  1. Went to the doctor today and despite skepticism, she tested me for yeast overgrowth. Guess what. I was right. I have to take fluconazole and nystatin, a very aggressive course of treatment. Back on a low carb/sugar diet. I am really hoping that this, in conjunction with my Gluten-free Casein-free diet will put me on the path to healing. Isnt it great when...
  2. Yep I had a fabulous Thanksgiving and thought it would be awkward or appear rude bringing my own food but everyone acted understanding about it. It was great! You are 100% correct because it is our own bodies, we are the ones that are responsible for our actions. They dont have our bodies and dont know what we go through or have the medical knowledge to address...
  3. Well I dont react to all plastics or at least not the same. I react to non stick skillets when i cook in them. The thinnest plastics are the worst, if it is liquid or has juices and sits in plastics, it gives me problems. The thicker the plastic, the safer and i can handle dry goods that have some exposure to plastics, it is more of a problem if it is something...
  4. I thought gluten was hard at first because I grew up eating canned food and frozen dinners. I had to actually learn how to cook lol. Yeah that is me. Every once in a while I quit eating because I am so tired of reacting to everything. Problem is I start healing and then I am starving and will eat anything! It is a viscious cycle. Meats are my biggest thing...
  5. The best we can do is when we have one pop up where we live, we support it as much as possible and eat out just because we can. That is the best part though, being able to eat out nonchalantly without fear. Some degree of normalcy.
  6. lol okay yeah i see. Really though, I am really hopeful that options will become more available as more people venture into that risky business. once people taste good food, they will keep coming. I hope quality will offset the costs.
  7. My mom has my egyptian mau addicted to cat treats (beef). Both my mau and siamese will only eat fresh tuna or fancy feast with extra gravy..What?! Not my doing but I did train my cats not to get onto tables and counter tops. They also leave all our ornaments on the Christmas tree alone. My mau is the most socially attentive. I have taught him to sit, lie down...
  8. Okay. They said it not me.
  9. just so everyone knows I was just kidding nobody on here does magic mushrooms.
  10. @mushroom: that made my day lol. i was at work getting yelled at by this woman because she was so hot she was about to die....kinda hard to focus when you got a senile woman screaming at you constantly or asking the same question 24 times for ten hours. honestly that is te worst torture i can think of. Much worse than water boarding. well that is my excuse...
  11. @IrishHeart: That is awesome I hope my experience will be just as good. I am sure yhey can accomodate my corn free diet too. I am blessed I wouldnt have to drive an hour and a half. :-) @Adalaide: yes, ours is supposed to be a bakery and cafè. I hope it survives in this city. I heard it is excellent so I cant wait. @Sora: That must be great. I tell ...
  12. We have a farmers market but it is only open sundays when i have to sleep because i work a twelve hour shift that night. I dont know about butcher shops. i dont recall seeing any but i can google it. i live in a small town with quite a few ranches and farms surely i would be able to find something. I eat all organic too. Would that be a problem request from...
  13. Really. I am thinking I am gonna have to move onto a farm in the middle of nowhere because it is impossible to get away from plastics and corny things. Now i am getting juiced from the meats covered in citric acid washes and other washes with corn derivatives. i still have no idea how to cook and bake without wheat and corn and working 60 hours a week pays...
  14. Chattanooga, Tennessee is getting it's very first completely gluten free restaurant called Crave. I am so excited! Anybody else have a gluten free only restaurant near you?
  15. I dont think you quite understand how serious the condition is. It can take just a small breadcrumb to cause damage to your body This is not like a simple allergy. Autoimmunity is a whole different thing. if you continue to expose yourself to purposeful glutening as well as cross contamination from kitchen surfaces that have handled gluten, you could be...
  16. Hi Tio! Welcome to the board. I am glad you were able to find out for yourself what is bothering you despite unreliable experiences with the healthcare system. So many of us have experienced similar troubles. As far as advice goes, you are probably doing the best thing by eating fresh fruit and vegetables to start out with. I wish I had done that because...
  17. Oh no I didnt wash it. deifferent people say different things about whether it should smell that way. I'm suspicious because many things I have I bought in the bulk section at my local organic store have been rancid. I think I may complain but I do not know how much it will help. Its all natural and no perservatives but perhaps they buy way too much for...
  18. Hmm I would just say it may be best to drink something with either an oily base or something a little sour and tangy like lemon water. Tangy flavors will stimulate salivary glands. As far as the oily base (like a lubricant) I just said that because too much water could actually dry your throat even more. I love flax milk. Our tissues need oils to lock in...
  19. Does anyone know whether fresh ground rice flour is supposed to uh, well, smell like sweaty socks? Would this mean the rice was in stock to long and the oils went rancid? It doesn't smell very appetizing. I can think of better ways to get fiber than eating sweaty socks lol.
  20. Lol just in time for Halloween: " I'mmm BAaack!"
  21. So relieved that the race just to survive is over. I am enjoying learning how to cook Gluten Free delicacies. I love food even more now.

  22. I have been a little absent from the forum for a while but I thought I would let people know what has been going on. Maybe this will encourage someone. I was getting desperate there for a while. I lost so much weight that my family members started saying I looked frail. I could not eat any foods in the moderate salicylate content category. I was extremely...
  23. Omg! The same thing happened to me since I was around twelve. My doctor thought it may be linked to my bladder condition, interstitial cystitis (which was caused by my food sensitivities i was unaware of). According to my doctor, it is more common with those who have insomnia, wake excessively or fail to go through normal stages of sleep. I woke sometimes...
  24. I have seen a lot about other people reacting to gluten from kisses. But other allergies are common as well and should be a consideration. I have the exact same reaction to corn and high salicylate containing items.
