I am so thrilled to hear all the great news Lollie!!! I have been wondering how your mom was doing since last night. And I'm so happy to hear how the baking turned out. Next time they'll be begging you to make those cupcakes Like you said, maybe she was just crabby because she didn't feel well. Whatever it was, it seems she's back in your corner...

ARCHIVED How Long Will My gluten-free Baked Goods Keep?
jkmunchkin replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hey Floridanative - Like someone else said, I haven't tried the vanilla Namaste cake mix but the chocolate is incredible!!! And yeah I also get the Duncan Hines frostings. I think it's only the Whipped flavors that are not ok. Next time you go to Whole Foods, try the gluten-free Bakehouse Carrot Cake with the Duncan Hines Cream Cheese frosting. Yummy... -

ARCHIVED Foods By George - No Rye, Rye English Muffins
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've heard a lot of people rave about this brand but hadn't tried anything till this morning. I had the Pecan Tart, which is awesome!!! If you like Pecan Pie, you will never be able to tell the difference between. That said, I was at Mrs. Green's today and saw the No Rye, Rye English muffins and figured if the Pecan Tart was so good I'd give this a try... -

ARCHIVED It's My 1 Year Anniversary Of Gluten-free
jkmunchkin replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, congratulations!! I think you should celebrate with a gluten-free cake.. and put one of those silly multi-colored candles shaped like a 1 that you put in kids cakes!! -
I've never heard of this; it sounds awesome!! I'm a big fan of butternut squash with insanely unhealthy amounts of butter. I'm definately going to give this a try. Thanks!

Good to hear!! I actually just left myself a voicemail at work so I remember to call for my results on Monday. I forgot to do it today.

ARCHIVED Sauce For Wings
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So I went and bought a fryer tonight. I ended up getting the Delonghi rectangular metal one. Now I just need a good sauce for the wings I want to make. I don't want to make my own sauce, and I'm a total spice weenie. (in other words, spicy food and I are not friends so I need the girly sauce - lol)!! Anyone have a favorite they want to reccomend? -
Good for you!!! It really put a smile on my face to read that. Let us know how it goes. If you can't find the Namaste cake mix, I've also used the Gluten Free Pantry one which is really good. And I've heard of people using like a cherry yogurt to give it a little extra zing.

Screw letting them let you make the cake, just make one!!!! And when they see it can taste just as good as their gluten filled cake maybe it will help them accept it a tad more that you are just doing what your body needs and this doesn't make you a lepper(sp?). I highly reccomend Namaste chocolate cake mix. Nobody will know the difference. Good luck!!!

Hey Lollie, I'm sorry to hear your mom is reacting this way, when obviously you want and need her support. I guess the best I can suggest is let your husband and all of us be your support. It's difficult when someone you would count on automatically to help you through this doesn't react the way you would hope or expect, but unfortunately you're put yourself...

ARCHIVED Deep Fryer
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks guys! I'm glad to hear the feedback on the Frydaddy. I've heard from some people to get that one, and other people hate it. I think I'll pass on that one. Anyone know anything about the Delonghi one? I know someone that got that for Christmas and likes it, but it's on the pricier side so I'd love another opinion. -

ARCHIVED Cake Mix
jkmunchkin replied to jtangema's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I second the Namaste chocolate cake mix. It is the absolute best. If given the choice I would eat this over any of the "normal" brands like Duncan Hines. -
ARCHIVED Deep Fryer
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been craving wings for awhile now, and I know some poeple have listed a couple of restaurants that have wings that are ok for us to eat, but none of them are really near me and I think I'd just rather make my own. Anyone have any reccomendations for a deep fryer? -
Good news!!! I just learned that Royal Carribean now offers gluten-free meals!!! You need to e-mail them 45 days in advance of your cruise. Go to their main website, and in the FAQ section it gives you the information you need to provide them with in order for them to accomodate you. Congratulations and have a great time!

Yeah it's kinda like a charlie horse, but not really. It's that same concept of sharp shooting pain, but it not like a tightening of the muscle like you feel with a charlie horse. It feels more like someone is twisting my bones. And yeah it will be an intense pain for like 15 seconds or so and then back to normal. It's not something I really plan on...

ARCHIVED I E-mailed The Writer On The Mcdonald's Trans Fat Article
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I wanted let everyone know that I e-mailed the writer of the article that was released yesterday regarding McDonald's fries and that the trans fat was now being reported higher than before. I let him know that there was infact a larger issue to this story... which ofcourse we all know very well by now! Anywhoo, he responded back to me basically saying... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
jkmunchkin replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
ROTFLMAO!!! -
I'm wondering if anyone else gets this. It may be completely random but just figured I'd ask and see if anyone else has this happen and maybe it is somehow related to celiac disease. The last few weeks I suddenly get these intense, sharp shooting pains in my foot, almost like I twisted or sprained the bones in my foot. It only lasts for a few seconds and...
