  1. I can relate to some of what you are going through. I spent at least 15 years undiagnosed. I ate and drank the things that were damaging me as they caused me momentary relief. I'm only diagnosed for a couple of weeks, so I don't know what the future holds for me. My problem is that I don't absorb any nutrients, so taking a vitamin is useless. ...
  2. I went there on Saturday evening because they had a good gluten-free menu online. I realize it is a smaller chain, so this might not be of interest to most... What I really appreciated was the waitress - and by extension the management. She understood what it meant, and what my concerns would be. That translated to trust. Excellent grilled pork...
  3. Must be your local franchisee. I checked mine - he has one in the same building as my office and he doesn't do anything extra for true gluten-free - as far as CC goes.
  4. I looked hard at B&J this weekend. What I would appreciate from them is if they would simply come out and say it. I would expect a company that spends so much time trying to convince us how good they are would do more for such a large captive customer base. gluten-free, it either is or it isn't. I refuse to spend 5 minutes with a magnifying glass...
  5. I have to admit, there was a time when all I ate was EVOL Burrito's. They were a hometown company, and produced a super quality product. Then life changed, and I hadn't even thought of them in some time. I went out to their webworld in hopes that they had some sort of burrito that was gluten-free. Almost.... EVOL Bowls I put my car in DRIVE...
  6. Needing to find replacement foods that are gluten-free, I'm sure we all run into hits and misses. I report to you here today with a major fail. Glutenfreeda Burrito's. I thought I'd defrost it first, so that I don't have to micro it so long, hopefully saving the wrap. It needed a minute in the micro to thoroughly heat it. You'll need a fork...
  7. I've been living with Gout since 1996. I recognize the list presented is based on science to some extent, but having studied my body and my episodes of gout flare-ups, once I'm in the flare nothing seems to work to lessen the pain. I've also worked hard to avoid the no no items (or at least minimize them significantly), and it seemed that it didn't...
  8. I realize this is a 2 year old thread, but I figure adding to it expands the knowledgebase. In retrospect, I had my first incidence of Gout at a very similar time as I know my body began changing from undiagnosed Celiac. That would be 1996. I had an episode of gout, and had no idea what it was - just felt like a broken toe. Lasted a couple of weeks...
  9. My problem has been mostly taken care of. I used the product for about 30 years before finally quitting. Now, a very small bit, I use the chewing tobacco pouches made by UST - skoal xtra pouches. To quantify the change, probably less than 10% a day than what I used for so many years. I have only been gluten-free for 4 days, so it will take time before...
  10. I discovered my allergy to artificial sweeteners about 6 or 7 years ago. The only one I can tolerate is S&L - and when people say "the pink stuff" - nope - most of the knockoff pink packets effect me too. Just S&L for me in my morning Latte. I can't tell you how often Starbucks misses that - at $4 for a cup of coffee it would seem a no-brainer...
  11. It's really a developing situation. For instance, on Tuesday night I went out to dinner at Outback - my first meal out since diagnosis. I felt safe with Outback because they seem to be solidly behind the initiative. So when I ask the the waitress how I tell the gluten-free items, etc, she knows nothing about it. My point of agreement with the original...
  12. Added thanks to Gemini. The woman was asking a question and noticeably concerned, not looking for a lecture. I have the same question, and nobody has ever posted back that they have contacted the manufacturer so I will make that a "todo" item.
  13. Heather, I fall in line with your logic. My GP that saw me for 15 years and I had a great relationship, he never suggested celiac disease even though I told him about oil in my stool, floating stool, leg cramps, severe and prolonged constipation, always feeling tired and always being hungry, and several others. I understand these symptoms can be indicative...
  14. I'm in Phoenix, and newly diagnosed. I was literally at the end of my rope with undiagnosed doctors visits. Spent thousands of dollars on doctors, wife divorced me because there was never a diagnosis, lost my job in law enforcement because I was unable to absorb nutrients. Gained about 80 lbs, right in front of my doctor whom I'd been a regular for 15...
  15. Mega dosing has helped me clear multi-day constipation issues. I discovered the relationship earlier this year when I was trying to get over a cold quickly so I took a product called Emergen C, and took two doses close together. I had never gone such a large and dense quantity before in my 45 years.
  16. I will look forward to that day. I was just diagnosed last week, after about 14 years of ever increasing symptoms. The toilet was a first warning sign for me. My wife (ex wife now, yes, it cost my marriage) would be so upset at how much time I spent in the bathroom.
