  1. Thanks for your opinion Broncobux. I think I will wait for the New Grist. When I talked with one of the owners, I found out there is no corn in it and since I am so allergic to corn, it narrows my options. When I look on the Bards Tale website, it lists natural flavors and corn is a natural flavor.
  2. Welcome to the forum. One member on this forum has kept an extensive food diary trying to figure out what she is reacting to. You might PM her and ask her how to start. I believe she is Rachel24, but if I am mistaken, someone who has a better brain then me, will do a correction. I also had the blood tests for allergens and I found it the most affective...
  3. Broncobus, which beer do you lke the best? I know you have drinken New Grist and now Bard's Tale and I am sure others would like to know before we spend a fortune on some. I have not tried the Bard's Tale yet, but I really did like the New Grist that I drank in Las Vegas.
  4. Thanks Molly for doing the correction of my statement so that I don't give people the wrong idea. That is so great that you helped them find people for the study. You are truly to be admired for all that you do. What would we do without the young people on here that still have their brains and memory intact .
  5. I take Scott's newletter and there was a report in there from Stamford U about the recovery time. It said that it depends on how long the damage was incurring and the age of the Celiac. Some can take up to 5 years or more and some just months. It is different with each person. Like someone else said, you might want to cut out dairy for about 6 months...

    ARCHIVED Applebee's

Lisa, your husband has a sense of humor like mine does . We ate there once and the staff and manager could not have been nicer, but I still ended up getting gluten. My husband loves that place, but he has to go with someone else if he wants to eat there.
  7. I went there twice before I was diagnosed. We love Sydney, Melbourne, etc. Went up the Gold Coast first trip and stayed on an island in the Great Barrier Reef. I can say that I actually swam next to fish there - real awesome. The second trip we drove down the coast to Melbourne and the way down is absolutly breathtaking. We loved Melbourne and would...
  8. Judy, if I get a potatoe that has green in it, I cut the green out. I read somewhere that you should not eat the green. CONGRATULATIONA RACHEL ON REACHING 1000 POSTINGS.
  9. I agree with Nini. I was very overweight before I became what they call "the typical Celiac". I watched my calories, worked out 5 days a week and was on my treadmill twice a day. I could not lose weight. I went to an endrocrynolgist (sp) and he said that sometimes they did not know why this happens. Now I know it was the Celiac Disease and I had to...
  10. I went off the Klonipin about a week ago because it has corn it it. I noticed my tremors got worse and that I could not get a good nights sleep for several nights. But, this all passed. I was on the .5 also and had to quit it cold turkey. Good Luck.
  11. I love my Wild Oats that I go to. They have a large gluten-free section and it is very clean. The manager always works with me and if I need something special he gets it in. I like mine better then Whole Foods. But also, Whole Foods is about 20 minutes further. I am so sorry that you had such a disappointing expierence. How frustrating that is to drive...
  12. Thank you everyone for the Get Well wishes. I am doing better today, so the anitbiotics must have kicked in. The big rock on my chest has become a little rock. Hope I can get to the store tomorrow and see what I can find to make the hummus recipes that AndreaB so nicely posted. Andrea, THANK YOU for those recipes. Andrea, I am also going to go to the...
  13. Thank you for the well wishes. I can't have soy, dairy (casein), corn or peanuts. That is why I am losing weight again, When the asthma went besurk, I cleaned out the pantry of everything I was eating that had even the smallest amount. Last week, I had boiled potatoes and had been much better for a couple of days and so I put my Canola marg. on a few...
  14. I am really feeling terrible. Had to cancel my teeth cleaning this morning because I was wheezing so much and my hands shook so bad from the Prednisone. She said it will be Sept or Oct before they can be done. I am suppose to call the beginning of July and see if there is a cancellation. I have now lost weight and I am down to 129 pounds and I don't want...
  15. The New Grist phone number is 1-414-372-8800.
  16. Oops . I MEANT a false negative as you cannot get a false positive. I have been really sick with severe allergies and I am a real dummy right now. Sorry about that, but am glad that people have corrected my mistake. Maybe I should stay away from posting until my breathing gets better . And yes, you can get a false positive on some tests, but not...
  17. That is such awesome news. Keep up the fantastic work that both you and your wife are doing. Timothy is blessed to have caring parents.
  18. CONGRATULATIONS. Enjoy your new baby boy and I am glad that the pregnancy turned out well.
  19. I did that for many years. I used to call them my "mini flu's". Of course all the doctors kept telling me was that I had IBS. Since going gluten-free - no more IBS no more mini flu's.
  20. I got the impression from my doctor that where I am at now is where I am going to stay - UNLESS I would go back on gluten and then it will get much worse. To be honest, I am so tired of all the auto-immune diseases that I have been diagnosed with, that I really only half listen. I no longer search out information on them or anything. It seems for me, that...
  21. Those cruises have a desert table that is to die for. Just pick out the ones with the most gluten and enjoy.
  22. I am so happy that you are doing better. My husband has to wear compression stockings inbetween the ops he is getting on his legs. He says they are a b~t~h to put on, but it makes a noticable difference in the swelling. Still praying for you. HUGS
  23. You know, I can understand why you have to do this. If I was in your shoes, I would go for it. After I was treated like a hypochondriac for many many years, I would need the diagnosis for my own piece of mind. That all that time I was really sick and they blew me off. But, my shoes were almost gone, before I got the diagnosis. I think for some people...
  24. Welcome to the board. If you decide that you don't want to put yourself thru being sick again, you can make a list of all the things that have improved or are better. You can present this to your doctor and ask if he would say you were gluten intolerant. Then you have a diagnosis. Either Celiac or gluten intolerance requires being totally gluten free...
  25. Rachel, when I was a High School Senior, I started getting terrible stomach pains. They would send me home and a few hours later, they were gone. Finally my parents took me to a quack who said they were just growing pains. Of course, by then all of my friends thought I was a hypochondriac. After my Senior year we moved to Florida and I got a job. They...
