  1. There are two types of Tamari soy sauce. One is gluten-free and one has wheat. I have bought the wrong one by mistake before and luckily have read the label (again) before I used it. They have different color labels (DUH). I probably don't remember the color of the label as I use soy maybe twice a year for a stir fry. I am so sorry that you got so sick...
  2. Thanks Patti. I had emailed them, but have not heard back. Now, I know why. You know I really like those Toll House Choc. chip cookies, but it would be so nice to have some variety for sweets.
  3. My favorite is New Grist, but will probably not get it in Arizona until around the 4th of July. I tasted it in Las Vegas. It is brewed in Milwaukee at the Lakefront Brewery. You can go to their website and see if it is in your area. I have tried Rampano and don't like it unless I throw a lime in it. The New Grist is the closest I have found to a real...
  4. I love and miss licorice. Do you have one handy and could you tell me if there is corn syrup in them or anything with corn. Also, where do I buy this licorice?
  5. One week is only going to make you sick and that is all. If you already have been diagnosed Celiac by blood tests, what is his problem? I would not do this for all the tea in China. I would definately find another doctor as this guy sounds like he does not know a thing about Celiac or gluten intolerance.

    ARCHIVED Las Vegas

That was a good suggestion to PM Broncobux as he lives in LV and has plenty of suggestions. I stay at the Mirage and I eat Pastami at the Carnegie Deli there. I bring my own bread to make a pastrami sandwich. I also ask them to put mine on a plate with no bread. I also eat at the Stack restaurant and they have always taken care of me and my other food...
  7. Yes, I was the one who said I cannot take the shots. In two years of taking weekly shots, they could never get beyond the first dose. When they would try to up it, my arm would blow up like a balloon. The skin would be stretched so tight that it was painful. After 2 years they said that I was in the 5% catagory that can not take them. Several years later...
  8. Welcome Velda and I am glad that you have found this forum very helpful. I have been gluten-free for 28 months and I still learn something new from this forum. Remember that we do not consider any question stupid.
  9. Welcome to the forum Mike. I am glad that someone told you to email Nini for her survival kit. I had her mail it to me as I use it to help people that my doctor sends to me for guidance. It is a great tool. Some things that you should be concerned about, is if you get any bread, do not use your old toaster, but buy a new one. You did not say if you live...
  10. The Epi-Pen is really easy to use. They even give you a tester to experiment with that is just a fake. It helps you become comfortable with it, before you need it. I carry an Epi-Pen whenever we go out to eat at a restaurant or friend's. I could not give myself my vit. B shot and my husband had to do that for me, when I was on them. But, the Epi-Pen...
  11. I am glad to hear your progress report and now I know that I don't have to enlarge my type when I email you. Can Jim come to Arizona and do that to my computer - he he. That is pretty crappy about the shoulder. I know you deal with all those tumors on a daily basis, but a frozen shoulder is not a good thing for a gardener. Many Hugs and prayers for your...
  12. I bought the Weber thingee (go to their website) for what we call here in Arizona "beer butt chicken". I use a gluten-free beer in the funnel part.
  13. Hi Jerry. After your lab tests come back and if they say Celiac or gluten intolerance, may I suggest that you go completely gluten-free and not try to exist on a little bit of gluten here and there. I was diagnosed at age 62 and if you look below my signature you will notice all of the auto-immune diseases that I now have been diagnosed with. The majority...
  14. That is great news. And I am glad you decided to share such positive news. Just remember do not work the same muscles two days in a row. Congratulations on a day will done.
  15. In our house all my food and everything I cook with is gluten-free. My husband's bread is in a tupperware container in the frig and he makes his toast, etc. in front of his toaster. He has his own marg, jelly etc. My grandkids keep all of their gluten snacks in their bedroom and not in my kitchen. The kids for awhile were making pizza in the oven and...

    ARCHIVED Symptoms

I react within 10 to 20 minutes. I get severe heartburn that thinks you are having a heart attack. Then my stomach pains start. As far as your limbs trembling, you might look into familial tremors. It can be a side affect of undiagnosed Celiac. My Mother had them bad and I also do. I take medicine at bedtime trying to keep them under control.
  17. If it was me, the next time you get an outbreak, I would see a different doctor and insist that he take several biopsies from the area next to the outbreak. Ask him to humor you. Dr. Green's book addresses this. But the only cure for DH is going totally gluten-free.
  18. You both are so very pretty. I wish I had known about Celiac Disease when my daughter was young. She is now 42 years old and won't be tested. There is no doubt that she is Celiac as she has soooooooooooo many of the symptoms and also addictions. We could have avoided so much of the heartbreak that we and are granddaughter have expierenced. I guess I...
  19. I am sorry that you are feeling sick. But, there is nothing to fear from the diagnosis of Celiac, unless you continue eating gluten and then cause a lot more damage to the body. Some people need the diagnosis or after awhile of being gluten-free, they think it was all in their minds and then they go back on gluten. In that case a diagnosis is necessary...
  20. Patti, I had those blister on and off my whole life. After going gluten-free, I have only had one eruption and that was after I once delibertly digested a gluten filled meal a year after my diagnosis. My Dad had them so bad that they once bandaged his hands for 3 months. They told him he had DH, but no one ever told him that he had Celiac Disease. He...
  21. To be honest, I have not tackled my meds for the corn. I have only, at this time, done all the foods, etc. I use a nebulizer about 3 times a day and that keeps my wheezing to a very minimum. I know in the future I will have to check the meds, but I just don't want to tackle that right now. But, when I do, I will just call Caremark and they will check...
  22. I was diagnosed with DH by just viewing the blisters. I did not have the biopsy. Mine were like yours. I had many small blisters that itched like crazy and when they popped oozed a clear or sometimes a pale yellow liquid. You can have a biopsy while you are broken out, but they need to take the biopsy next to an eruption and not on top of the blister...
  23. I have been using the mineral salts deoderant for MANY years and love it. Someone I know, had just asked last Thursday about it as they also wanted to stop the aluminum kind. I got mine at a health food store.
  24. Last night we went out to dinner with our neighbors to the nearest PF Changs that we have frequented since they opened. I called them on Saturday and talked about my corn allergy to the mgr. that was going to open on Sunday. She called me back mid-afternoon on Sunday and said she talked to the chef and I would be able to have the gluten-free foods I usually...
  25. Most of mine are actually allergies. I react with having major breathing problems and have to go on Prednisone, besides using an epi-pen and oxygen. Once the prednisone kicks in, then I can quit the oxygen. Mine have gotten worse, at least in the corn dept. But, then I was so stupid as I knew I was allergic to corn and thought just staying away from corn...
