Does anyone know if the duck sauce that they have in Chinese restaurants is gluten-free? Yesterday one of my coworkers wanted to get Chinese food for lunch. ALthough I was worried I said ok. Thankfully the waiter passed on my request to make sure the wok and utensils they used to cook my food were washed thoroughly and I had no reaction to my tasteless steamed...

ARCHIVED Anyone In Md Or East Coast?
jkmunchkin replied to KaitiUSA's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Dani - if you need a wedding planner I'm still in the whole planning mode so ask any questions you want - hehehe!!! No but seriously, where I work we have more engaged girls than you can possibly imagine. I'm already helping 1 of my good friends with her wedding. She literally has recruited me as her planner. I had the most amazing vendors so if you... -
ARCHIVED Anyone In Md Or East Coast?
jkmunchkin replied to KaitiUSA's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I live in NY - just outside of the city, but work in the city. I'm 28, and just got married a couple weeks ago. I work as a business manager for a magazine - which basically consumes the majority of my life, but for fun I like to go to concerts (preferably hard rock and heavy metal - you would never know by looking at me that is what I listen to). I'm... -
ARCHIVED Need Help From Those In Canada
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I live in NY, but my husband is in Toronto on business until Friday morning. To be completely honest I have no idea what made him go into a supermarket (because he never goes at home), but nevertheless he did and called to ask me if I had any feedback on a few products that looked potentially gluten-free. Since I'm not there to read ingredients I was hoping... -

ARCHIVED Godiva Hot Chocolate
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if Godiva's Hot Chocolate is gluten-free? I know they don't consider their chocolate gluten-free, yet the Godiva Cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory is gluten-free so I wasn't sure about the hot chocolate mix? -
ARCHIVED Kosher Gluten Free Cooked Food In Ny Brooklyn
jkmunchkin replied to stk's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I can't help you in Brooklyn, however my dad owns kosher restaurants in Yonkers and Hartsdale, NY (Westchester County). Although there are still many foods I can't eat there we have found that tons of their food is infact gluten-free. The majority of their soups are gluten-free. Chicken Rice, Potato, Chicken Florentine, Split Pea and Lentil. The goulash is... -
Oh and the site Lori was referring to that will deliver gluten-free Challah is Everbody Eats Inc. I haven't tried the challah yet but my assistant ordered me the brownies for my birthday and they were amazing!!!

Not sure where you live but my family owns kosher restaurants in NY. Although they haven't started to make special gluten-free versions of stuff, we have determined a lot of their mainstream items (inlcuding most of their soups) are gluten-free. Let me know if you live in the NY area and I'll give you the info.

ARCHIVED Anyone Know Of A Good Gf Cream Of Brocoli Soup
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've totally been craving this. I thought I read somewhere that the Brocoli soup at Pizzeria Uno is gluten-free?? If anyone know of a brand I can buy in the store or a chain restaurant that has a gluten-free version; that would be great. -
ARCHIVED Wedding Cake
jkmunchkin replied to sdore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not sure where you're from but I believe there are several places in NYC that will make a wedding cake and ship it. The 2 I can think of right away are Happy, Happy Happy and Babycakes. I am actually getting married next week and rather than order a gluten-free wedding cake, my catering hall is making a regular cake and making the top tier a cheesecake... -

jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Wow thank you guys so much for all of this info!!! I really appreciate it. I am definately going to try and get to Huggo's and the Volcano one you mentioned. As for Bubba Gump's, I know everyone talks about that being there but to be honest I live in NY and work in Times Square in Manhattan. There is a Bubba Gump's literally a block away from me and I... -
ARCHIVED Hawaii (big Island) & Maui
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Wow thanks so much for your help (and the well wishes)!!! We're staying at the Marriott but are renting a car so it doesn't have to be right by the hotel. I heard Roy's is pretty accomodating and ate there once before on a trip to Florida. Other than that though I don't really know of any restaurants that would be good for me and figure I can only eat... -
I am going on my honeymoon to Hawaii (the Big Island) & Maui in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone has suggestions for gluten-free eating. TIA.

ARCHIVED Premier Japan Ginger Tamari
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had heard the ginger tamari from Premier Japan was gluten free and have used it several times without a problem but then I happened to look at the bottle today and it says it has wheat in it. However there are litte asterisks next to where it says wheat so not sure what that is supposed to mean. Does anyone know if this is not gluten-free? -
ARCHIVED Wholefoods Gfpantry Banana Bread...
jkmunchkin replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah their banana bread is definately great. I was in there the other day and they had sample of a chocolate rasberry loaf that was also excellent. I'm thinking some vanilla frosting and instant cake : ) -
I used to eat there all the time (love the French onion soup and fries), but now I don't know if I can eat there at all. Anyone have any experiences there?

I went to Asia de Cuba years ago when they first opened but to be honest I don't even remember what I had. I remember likeing it but chocolate cake could definately persuade me to go back regardless (lol)!!! That's really good to know about Nobu, definately another great option. Thanks guys!!! -
ARCHIVED Anyone Ny Metro Area.. Need Restaurant Suggestion
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Yeah I had this list and was maybe thinking of doing Asia de Cuba, but I don't really love that place and I'm not sure the others really work for the occassion. I used to love Sambuca and that could work, but I remember you mentioning their gluten-free food wasn't that great. Thanks celiac3270. P.S. I went to Rissoteria again the other night. I... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Ny Metro Area.. Need Restaurant Suggestion
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Ok I need this night out like a hole in the head (I'm moving the same week as the party), and to be honest I'm so not in to the whole idea of a cheesy bachleorette party but my best friend has been living for this since I got engaged. I need to find a restaurant in the city that will be fun (fun being the operative word, not cheesy - everyone has been... -

ARCHIVED Cheesecake Factory Spinach Dip
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
They don't have a gluten-free menu but I have heard they are very helpful and accomodating if you ask for a manager and explain your restrictions.
