  1. Your fraternity brother is lucky to be in a frat that is so understanding. It can be hard to eat out because of cross contamination...but you have been given some good advice. No matter what, just having your support means a lot to him, regardless of if he eats with you or just goes out and has a good time. So you say you are in Michigan....are you...
  2. Yes, the bloodwork. the IgA antibody is one of the tests that they usually include in the Celiac panel. by the way, if you had positive blood work before, you went gluten free, and now it is negative---that is a good sign. it hypothetically means that you are healing. so being in normal ranges while gluten free IS the goal. but, if you are having trouble...
  3. Shalia, You obviously have seen the results...and you know that he does better off gluten! I commend you for being an advocate for your son. Good luck, and please keep us updated...will be interested to hear his results...you should get them soon, I hope. Laura
  4. Welcome to the board! Just wanted to add that some Celiacs are IgA deficient, which means that this test will not be reliable for them. Please call and request a copy of your labs, and type them up and we'll help you figure them out. Don't settle for having them read it to you---you need a copy. We'll work through this!
  5. If you have the bloodwork done and have been gluten free, or on the way to gluten free, your tests will not necessarily be accurate. You have to be eating gluten for an extended amount of time for the tests to be accurate (i.e., otherwise you start to heal, your numbers go down, and then it "looks" like you don't have celiac disease) hope this helps some...
  6. If I can help in any way, I most certainly would be happy to....
  7. tarnalberry, i voted for "doesn't apply" for the same reason patti did...so if it gets changed, change my vote to "too many issues to count" or "doctors don't know what to do with me"
  8. Honestly, I wish everyone could've been there to see it. It was so overwhelming and wonderful. They had done so many things to try to make the weekend easy for me and this was just the icing on the cake. I even took a picture with the frame (which they sent home with me). Her family and his family was so supportive of me. Apparently, Meg and Brian had...
  9. my favorite pumpkin cheesecake recipe, which I made last year and others on the board did as well. I was the only Celiac at T-G and they loved it. It is actually very easy, because the ONLY substitution is for the graham cracker crumbs....the rest is naturally gluten free. Pumpkin Cheesecake: Crust: 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs (instead, I used ...
  10. I was in my best friend's wedding this past weekend in PA. Something awesome happened and I had to share: Many of you on the board know that I am having post-Celiac/non-Celiac related health problems as of recently (February), with my problems increasing in the past few months. I have lost a great deal of weight and my parents have moved in with me to...
  11. i'm about to head out to get my nails done with the bride....woo hoo! i need some pampering. read all about the lyme, the C, the pain, the fibro...all interesting. Carla---i do that nose thing to Eric too! have for years, esp up at PSU when it was so cold. hugs to you all....xoxo
  12. heidi, just a quick post (see my pm!) but wanted to add: make sure when your doctor runs your blood panel, that he runs the FULL panel, not just the anti-gliadins. Some doctors only run some, not all, and I just wanted to make sure you get all the answers you need. Open Original Shared Link You might want to read Dr. Peter Green's book "Celiac Disease...
  13. I don't believe that Momma Goose was implying that political discussions were bad or that any group is or isn't equipped to have that conversation. But, as learning from experience in being on this board for awhile, I believe Lisa was just giving you a friendly heads up that some people on here can get pretty fired up...then people take things personally...
  14. I, for one, am eternally grateful to you, V. And to azmom for opening the door to eosinophilic.
  15. Rachel, As always, you come through Thank you so much Interesting about your negative responses....hmmm...makes me wonder. hmm. I'll be thinking now. I think I am going to try and call them tomorrow. Laura
  16. Lisa, Hugs. So, do you have any hypotheses why? The fear of cooking for you? What do you think? xoxo, Laura
  17. Does anyone have experiences with Great Smokies Lab (which has changed now and is called Genova)? I am interested in other food allergy/intolerance testing. Are they FDA approved? Let me know if you have any words of wisdom. Thanks
