ARCHIVED What Are You Growing This Year?
GF Lover replied to alex11602's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This has turned into an episode of Grizzly Adams. All the shooting, killing, feasting, snakes, large furry monsters. And I thought my green worm monsters were horrifying enough. I do applaud you guys for protecting what is yous. I just won't come creeping around eating raspberries -

ARCHIVED Starving After Starting Thyroid Meds
GF Lover replied to SleepyBunny's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You should both have it checked. It can start by just effecting the amount of cortisol being produced but can get serious without diagnosis. As an autoimmune disease, it has a whole host of symptoms that overlap with most immune diseases. You should have the test right away. Read up on addison's disease. I hope this helps -
ARCHIVED Starving After Starting Thyroid Meds
GF Lover replied to SleepyBunny's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Regarding your cortisone level. Have you been tested for Addison's. It is also an auto-immune disease that attacks the adrenal glands thus effecting cortisol levels throughout the body. It is usually overlooked as a normal thing to test for. My husband was in the hospital for 10 days before they diagnosed him with a simple blood test. He was close to... -
ARCHIVED Powerade
GF Lover replied to RonSchon's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ron. I think the very same thing happened to me. It was the red powerade in the bigger size. It wasn't as intense as a food glutening but still knew something bad happened. This was around a month ago I think. I can drink the grape one with no problem. It's a mystery. -
Gonna have some down time.

My Doc is also looking at my one of my meds I take. He is very suspicious because my symptoms are disproportionately more severe than the lung damage would warrant. The med is Zonegran. It is the one that helps with the skin pain of fibro. And I started it when the symptoms became severe. I just remembered this very recently. My Doc told hubs during...

ARCHIVED Hot Enough For You?
GF Lover replied to Darn210's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I found a spot to park in the shade today at the Docs office, then had to use my inhaler to walk that much further to the door Yesterday I had an hour to wait between getting nuke material injected and then the scan, I waited in the car so I could recline. Left side leg and forearm sunburn My shoe heels get stuck on the asphalt by my mailbox... -
ARCHIVED Dairy Free
GF Lover replied to lewiss's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had never had a problem with dairy (that I knew of) until a couple months after going gluten free. I can have a little bit of sharp cheddar at this point but I'm not pushing anything else till I know for sure I'm good with the cheese. Good luck -
I received my results today from my cardiologist. I have diminished lung capacity, BUT, since I have smoked my last cig a week ago, I have in effect stopped the progress of this Obstructive Lung Disease. AND it is reversible!! My heart is perfect, I was just not getting enough oxygen when stressed. So now I keep using my inhaler and re-test in ...

ARCHIVED Glutened By Dentist Or New Allergy?
GF Lover replied to Adalaide's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes if you stagger your meds, take the pain then after 2 hours take the anti. It could just be the two together doing it. They could also be reacting with Topomax. You should check. I hope you feel better. -
Well, in the last couple weeks I've had a Pulmonary Function test, an Echocardiogram, the Holter Monitor and today the stress test. I collapsed on the treadmill so they had to do it chemically, ugh. Today the nurse doing the heart stressing said I had an episode of ischemia. Something to do with arteries and not enough oxygen. Anyway, I see my...

ARCHIVED A Bit Of Lighthearted Celiac Humor
GF Lover replied to GlutenFreeAustinite's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OMG. The heat is getting to be too much for me. If I step out with the dogs, I can't breathe and my limbs get weak. It hit 100 again today. Hey. I had a yummy dinner. I had leftover chicken, leftover rice, leftover baby red potatoes. I mixed it all together on my plate, nuked it then shredded a bit of cheddar on top. Not bad eh? That's cooking... -

He is really good about de-crumbling himself. It's the kitchen he has trouble with. It's understandable because he has always cooked and I always clean up. -

  I sooooooooo needed that. -
Your making me cry but it's a good cry. This has been the first time in my life that I have not felt so alone. So few people in my life understand how painful things can get. I know that it's gonna keep getting better. I have already had some improvement in some of my back muscles. I have always felt that fibro is another catchall, just like IBS. ...

I have rash squares where the adhesive pads were and she had also put a strip of tape over them. When she ripped it off I actually screamed. When I like millions of others, was diagnosed with fibro, it was for pain from pressure on my skin. I haven't been able to use a bar of soap in the shower in years. It was so excruciatingly painful when she...

Dried pine needles? I can't knit, tried needlepoint - nope. My calling is actually art. I love to draw, write poetry and photography. I haven't been drawing for awhile, my wrists have been bothering me. My poetry has to strike me, I can't do it on demand. My last photograph collection was lost when hubs got a nasty virus and had to re-format...

So I'm saying to myself, of course those brownies are low fat. . Okay, I'll start lowfat now! Thank you so much for your offer IH, it means so much to me. Hubs is at golf league but will be back soon. I told him earlier that we had to get intimate tonight, only for purposes of symptoms experienced during that time to be recorded on the monitor...

Ugh. Day 3 has been a tough one. First thing, I'm off to get my echocardiogram. Have to admit it looked really neat on the screen. Then wired up with the Holter monitor, a total pain in my assets The cravings have been ridiculous today. I have this thing going that when I get a craving, I go thru the house and change the position of the wood blinds...

ARCHIVED How Do You Fight The Temptation To Cheat?
GF Lover replied to Sage122's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Bart is right. After a time, all those goodies won't look so good anymore. My Hubs can sit next to me and eat pizza and chocolate chip cookies and I swear, it does not tempt me at all. You need to mentally accept the fact that gluten is poison to you and your not interested. Since your parents are health nuts, there should be plenty of fruits... -

Hi Brook. Welcome to the forum! All I can say about your symptoms is that getting that appointment at your GP is a great idea. Someone else may have some more ideas for you. Good luck!
