    ARCHIVED Dove?

www.gfsoap.com is free of many allergens---very simple.
  2. Having Celiac under control (i.e., a strict gluten free diet) is the best way to go in terms of celiac-pregnancy. The risks related to Celiac/pregnancy go down dramatically once the patient is diagnosed and goes gluten free. So its not really having Celiac per se that is the problem, it is the undiagnosed/untreated Celiac that is most often the problem....
  3. the only way to know is to know what you are looking for on the ingredient list, read carefully, and make your decision that way. the ingredients can vary by region, as well. if in doubt---call and ask. if in doubt---do not eat.
  4. Hey Alice- Well, you knew I would post Couple things: you do not have to have malabsorption to have Celiac or "just" gluten intolerance. you said: "So here's what I think might be going on: if I am having an autoimmune reaction to gluten, could it be happening primarily in my esophagus rather than my intestine??? That would explain my symptoms...
  5. A very simple/basic-yet delicious!-stuffing/dressing recipe: Bake a loaf of gluten free bread....from a mix or from scratch. Last year I made cornbread, but you could very easily use "white" bread. Or, use a store bought one. Slice the loaf, and cube it, and spread out on a baking sheet. Leave out to dry out, or put in oven for a few hours on 200 to...
  6. Oh-I love my "regular" sized ones!!! Andrea, I am mourning mine! we used to joke that I was going to fall over when I got pregnant (one day) because my boobs would take over the world! Bev, I saw on another thread that it was your birthday this weekend --- I hope you had a wonderful birthday, sweetie.
  7. Yes, they could be. If you want the bloodwork done for Celiac, explicitly ask for the full panel. Print out the list from Dr. Alessio Fasano's webpage (he is a leading Celiac expert at the University of Maryland's Celiac Center). Often, doctors dont run all the tests, which creates problems down the road. Even if he tells you he doesn't think it is Celiac...
  8. mcoop911, wow, i am happy you finally found a doctor who could help. here is some info for you, based on what you wrote: 1st: check out this link: https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=12 vinegar (see the link above)---distilled vinegar is safe. Malt vinegar is NOT gluten-free. Nor is apple cider FLAVORED vinegar. But apple cider...
  9. I would guess NYC...there are so many gluten free specialty places. There are a couple places in AZ known for their gluten free pizza---thats enough to be good!
  10. Patti, I just read your post. Ugh, that had to hurt. I don't know if it is the gas issue, but my mom just told me that she has had that for years now...and solves it by what others on here have described. It sounds very familiar to your pain-but, like I said, don't know if that's it or not. I couldn't believe how bad she said it hurt when she was telling...
  11. Well, it depends. Do you want to be 100% gluten free or just gluten lite? Yes, I thought it was picky too....but its what you have to do to be gluten FREE. Your body does not care how gluten gets in your body...accidental or on purpose, gluten is gluten is gluten. Would you feel comfortable dipping your knife in peanut butter that had rat poison...
  12. Welcome to the board! And thanks for sharing...we have all come such a long road to where we are. We are just happy to at least have everyone here for support. I am so happy you have a supportive family---I do, as well, and it makes all the difference. Again, welcome---and let us know what we can do.
  13. Nini, Hugs to you. You are such a great support to all of us, I hope that you know we are all thinking of you. It stinks to go through this, esp when you know all the "answers" (i.e., this will pass, it will get better, it happens to all of us) I hope you have a restful night's sleep and you wake up with a clear head and heart. Love, Laura
  14. Hey-we'll take all the publicity we can get! I think his life has changed since dealing with MS...really has put a spotlight on those who struggle with thir health. Laura
  15. Lyza, I know this is so frustrating for you! Doctors often just don't "get it"....and this is all so overwhelming when you just want to be healthy and move on. Just remember you are your own best advocate...and your only advocate sometimes. I highly recommend a recently published book by a Celiac expert at Columbia University, Dr. Peter Green, called ...
  16. Good luck! it sounds like you are well on your way. make sure all your "dippable" condiments (butter, cream cheese, dips, etc) are kept separate....one labeled NOT SAFE and one labeled gluten-free (or something like that). This helps prevent the cross contamination. no making out with a partner if they just ate gluten or drank beer....make them...
  17. I waitressed at two different applebee's during college, and their chicken breasts have a marinade on them that has soy sauce. Almost all of their food is prepackaged and full of wheat/gluten unfortunately. SOME of them used to offer a plain chicken breast (not listed on the menu) but honestly, I would be very hesitant to eat there---I do not.
