  1. Both of my parents were alcoholics and so I watch how much I drink and how often. Not very often at all. I have found that since I went gluten-free almost 2 1/2 years ago, that I cannot hold my wine or anything. I could only have one drink with dinner when we went out. Two glasses of wine on an empty stomach and I am totally blitzed. I am glad that you...
  2. I am so glad that the doctor appt. went well. I understand about the blowing by Jim. They do feel helpless and they don't know how they can help. I have Pete do several small errands a week and that helps. That is great that you are going to do small day trips. Pete was upset because today's nurse was very concerned about my weight loss. He tells me...
  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOONA. And I agree with Rachel, I also thought you were in your thirties.
  4. I am praying for your appt. this morning. Just breath deeply and think calming thoughts. HUGS.
  5. Thanks Rachel. As soon as I am well from this, I will make an appt. with my GP and get an order for the compounding pharmacy.
  6. Tanya, I also marked Wednesday for prayers. Many Hugs.
  7. Rachel, I wrote down the name of the drug you have started to take. My GP will send someone to a compounding pharmacy that is located about 30 minutes from me. I know you have told what this is expected to do for you, but could you clarify for my pea brain. Would this drug help calm my allergies so that I can eat out again. I am still going to not cook...
  8. That is so great that your friend got you an appointment for tomorrow morning. July 7th is just to long to wait. You are right, what goes around, comes around. I can't believe that she called him in surgery. I am nervy, but not that nervy. I am glad that she was and cares so much for you. KEEP YOUR LEG UP. Love and many Hugs, for more progressive healing...
  9. Tanya, I don't know what to say. I am praying for Megan, you and your family. Just please know that we will give you all the emotional support that cyberspace can give. Many PRAYERS & HUGS.
  10. I am sorry that no one has answered your question. People will be doing so shortly, so bear with us. You should be consuming the equivalant of 3 slices of bread a day for 3 to 6 months before you test. Many on here just went gluten free and did not get the official diagnosis of Celiac. They just wanted to be well. There are 5 tests that are ordered and...
  11. Yes, it is. You can never have a false positive, but you can have a false negative. Many doctors still think of the biopsy as the gold standard. The problem with it, is if he does not take enough biopsies from the right areas, then the test can be negative. I only had the blood test and never the biopsy. But, I had also become the "classic celiac" before...
  12. It's gluten-free, but I am allergic to corn, dairy and soy. I have now become a label reader again so that I have none of my allergens in my diet. It was a brand new bottle to I don't have any fish sauce and will just leave the Lea & Perrins out.
  13. Judy, glad that the doctor took you off the antibiotics. I cannot believe that you moved furniture. KEEP THE LEG UP. Prayers and hugs.
  14. I am making the sweet and sour pot roast for dinner. It calls for Worcestershire sauce and I don't know what to substitute for it. Does anyone have any ideas. It calls for 2 to 3 Tbl. and I thought I should not jsut leave it out. Thanks.
  15. Thanks Tiffany and Patti. Someone suggested the Bragg's and hubby bought some when he went to the HF store for me. More money down the drain. I printed the recipe out Patti. And no I am not going to use the Bragg's. I am REALLY going totally soy, dairy and corn free. Patti, how long can it be refrigerated? I just read the label "made from hearty...
  16. Thanks Patti for the words of encouragement about the energy. It would be so great if I had so much more then I have had since the diagnosis. At least enough to get the April 15th taxes done - he he. The dining room table has been literally covered with papers since mid March. I will have to dust the papers before I start .
  17. Jerseyangel told me about Vance's non dairy milk. I ordered one to try and they have just shipped me another 6 boxes. It is in powdered form and you mix it up. I had cereal yesterday with it and I like it. I use it in cooking and in my coffee. Just go to Vance's non dairy milk on the internet. I NEED TO LEARN TO TYPE FASTER THEN PATTI.
  18. Thanks Tiffany. My printer has been working overtime on this thread. Since I can't have soy, can I substitute Bragg's for soy? I really love jerky and have lots in the pantry that hubby gets to eat now.
  19. I am so sorry Karen that yesterday was so bad for you. You are such a strong and happy person and I really admire your strength with dealing with your health. I hope today is much better for you. Judy, let us know what the doctor and Chiro say. I slept 4 hours straight, before the sweating woke me up. So, today will be better. Tomorrow will...
  20. Tonight I made the Greek Rice and it is so tasty. Had a salad and a fruit salad for desert. I am really getting into this cooking - he he. Really I am. What I am hoping for now that I have stopped all corn, dairy and soy, is that maybe this was part of my exhaustion. It would be so great to have energy again. I still have not gone into Rachel's thread...
  21. Hope you had a wonderful time on the cruise. I heard that the trip is awesome. I know you want an official diagnosis and so keep on eating the bread. They say it has to be enough gluten to equal 3 slices of bread a day. Good Luck.
  22. That is so wonderful. She is at the age where everything will be utter magic. Cinderella will come and talk to each child. I can't remember if it is breakfast or lunch. But, my 8 year (at that time) Granddaughter, thought all of Disney was real. Her favorite was Goofy and she wrapped herself around his legs at one breakfast. He told my husband, that...
  23. Judy, I am so sorry that you are having such ups and downs. Also sorry that I have not been doing emails to you or anyone. You are a fighter and you will get through this. I know it is so hard not to be negative at times, but we have to try. I am still praying for you. MANY HUGS.
  24. Last night for dinner we had the rest of the scalloped potatoes. I made up my own salad dressing from a suggestion on this post and I liked it better then the Ranch I have been using for years. I also made up the fruit dish with orange juice and honey. My husband said that if I keep feeding him like this, he is going to have to lose more weight then he...
  25. This sounds so awesome as I love chicken fried steak. But, I have to leave the cornstartch out. Maybe I will use a little more potaote starch in place of it, unless you have a better idea. Thank you.
