Dani, Check out this link. Open Original Shared Link If you have time listen to the show about gluten intolerance and then listen to the show about candida. Very, very, informative. I go to a Biohealth clinic and my doctor is awesome. Well...so far they've been like a huge gift after everything I've gone through with past doctors....but since...

ARCHIVED Metronidazole
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Jennifer, I'm gonna stick it out...only 9 days left. I wanna make sure I get rid of the infection. No pain...no gain...right. Why did they make your husband take it if he didnt have a bacteria overgrowth? My doctor gave me a new probiotic when I had my appt. yesterday. I forget the brand but it had 12 billion per capsule... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results After Several Months Gluten-free
Rachel--24 replied to jnclelland's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It could be that you've been on the diet too long to show positive. It could be that you hadnt really suffered any damage yet....you caught it early enough. You may not have reached full blown-celiac but were smart to recognize a problem. I tested after 4 months gluten-free and was positive but I was extremely ill before the diet and was nowhere near healthy... -
Yes...I had positive tTG...BUT I do not carry either of the main celiac genes. I have genes which cause gluten sensitivity. The doctors say genes do not tell the whole story because a small amount of biopsy proven Celiacs do not carry the main genes. They have not yet determined all genes involved. I'm kind of on the fence. Most days I believe I'm gluten...

ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
Rachel--24 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
If you read these posts with an open mind I'm sure you can see that we are ALL concerned about others. We are concerned for everyone who is Celiac, or anyone who needs to be on a gluten free diet, we are concerned for those who will someday need to be on this diet, we are concerned for this family's little girl who will grow up and want more choices. Who... -
ARCHIVED What Is The Problem With Bob's Red Mill?
Rachel--24 replied to junieb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some people are more sensitive than others and some people find they react to Bob's Red Mill products. They are in a seperate room from the gluten flours and only contain amounts of gluten so low that most celiacs wouldnt react. That is my understanding. -
I never got diagnosed with Celiac. I went on the diet before taking my bloodtests because I didnt know any better and the doctor told me it wouldnt affect tests. He didnt know much about Celiac or testing. I was negative so went back to normal diet and a few months later I had lost 25 lbs. and was very sick. I thought I was dying so I put myself back on a...

ARCHIVED Metronidazole
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thnaks for your post Tiffany, At least after seeing that everyone pretty much reacts horribly to this drug I know its not something else going wrong. I was scared. I was also getting heart palipatations off and on and I felt dizzy. Unfortunately, for c-diff infection there is only one alternative (vancomyacin). Doctors usually prefer to use it as a last... -
The 3 things I've been diagnosed with so far are gluten intolerance, candida, and c-diff infection. Candida is often seen with gluten intolerance. In my case I've been gluten free for several months so candida is more likely due to the bacteria infection and the unhealthy state of my digestive tract. My candida was found in a stool test.

ARCHIVED Got Lab Results, Could They Be Wrong?
Rachel--24 replied to SuzieQ's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You did have a positive test result. You had a high IgG. May or may not be Celiac but either way it IS something. That and you're improvement on the diet says you're body is definately not liking gluten. I'd be happy with those results. -

I dont think I'm a hateful person at all and I always think about what I'm posting before I post it. I suffered from this just like alot of other people...I got pushed around by the doctors just like alot of other people. My thoughts are not about hate but they are about the bottom line. The bottom line is Celiacs are in the minority. The fact that Celiac... -
I'm sure the risk of possible lawsuits would be more damaging to the corporations than worrying about losing the business of Celiacs. In the end...we lose.

ARCHIVED Metronidazole
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Funny, I took Diflucin a few different times. I had kind of diagnosed myself with candida not knowing what else it could be. The Diflucin had no effect on me whatsoever. I had expected more from it and was disappointed cuz it didnt solve anything for me. I guess cuz it wasnt candida making me sick...duh. Yeah...you must be one of the fortunate... -

I dont know Jersey, my stools got so much better after I started the diet that I just assumed I had nothing else and I would just get better but obviously didnt. Theres a link in a thread having to do w/ gluten intolerance on a radio program. I listened to it and during the program it explained why bacteria infections can occur with gluten intolerance. ... -
ARCHIVED Metronidazole
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you soooo much...all of you have been a lifesaver today! I'm so glad there is no gluten....thats a huge load off my mind. I'm having lots of orange/smelly soft stools. Just got off the c-diff forum and it seems like this is a common sign of the infection. Funny, I used to have these regularly but forgot about it because I havent had the problem... -
ARCHIVED Metronidazole
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jersey, The only info. I could get from the pharmacist was that the manufacturer is Pliva and its in E. Hanover N.J. She didnt have a phone number. I hope its just side effects that I'm experiencing and that the pills are gluten-free. There are alot of side effects associated with this drug but I dont want to making things worse for myself in case... -

Thanks Jersey, There is no manufacturer on the rx so I'll have to wait until the pharmacy opens. I appreciate your help...I'm not much into researching today. Just wanna sleep. Its the first day I've had to miss work and I'm really bummed about blowing my record. Chelse thanks for the tip. I knew I would be taking this antibiotic so I... -
ARCHIVED Metronidazole
Rachel--24 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if Metronidazole (genneric for Flagyl) is gluten free? I've been on it 3 days for a C-Diff infection and I'm getting alot of my old symptoms back. Dont know if its related to the infection or if there could be gluten in antibiotic. All I know is my stools are no longer formed, I've lost weight and I'm getting bruises and depression. I'm really... -
ARCHIVED A Class Action Suit Against Mcds...
Rachel--24 replied to Cheri A's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I agree. Its total BS. Do you mean to tell me this child has NEVER had gluten in her life and if it werent for the "possible" trace amounts in the fries she'd be perfectly fine and w/out Celiac? C'MON...how can that lawsuit possibly go anywhere. -
Lisa, Graves Disease is very easily treated. Graves was a walk in the park for me. Not a big deal at all. A thyroid test can let you know if its a problem or not. Have you seen a neurologist? I would definately see a neurologist about the shakiness if all is well with your thyroid.

I couldn't agree with you more Ian. That was my point exactly on the other thread. This is gonna hurt us in the end. Oh...I do agree that their food is crap (not healthy at all) but man...I love their food! It was my fav. place to eat before I got sick. Guess that tells you alot about my diet and how I ended up so sick huh. -
Thats not true. I would get tested. Your doctor is making an assumption that you dont have something based on your age? Thats just like saying you cant have Celiac if you're overweight. I'd get tested if I were you. Its better for your health to know something like that. I was just tested and it was negative.
