ARCHIVED Wonderful Gluten Free Cookbok
mouse replied to mouse's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
The brownies are from a mix. It is the gluten free pantry Truffle Brownie Mix and I use Dr. Oetker icing mix. The Monte Cristo Sandwich from the Bette Hagman revised edition is: 8 slices gluten-free bread 2 Tbl. mayo 1 Tbl. mustard 4 thin slices cooked ham (I used Hillshire Farms Deli Select Ultra Thin - then piled on the amount I wanted) 4 slices... -
ARCHIVED Other Food Allergies/intolerances Or Minor Glutening?
mouse replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have food allergies that take the form of severe wheezing, plenty of hives to itch and sometimes (but rarely thank God) my throat starts to close and I have just very short minutes to get an Epi-Pen into my thigh. I have learned that the worse thing you can do, when your throat closes, is to panic. You use up more oxygen that way. If I am going to eat... -
ARCHIVED I Survived My First Party Post Dx
mouse replied to floridanative's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Floridanative. I am glad that you tried Stonewall Kitchens. I have not used my lemon curd yet and will have to get the gfp scone mix so that I can do that. I use their Curried Mango grill sauce for basting the Hormel Cure 91 ? spiral cut ham. It tastes so great and my family really loves it. -
I so hope you get an answer as I am a terrible speller.

Thanks Lynn for the posting. We all needed to hear from you. We will be looking forward to your return and all the wonderful advice that you give us.

ARCHIVED I Survived My First Party Post Dx

I am so glad that you went Tiffany, even tho you had to take your own foods. You at least were able to enjoy the friends and the celebration. Yes, I think that sometimes friends have no idea how careful we have to be. But, sometimes we just have to accept them as just friends and not caretakers of our diet. You should be proud that you did go and did... -

Last Thursday I had a call from old neighbors in Illinois that are visiting relatives in Tucson. They wanted to drive up and see us and see our new home. I had not seen them in 5 years. They were wonderful neighbors and I was looking forward to the visit. I was beside myself on what to make for lunch today. This past Thursday I was in the Health Food...

I LOVE that my husband told me to cook the same for him that I do for myself. I LOVE that he has stood beside me for almost 43 years through SICKNESS and in health. I LOVE that he has always let me be me. I LOVE our townhome and that the builder allowed us to totally customize it. I LOVE that I was dianosed with Celiac and the hypochondiac label...

I hate it that I have to Plan a trip to Whole Foods to get the gluten-free brats. I hate that people tell me that this is just an allergy and that I can cheat I hate that I am always so tired. I hate that I have to struggle to find the doctor specialists' that know and understand this disease. I hate that we have to travel soooooooooo...

ChelSe, thank you for some great chuckles. Your list was good. I think this was also done with a little tongue in cheek attitude and we all need that at times. Barbara, I think you need to let up a little. Maybe yours was just a diet change, but for some of us the diagnosis came late and we have multiple medical problems. And for some they are very...

Mood swings are part of the disease, but they do level out after going gluten-free. It takes time. I used to have a terrible temper that I could not stop no matter what and that is now over. You are going to make a wonderful mother-in-law and your son must have learned from you. It is great that your future DIL has such support during this huge learning...

ARCHIVED Hmmm. 9 People Read This And No Advice?
mouse replied to JessicaB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Everything I have read says that you cannot have a false positive bloodwork. You can only have a false negative test. Your doctor who did the blood work is 100% right and you do have Celiac. As far as the biopsy I cannot answer that as I never had the test. My doctor was back in the stone ages and did not think it was necessary. The only reason I can... -

ARCHIVED Newby Here With Some Question
mouse replied to nik-ed's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Definately make sure that the dentist knows that you have Celiac. They make a tooth cleaning and polishing product that is gluten free, but make sure your dentist has it. My dentist did not on my first teeth cleaning and I got sick. He now uses gluten-free on all of his patients. Welcome, as this forum is so helpful in every aspect. -
How long have you been gluten-free? I used to get those several times a week and mostly when I was sleeping. Several of the toes would actually shoot straight up towards the ceiling. I would wake up screaming as the muscles would just tie themselves in knots. After I went gluten-free, I found that I have only had a couple for this past year. The only...

ARCHIVED Newbie To Site - "veteran" To Celiac
mouse replied to MallysMama's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
WELCOME. I think it is advisable to learn how to eat gluten-free before you end up like some of us have. Enough lecturing as I know some of the real experts on this site will address that and do a much better job then I will. We stay at the Mirage in Las Vegas and they have the best restaurant called STACK. They really addressed my gluten-free diet and... -
ARCHIVED The Best Rice Flour To Cook With
mouse replied to MallysMama's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
May I please have the recipe for the zucchini bread. Thank you. I use the sweet rice flour to coat chicken, etc. before frying. My non celiac husband just loves it. -
I have been gluten-free for two years. My symptons over the years (before diagnosis) always including stomach problems. The last several months, before they figured out what was wrong with me, was spent with HORRIBLE stomach problems. They were all gone shortly after I went gluten-free. I do not have them anymore, unless I get accidentaly cross contaminated...

ARCHIVED Foot Pain
mouse replied to guy220d's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was just diagnosed with neuropathy in my feet. The ball of the foot and toes have electrical impulses and numbness, but no pain. I honestly don't remember if I had pain before. I have been gluten-free for two years.
