ARCHIVED My Frustration Level Is At An All Time High
RonSchon replied to RonSchon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just an update.... Another thing from the short food list is now on the long list of things I can't have... Ocean Spray (as well as every store knockoff brand) CranApple switched from HFCS to Cane Sugar. I was totally getting reactions from Hansens All Natural Cane Soda, and thought it must be the natural flavors or caramel coloring. I've drank... -
ARCHIVED Am I Re-Glutening Myself With Something Every Day Or Is This A Super Long Glutening?
RonSchon replied to aquaholical's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Flower, Yes, I will hope to one day be tolerant of more things. Life can only be understood backwards, unfortunately it is lived in forward.... I think that what may have happened when I took all things gluten from my diet, I ended up overloading myself on other things - like the lectins (GottaSki has been a great educator for me as her experience... -
ARCHIVED Am I Re-Glutening Myself With Something Every Day Or Is This A Super Long Glutening?
RonSchon replied to aquaholical's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Flower, What I found with my own body, once I was clean of gluten I felt amazing. That was short lived. I next found that potatoes gave me all of the symptoms of gluten. Removing them helped, but a few days later I was coming up with symptoms. I removed cheese, that seemed to help marginally. Then I removed my beloved frothy latte and I again started... -
You didn't mention if they affected you?

ARCHIVED Am I Re-Glutening Myself With Something Every Day Or Is This A Super Long Glutening?
RonSchon replied to aquaholical's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What I found when I removed all gluten was that several other things affected me with all of the similar symptoms. That has led me down a road of discovering many of the things that provoke symptoms are "histimines". The emotional roller coaster is the worst. -
ARCHIVED It's Only 9:30...and I've Already Run To The Bathroom 3 Times!
RonSchon replied to luvrdeo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have issues like that when I have an unexpected glutening - or in my case, one of the several other things that now affect me in similar fashions as gluten (dairy, histimines). Are you gluten intolerant/celiac, or are you gluten free for general health reasons? Is it possible you unintentionally had gluten or cross contact? -

If you haven't tried the Applegate Organic Grass Fed beef hot dogs, I highly recommend them... They are pretty unbelievable for a hot dog... ingredients: Organic Grass-Fed Beef, Water. ARCHIVED My Frustration Level Is At An All Time High
RonSchon replied to RonSchon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Anete, You have hit on several items that "out of the blue" just started affecting me. It all started on a post i did several weeks back where I thought I was CC'd, but I wasn't - it was the french fries. I figured that out several days later when I made a baked potato at home - no CC possibility - but I did put ground black pepper on it. When I balanced... -
ARCHIVED My Frustration Level Is At An All Time High
RonSchon replied to RonSchon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the response, IrishHeart. I haven't eaten out since that post of many weeks ago. Since then, I have eaten ONLY steamed, unseasoned, broccoli & cauliflower, fresh unseasoned beef, chicken, and pork, and Applegate organic, grass-fed beef hot dogs that are labeled as gluten-free, as well as casein free, Ocean Spray Cranapple juice, in addition... -
ARCHIVED My Frustration Level Is At An All Time High
RonSchon posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have no idea how I can go forward. I'm eating almost nothing, and came up poisoned by something. Since I'm only eating about 4 things, the one thing that seems most logical since I don't have it every day would have been the banana I had. When I was in deep fog and pain over the rest of yesterday, I totally forgot I ate one, but last night I remembered... -
ARCHIVED Books On Gluten Free Product
RonSchon replied to Gluten Teen #5's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A book might be a challenge for specific branded products due to ingredient changes that happen frequently. -
ARCHIVED Domino's In Leesburg, Virginia
RonSchon replied to Truleesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Leslie, It is great to hear about your super positive experience. It is always refreshing to hear about businesses that execute effectively. I know how painful the CC's are for me to deal with, I can only imagine how hard it must be to watch it poison your daughter. -
I don't know, but I had to chime in on probiotics.... Today, for the 3rd time, the capsule popped before the pill pushed through the foil wrap (culturelle). That is a ridiculous way to package something so expensive. I'm as careful as I can be, but if the foil doesn't break I have to push harder. I'm going to start looking for a probiotic that doesn...

ARCHIVED Rudi's Expiration Date Question?
RonSchon replied to abby03's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Many places/company's go as far as to say "Use/Freeze Date", meaning use it or freeze it by that date. -
ARCHIVED Beer Here!
RonSchon replied to bridgeofsighs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Did anybody click on his link? I didn't see "Gluten Free" on any of the pages of the website. They all appear to be normal wheat/barley beers. This disclaimer is on a beer they call "Prairie Path". The logo for the beer is a person standing in a wheat field. Prairie Path Golden Ale is now Crafted to Remove Gluten. Click for more information... -
ARCHIVED Chicken Mcnuggets
RonSchon replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is from the McDonalds website in USA. The McD Canadian website is hard to figure out, I simply wouldn't count on it being different. There isn't any way I could figure out to get menu ingredients on the ".ca" site. I thought I had found it once and my browser crashed. I found a page that talked about fat content and info for diabetics, but not anything... -
ARCHIVED I Contacted J&j By Email About Neutrogena...
RonSchon replied to eternal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Neutrogena bath and body wash daily. I've never had a contamination where that came into question. -
ARCHIVED Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen
RonSchon replied to Peej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know this is a 4 year old thread. For the past few days I've been on a full elimination diet - eating only 5 clean foods, and only prepared by me. Yesterday, I decided to lay out at the pool for an hour. I applied some Hawaiin Tropic Tanning Oil, and was fully affected. It didn't all add up until waking up an hour ago and feeling like I ran 2... -
Lisa, Did you not see me accept responsibility for not first of all turning around and walking out when I saw that they didn't understand at all, and then also for not staying and supervising what they did? Did you really not see that, or are you just interested in piling on a person already frustrated to an extreme level? What you have done here...

Ugh... Just got glutened from 5 Guys. I've read so many positive reports, that today I was running errands after work and didn't have any meat thawed at home, and the parking lot to the Grocery was packed, so I decided to go to 5 Guys. It was right at 5:30pm, and only a couple of diners and no queue. Good signs... You get undivided attention. ...

ARCHIVED Costco Broccoli Cheddar Stuffed Chicken Breast?
RonSchon replied to Michelle1234's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the information. I've given up on most things with ingredients. I'm about 95% fresh, whole foods, and about 50% local - Eggs, Chicken, Grass Fed beef. Sam's and Costco are now just the gas station where I pick up toilet paper... :D :D :D :D -
ARCHIVED Restaurant Inquiry For AZ gluten-free'ers
RonSchon replied to RonSchon's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Great to hear. I plan to try them out in the next week. I'm also thinking about going to Flagstaff for Labor Day weekend and noticed they also have an address right on the main street there, Milton. I have missed Italian food. A day of hiking followed by a good Italian meal, which isn't followed by bloating/constipation/cramps/joint pain, would be... -
ARCHIVED Restaurant Inquiry For AZ gluten-free'ers
RonSchon posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I came across a restaurant in my online scouring that seems to be run by people that are close to the gluten-free issue. I have been wanting to go do a test run, but they are a little out of my general neighborhood so I haven't made it there yet. Their menu is both loaded with items, and well identified on the menu. And Italian, to boot. Open Original... -
ARCHIVED Celiac-Friendly Restaurants In Orange County, Ca?
RonSchon replied to eva6in7's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We have El Pollo Loco here in AZ, I wouldn't recommend that to anybody. Their gluten information on their website is poor, and they didn't answer an email I sent to them regarding gluten free items. Not even with a "thank you for your inquiry". Theoretically they could have a great gluten-free menu, but they aren't yet approaching it that way in Arizona...
