  1. PLEASE do not panic yet over the enamel. I was almost 62 years old before I got diagnosed with Celiac and the damage had many years to progress. Just follow the diet while you are young and you won't have the severe problems older people like me ended up with.

    ARCHIVED Arthur!

That is great. I used to watch Arthur with my granddaughter when she was little. I must have been in my early 50's at the time and really liked the show. Now if we could only get a grown up Arthur type show for all the adults so that allergies and cross contamination could be addressed for us LOL.
  3. You have not had the Celiac panel done yet, but you are gluten free. By being gluten free, you can screw up the Celiac results and get a false negative. You can never get a false positive, but you can a negative. I really don't know what else to tell you and I am sorry that you are feeling so miserable.
  4. Yes, stress can trigger the storm. So can operations. It sounds like it could be Celiac. I am glad that you found someone who would run the tests on you. Let us know how the diet goes for you. Remember you need your own separate toaster and do not cross contaminate. No letting the husband put his knife in the jar several times while putting something...
  5. I screwed up again. Sorry about that. I have never tried the mashed potatoes. I only have bought a few of their items, like the tator tots (which are listed) and a few other on their list. But, I noticed when I bought the fast food fries that it listed an allergen section which I assumed meant they were complying with the new labeling laws. Soy was listed...
  6. My teeth have 14 caps because of the enamel being gone. My teeth would break off and then they started not to be able to hold the fillings for very long. I have 4 teeth on the bottom front that are translucent because of no enamel. I find them disgusting. I was thinking about having them also capped, but then I got the bill for my 18 year old granddaughters...
  7. I always have an energy problem, so I can't use that as an answer for me. In the beginning I reacted in 20 minutes. I now react within 3 to 4 bites if it is gluten. If it is cross contamination, it takes 20 minutes for me to know. I get such severe heartburn that I think I am having a heart attack. Then the cramps start.
  8. I go out to eat several times a month and have not been glutened in well over a year. I am choosy about where I eat though. But, sometimes I can't choose. Monday night friends invited us out for a quick dinner and we ate at the Country Club where I have not eaten before. Our host talked to the manager and she came and talked to me. She went to the chef...
  9. Tater tots are gluten free. They label their packages clearly with wheat, soy, etc. You should try their fast food fries. That is all we buy now. They are fantastic. Just like McDonalds without the worry about cross contamination.
  10. Thanks everyone for filling me in. It does not come on here for 20 minutes. I wanted to go to bed early as I am really tired and now I can. Hope the rest of you enjoy the show. As far as the nutsy part of it, I believe it. After I had my second miscarriage, I seriously considered pushing my 3 year old down a flight of stairs. I felt I must be an awful...
  11. Is she still consuming gluten? If so, then insist on the full Celiac panel which is 5 tests.
  12. Someone posted awhile back that they tested negative. I don't remember who it was or the month, but there was a posting.

Welcome to the forum. I only joined summer of 2005 and had been gluten-free for over a year. But, I learned more here then I did with my over 300 hours of on line research. This is a great place to get answers. And as everyone said "there are no dumb questions".
  14. I am so very sorry that your daughter has this eating disorder. Like Karen said she is in the best place she can be. My prayers are with you, your daughter and your family. HUGS to all of you.
  15. I think that is GREAT. You are so lucky that the school really cares.
  16. I have not used them, but many on here have. It is pretty quiet on the forum during the weekend, so have patience and someone will respond. My take on them is that they can tell you if you also have Celiac as long as it done within 2 years of being gluten-free. Welcome to the board.
  17. Welcome to the board. I was gluten-free for over a year when I finally joined. I learned more here then the 300 plus hours of research that I had done prior to joining. This is a very helpful forum and ask away with any questions.
  18. I just recently read that you have a 50%-50% chance of your posting being read with the intention you intended. Did that make any sense at all . Anyway, a survey was done, and the tone we wanted to imply had a chance of being misread 50% of the time.

welcome to the forum. As Nini said no question is stupid. Any help we can give you, fire away.
  20. Tiffany, Karen has a chronic D problem due to a disease that she has besides the Celiac. She has been gluten-free for a long time, but has been hoping they would solve the problem. It is really tough news for her. It is great she does not have Cancer as that can happen with the disease she has. Her villi have always been flat with every exam they do....
  21. I agree as it is my favorite brand. I always keep a couple of bags in the freezer. If I am making it to take someplace for desert, then I make it three layers as it looks so wonderful that way. People can't believe that it is gluten-free.
  22. Because of the problem of not absorbing vitamins or nutrients, I would suggest that your doctor run a vitamin check on you. Then you can take the suppliments that you need to, while your small intestine heals.
  23. It also sounds familiar to me before I got really bad. If you decide to have your doctor check for Celiac, please make sure that you continually eat gluten and that he performs the whole series of tests.
  24. I agree with everyone else - it is the gluten. I get such severe heartburn when I get cross contamination, that I think my heart is acting up. I have Angina and a mild heart problem and when that heartburn starts, I am always hoping it is the gluten and not the other.
  25. That is so great about your husband's support. That makes it so much easier. My family eats all of my gluten-free meals as they just want me well. Hugs to you and your wonderful husband.
