ARCHIVED How Does This Work?
mouse replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anything that comes in contact with your mouth. Lipstick as we lick our lips. Shampoos because they sometimes get in the mouth. Hand lotions because of the face touching, etc. I personally don't worry about the hand lotion as I broke my habit of touching my face just after I was diagnosed. I am sure others will add more reasons. Good Luck. -
Welcome Kessea. You will gain a lot of useful information to help you along this gluten-free path. We also consider that there are no dumb questions. Sometimes we have a kind of sick humor and that is how so many of us cope with this so hopefully you will not be offended. Again, WELCOME.

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
mouse replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Since I have gone gluten-free I have a heck of a time holding my liquor. Two glasses of wine on an empty stomach puts me into the staggers. But, when we go out to dinner I order one drink and I drink Jack Daniels Black Label with coke in a tall glass. In my courting days with my hubby 43 years ago, I drank Boilermakers and drank everyone under the table... -
ARCHIVED Prescription Sleep Medication
mouse replied to lorka150's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I take Ambien and I take it just before I climb into bed. The only thing with Ambien is that you should not take it if you cannot allow 8 hours for sleep. I wake up if my dog decides she has to go out and I also wake up if my kidneys becken. Because of the groggy side affects I also make sure that I allow myself 2 hours to become fully awake before I get... -
I just printed it out. Thank you for sharing.

The kids are probably bringing every germ home with them. My husband has had three major colds this past winter but I have had none. I take a daily acidelphous (sp) and do so every single day. It used to be that I always caught his colds. I also take vitamins every morning. You might put the kids on yogurt to boost the good things in their bodies and...

You might try cutting out all dairy until your stomach settles down. Sorry I could not be more help.

When ever I have to use a Medrol pac I never gain weight, but that is a 6 day thingee. But, I remember when I had regular pneumonia about 8 years ago. When I got out of the hospital they had me on plenty of prednizone and a week after I got my pardon we went on a planned trip to Australia - still on the prednizone. After several days I started to ask my...

ARCHIVED Scared And Need Support Please
mouse replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Please add my HUGS to everyone elses'. I was like you in that I was so glad to finally have an answer. My stomach is no longer an issue, but so many other health issues keep croping up that I sometimes wonder why I try so hard. But, then my rational thinking takes hold and I just keep on going. -
ARCHIVED I May Possibly Have Celiac Disease
mouse replied to Aquina1300's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Keep eating gluten until you are done with all of the testing. Take the testing list with you, just in case he is not familiar with all that should be done. It is better to be safe then waste an appointment. If he does not want to run the whole panel, ask that it be run, so that you may have peace of mind. He can not fault you that you just want "peace... -
My stomach issues are all gone. The only time I get sick is if I get cross contaminated and that is very seldom. I have been gluten free for 2 years and I was much better after 6 months. Could you possibly be getting cross contaminated? Have you checked your lipsticks, shampoos and do you have a toaster that has never had regular bread in it? These are...

So sorry Lisa that you got sick. If I decide to ignore my dairy allergy, I only have the shakes at McDonalds. They have never made me sick. Of course the last one I had there was 8 months ago. But, I can dream, can't I.

ARCHIVED Looking For Answers
mouse replied to Marlee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My symptoms were like yours for about 30 years, when they bcame chiefly diarrhea with terrible heartburn, reflux and horrible stomach pains. Then dehydration set in for 9 days before I was diagnosed. I had very little gluten or food about 5 weeks before the diagnosis and then the 9 days without even able to keep water down. My blood test came back definately... -
ARCHIVED Namaste Chocolate Cake Mix
mouse replied to Guinsell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes, that particular mix is runny. But, it bakes to a fantastic cake. Just don't expect the height of a regular cake. If I am going to take desert somewhere I make this in three layers to give it the more usual height. Enjoy the cake as I think it is one of the best. -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?

Beats me! But I thought that was a odd answer. He was dead serious when he said it. I like that brain farts. Maybe that is what happens to all of us with the brain fog - we just switched gassy locations -
ARCHIVED Dilation Drops Used For Eye Exam- Are The gluten-free?
mouse replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Judy, You will probably read this tomorrow. But, I am now using the RX Restasis for my dry eyes. It has helped my vision and the pain in the eyes is almost totally gone. The pain only comes when I read far too much. If you don't get any satisfactory answers, why don't you ask your primary care doctor to refer you to a neuro opthamologist. At least... -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
mouse replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The tec who did the MRI. I looked at the screen and said what are those bright spots and then he said that. I was getting the MRI for a Neurologist I was starting to see. The person who read them said everything was fine. This was in Dec. (I think). I don't even no if the neuro even looked at them. I stopped going to him after three visits and someone... -
ARCHIVED Is Retinopathy Related To celiac disease In Some Way?
mouse replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When I had my detached retina attached (many years ago), there was a woman there who was very young and they had to attach both of her retina's. The doctor told me that they ran in her family and she had a predisposition to them. As to floaters I also have them, but I thought they were common as we age. I must have been living in the stone age for me to... -

ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Shipping Question
mouse replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They are not shipped frozen and that is why they send everything by 2 day mail. You freeze it on arrival. I don't think it would hurt for it to sit on your porch while you are at work. But do freeze it when you get home. -
What a wonderful POSITIVE article. Thanks for sharing.

ARCHIVED Grocery Store Rotisserie Chicken
mouse replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I got a cooked chicken in Costco that I read the label on. It listed the allergy items and wheat was not listed. I did not get sick. I also buy unseasoned from my local store (not in your area) and only once was I glutened and I think that was from cc. After all, the chickens are put on a rotisserie and the juices can drop down onto the next chicken....
