  1. Happy Birthday, David!!!
  2. Yes, it will most likely affect it. All the Celiac organizations say do NOT go gluten free until testing is completed for this reason.
  3. Based on what you wrote, it does not appear that you had any tests for Celiac run. They would look something like (may be some or all, depending on what any doctor runs). Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) IgA Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA...

  5. It means you are producing antibodies to gluten...its a little confusing based on the reports. Your GI will be able to go over the results with you in more detail. Anemia is common among people with Celiac. Do not go gluten free until after your appointment and you have completed all testing. Your doctor will probably want to do a biopsy to confirm...

  8. Open Original Shared Link "Q: What triggers DH? The simple answer is ingested gluten. But iodine (potassium iodide, iodized salt, kelp), some anti-inflammatories and stress can exacerbate the disease. An area of controversy is whether or not gluten can be absorbed through the skin. Most medical experts say no, only dietary gluten is of concern. DH...

  11. No more separate meals. Post meals that you want to make for your family, and we'll help you with replacements. No sense in recreating the wheel if someone has done it before! (ditto on Tinkyada pasta - replace all your old pasta with this!) There are three main national Celiac groups that have branches across the country. Look to see if there is one...
  12. Gluten free pantry french bread or gluten free pantry sandwich bread. Use to make loaves, rolls, bread sticks...add cheese, or italian seasonings....
  13. Each plan is different. There is no one "universal" BCBS plan, or universal Aetna plan, ... etc. Its important to know the contents of each plan that you have (potential) access to. What are the costs? What are the deductibles? What are the co-pays? Do you have to go to an in-network doctor? What type of coverage do you get for out of network doctors?...
  14. In many ways, what matters more is the SPECIFIC plan each carrier is offering, not just the name of the company. You can have two plans from the same carrier - and one has great coverage, and the other one - not so great.

  19. Please see the entirety of this very recent thread: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=54232 When I called, they informed me that nothing has changed except the labeling. Processed on lines that have something does not, by default, mean that it is contaminated.
  20. Why do people ask for supporting facts, links, documentation? Because there are people on here who are fascinated by this topic (gluten et al), who want to learn more about it, that see incorrect statements posted all day long, who understand beyond the "basics" of Celiac and want to understand a new topic, who want to have discussions based on facts....
  21. According to your lab results, you are not IgA deficient, and you tested negative for the tTG IgA test and the AGA IgG test. You could still have a non-Celiac gluten sensitivity, and the best way to determine that is to take gluten out of your diet and see if you improve.

  23. The fact that you have been gluten free for such a short period of time - if you have Celiac, 8 days of the gluten free diet has not "fixed" you yet - healing takes time. Your digestive system can have trouble digesting anything at this point.
  24. What are the ingredients/brands of all the "parts" of the trail mix you made?
  25. Maltodextrin is gluten free - it just looks misleading.
