  1. marciab- that is a long drawn out discussion. i don't want to hijack her thread. i'll PM you about it. Laura by the way...i sent this article out to all of my family and a bunch of my co-workers. They are all super supportive, but it was so nice to see an article about someone that I don't know, and they are JUST LIKE ME in terms of the cross...
  2. The best way I could describe it was I was mourning my "old life." Took awhile...and I still have my moments...but I learned, slowly, and got better, slowly. It is the most frustrating thing I have ever dealt with....but yet the most rewarding. It gave me my life back, to enjoy with my family and friends. I just eat differently. I'm the same person...
  3. Check out the book listed in my signature. It is written by one of the top Celiac physician's and researchers and was just published this year. While much still is unknown about Celiac, it is a great resource for the information that is currently out there. I HIGHLY recommend it. you can get it from amazon or any other bookstore. Feel free to ask any...
  4. clbevilacqua, i don't think your post came across as preachy...I think it exemplifies what the Christmas season, to me (not everyone), should be about. we better leave otherwise we aren't going to have friends
  5. I'm going to have to agree with Debbie. I think Christmas is the best time of the year. I just can't help it. Christmas was such a special time in our family...my parents instilled in us the 'magic' and true meaning of Christmas...we are all grown now, and our significant others think it is the greatest thing and love Christmas at my parents house...
  6. quaker oats are not safe. even though the ingredients per se are, the growing and processing are NOT. mccann's irish oats are supposed to be safe. they are grown and processed safely. but, there is still concerns bc the oat protein is very, very, very similar to the gluten protein. and i'm drinking a coke right now
  7. That is the most wonderful article.........wow. I am so impressed by your family....and that the author took so much time to REALLY portray what it is like to be a Celiac. This just gave me chills. Hugs to you and your family!!!!!!
  8. that is so great! and as much as it was cool to you, it was even cooler to her, being newly diagnosed. She'll probably always remember that!!!! thanks for sharing your story.
  9. Ok, Karen, yours is too perfect!!!!!!!! Molly, yours is sweet Ursula, yours is funny considering I just read your post about christmas and gifts mine is dixie sugar butt :)
  10. susan----i love your new avatar, by the way
  11. I wanted to add to what Lisa said...there is no stupid question. Welcome to the board! and, this probably won't be much help, but just about any symptom has been related to Celiac/gluten intolerance, so if you have celiac, the nausea could easily be a symptom. I was often nauseous before I was dx'ed, among other delightful symptoms just remember...
  12. Christina, Welcome to the board! We are happy to have you here! Just so you know, if you want an "official" diagnosis from an MD, in order for the blood tests (which is the first step) to be as accurate as possible, your daughter would still need to be eating gluten. I am not advocating for/against having an official dx, but its one of those important...
