it. I think the guys in there all hate the me (I don't think they don't believe me that I'm not just on some crazy...
  2. Oh yes...corn!! I mean you would think I didn't even chew the damn thing. Sometimes lettuce, but that is hit or miss, and it's usually atleast shredded on the way out. LOL!
  3. I don't think I've had any problems with onions, but roasted red peppers... now we're not friends.
  4. I noticed from that Celiac Society menu post that Burger Kind has Low Carb style burgers on their menu that they will put in a lettuce cap. I used to love Burger King burgers with lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup and lots of pickles. I know everything else with that is ok, but does anyone know if their pickles are gluten-free?
  5. YAY!! Tell John the rainbow cookie girl wants pizza!!!
  6. I'm there I really hope John can do the pizza for us. I'm dying to try his. Maybe get a pizza for everyone to share along with our entrees (I have big eyes. You'll be rolling me out the door. LOL)!! I'm bringing a +1 (non-celiac).
  7. Lollie don't worry; I eat out well pretty much every day. I never bring my lunch to work, I get food at our cafeteria or a local place every day. Granted I stick to basics like salads, or grilled chicken with veggies from the salad bar... but it's still not food I made. A lot of times I think maybe I'm not as cautious as I should be, but to be honest, maybe...
  8. I like the Envirokid Berry Bars. It's more of a chewy "granola" bar. I used to love the Nature Valley hard granola bars, but I haven't found anything like that I like. I find these are good for a quick snack.
  9. I would never cheat. For starters the consequences are not worth it at all, both the physical aspect of it, and also knowing what it is doing to my insides. There is no food that would be worth that to me. When I was diagnosed, I had a pity party for a couple of days and then just accepted that a gluten free diet is what my body needs. I have never even had...
  10. I have a couple of the Bette Hagman cookbooks, but I actually prefer to just use a "normal" cookbook and substitute the ingredients accordingly.
  11. I'm craving spinach quiche all of a sudden. Does anyone have a pie crust they'd like to reccomend? Thanks.
  12. I know Hebrew National is safe also.
  13. OMG I'm starting to drool!! If you tell him one of the people is the girl with the rainbow cookies, he'll remember me. Let us know what John says about Saturday. I would love to try the pizza!! Thanks Amanda.
  14. No wonder we get along so well.. Ketel One with 7 and lemon (or lime) for me.
  15. Yeah I can do a Saturday. Or should we maybe try for a Wednesday and that way we can partake in gluten-free pizza night?!!! Maybe Deb would like to join since she is in E. Islip, and I know CeliaCruz would like to join also.
  16. Yeah next week isn't really good for me either. I could maybe do the week after. I'd kinda prefer to do a Friday if that's ok with everyone. I know CeliaCruz wants to join also. Thoughts? I'm practically drooling at the thought of that chicken parm... Mmmmmmmmm!!!

    ARCHIVED Chillis

Wow!!! Thanks for letting us know. I knew that some people had e-mailed them and gotten responses about what was safe, but it's so much better when there is a menu on location. I feel that much safer.
  18. Hi Kari. Thanks for your post. I actually always tip atleast 20% even prior to being diagnosed with celiac, but now I certainly go out of my way to thank my server and tip a bit extra if I feel they really went out of their way for me. If I can express my gratitude, they know their efforts were appreciated and that can only help a fellow diner, or myself...
  19. I second that!!! If you want to eat the fries, eat the fries. If you don't want to eat the fries, don't eat the fries. If you're not sure... get a milkshake while you ponder your decision. And just please don't sue!!! How much more can we possibly say about this?
  20. Well we stopped in Manhassett first to get Chris's brother, and then made a few more stops, but it probably would have take us a little over an hour. You definately have to go there next time you're home. Or maybe one night we can take the train out together from the city after work/school. It's a long train ride, but worth it!!!
  21. THANKS!! (and thank you for the e-mail also). Glad I just bought a brand new wok.
  22. Betty Crocker is not gluten-free, but Pillsbury is.
  23. For steak sauce I use A1 and Lea and Perrins Worchestire. For BBQ sauce I use Sweet Baby Rays. I believe Kraft is also ok, but I like Sweet Baby Rays better. Enjoy!
  24. I use the Tinkyada Elbow noodles and take the cheese packet from the Kraft Mac n' Cheese all the time. Tastes perfect.. It is definately one of my favorite comfort foods. If you're in NY Risotteria has incredible pizza. Looking forward to trying Mama's pizza too. Especially after the incredible chicken parmigiana I had there yesterday. I also like...
  25. Yesterday when I was at Mama's Italian restaurant I asked John if he could make gluten free rainbow cookies. He told me that there was a bakery in Westbury, NY that had them but couldn't remember the name, but there was a health food store in Wantagh that carries them. Well ofcourse that is exactly where we went right after we left his restaurant. I...
