  1. I used to crave anything that was breaded. I know longer really crave it, but I sure would like to go to PF Changs and order every gluten filled appetiser that they make. I love the lettuce wraps, but would rather order those appetisers
  2. For many years (pre-diagnosis of Celiac), I used to get what I called mini flu's. Stomach pains, nausea and throwing up. They did not last long.
  3. Well I USED Patti's tweaking of the Toll House recipe and ADDED a few tweaks of my own. I have an electric oven. I added one extra level Tbl of the potato starch and an extra tiny pinch of the baking soda. I also baked mine for 9 minutes, but that is in MY oven. I would try 8 mins first and then decide. I also found that I could only use one cookie sheet...
  4. They are now selling franchises. They sold one a couple of months ago in one of the southern states. You might email them and ask if they have sold one in Texas.
  5. Rachael, this thread has to have the record for the most viewed LOL. I guess that many of us look to you for help in guiding us thru our allergy mine field. Hope you are doing well and thank you for all the info you give to us.
  6. Thanks Judy for posting. I will sleep fine knowing that your Dr's PA lives 2 doors down from you. I understand about your feelings about hospitals. I had a GP in Illinois who always wanted me out of the hospital as fast as she could get me. Everytime I would be in intensive care for respiratory or some such thing. She would stablize me and then get me...
  7. Judy, I just remebered something. You know how sluggish my brain is since I got so ill before the diagnosis. About 14 years ago, my knee swelled up and had a rash. I ran a high fever. A girl friend took me to the doctor for an emergency appt. We had a heck of a time getting me in her car as I could barely bend the knee. He took one look and had her...
  8. Hey Molly, you are at it again. You need to take the Barry Bonds thing out below the new avitar. Like the legs. I know they are not real tatoo's - bored were you LOL? I also buy seasoning blends from The Gluten Free Pantry. I really like them for the appropriate cooking.
  9. Sometimes when people go gluten-free they have a problem with dairy. You might try to elimminate the dairy for 6 months and see if that will help speed the recovery. That means read labels for both. I think it is because the small intestine reacts to the dairy like gluten, until it is fully healed. Hope this helps.
  10. This is kind of an off shoot of the U of C, but New Grist beer was developed by one of the brewers after his father was diagnosed with Celiac at the U of C. When you talk to one of the owners of Lakefront Brewery they have nothing but praise for the U of C.
  11. I am sorry that you are having such a hard time going totally gluten-free. I have read that gluten is extremely addictive and it has been compared to a morphine addiction. I did not have any withdrawal symptoms, but at the time of my diagnosis I had been unable to even stop throwing up a sip of water (9 days of this) and then the month preceding I had been...
  12. I did not have this problem as my husband was only too happy to have the house go gluten free EXCEPT for his bread and snacks. He has his own toaster and all gluten items are made on the counter in front of that toaster. The area in front of my toaster is off limits. Any condiments or items in the frig. that are shared has a sticker on it so there is no...
  13. Welcome to the forum, but sorry that you have been diagnosed with Celiac. This is all doable. I eat out about 3 times a month and I have multiple food allergies to boot. There are several National chains with gluten-free menu's, but if you want something special, then pick your restarurant and call a few days before and talk to the manager. If he sounds...
  14. I talked yesterday with one of the owners and was told that New Grist will be in southern Calif by mid month and Northern Calif. by end of month. They were meeting with Wild Oats about the distribution in all of their stores and subsideries within a month, which means that my Henry's Market here in Arizona could have the beer by July. It tastes like real...
  15. ajay, I have an electric ice tea maker. I pour the water in the back, add ice cubes to the line and put the tea bags in the filter area. You can use loose tea if you use one of those paper filters. Did you find the Toll House cookie recipe? I have to make my 3rd batch tomorrow and I am going to try the recipe tweaking that Patti did. I can't tweak, but...
  16. Thank you for sharing this information. Wrote it down and when I am done here going to their website. It would be great to save on shipping by combining.
  17. I order mine from a health food store in Illinois (I live in AZ). They wrap each box of cones in bubble wrap and then have the box marked fragile. I order several boxes at once to help to divide the shipping costs per box. My family loves them. I can no longer have ice cream, but I have to keep ordering these as they don't want the regular cones. Ever...
  18. Luchare, You mentioned two websites that mentioned corn in teas. Did you ever find any teas that were corn free? I have been making ice tea since the Pepsi had to be given up. I called the tea company that I use and corporate is looking into all their teas for gluten and corn. At the moment they are sending me samples of some infusion teas that they...
  19. I called Pepsi and for those with corn allergies, corn syrup is in the caramel coloring in their diet Pepsi. I called 7-Up and their diet does not have any corn syrup or anything corn in it.
  20. I have tried the chicken wings.
  21. Pepsi and Coke are on the gluten-free list. But, if you have other allergies, then you have to look further at the product. Someone posted on this thread that caramel coloring is usually made from wheat or corn. We know it is not wheat so I am assuming it is corn. I will call today and find out. But, I was a heavy decaf. diet Pepsi drinker. My breathing...
  22. You need to ask your doctor to humor you and run the FULL Celiac blood panel, which consists of 4 or 5 tests. My doctor was from the old school and only ran run one and luckily for me it came up positive. He said later that I was about 2 weeks away from no recovery at all. By the time he thought of Celiac I was completely house bound, bed ridden and dehydrated...
  23. Just reactivating the thread for ajay as I did not know how to cut and paste it to a reply . Probably someone else will want the recipe anyway PLUS all the cooking tips.
  24. Thank you aaascr for all the good advice and ideas. I have copied them down. ajay, Pepsi emailed me this afternoon and said I was to call their toll free number that they gave me. I am sure they will tell me corn, but I am going to call anyway. As far as the cookies, it was a recent thread. Try a search or I will see if I can find it and reactivate...
  25. I have eaten at the Tempe one and even my husband thought the gluten-free pizza was great. Glad you enjoyed it.
