  1. Aspartame does very bad things to me...I would rather eat gluten than have something with aspartame in it.
  2. Although gluten had alot to do with it....I dont attribute the whole thing to just removal of gluten. I also have problems with processed foods and all the junk in them (food dyes, additives, perservatives, etc.) Those things have a dramatic affect on my mood and behavior as well. Its a bummer because I love junk. I have something else going on besides...
  3. I had come to the conclusion that I had intestinal yeast and asked my doctor for both nystatin and diflucin. I had no side effects from either drug but no improvement either. I had no visible "sign" of yeast...no v. yeast infection or thrush but just figured it may be the cause for my "mysterious" ongoing problems. I had 2 weird spots on my chest for about...
  4. I'm a firm believer in this as well. Good for you for doing some research and finding this forum. You've already been given some good advice. Like the others have said....get the bloodwork done asap. Best of luck to you and your family.
  5. This is true. What works for some may not work for others. In my case I was severely depressed. I knew that whatever was causing my physical pain was also the cause of my mood swings and depression. Intuitavely I knew that drugs were not the answer for me but no doctor would listen. Drugs were pushed at me until finally I gave in and tried Prozac. I gave...
  6. Yeah....its a great site and they have lots of yummy recipes. I printed a bunch of the recipes awhile back. I have a whole binder full now. Definately check out the site if you have alot of intolerances.
  7. I would recommend finding a doctor who is knowledgeable about Celiac and get the bloodtests done. Make sure they give you the full "celiac panel"...it consists of 5 tests. If the bloodtest is negative or inconclusive I would then try the diet. The tests aren't foolproof so even if negative you may find your symptoms imrove on the diet.
  8. The banana bread is awesome, I also liked the scones and the cornbread. The cherry pie is good but if you're really picky you may not like it....I thought it was good though.
  9. That is strange. I'm pretty sure I pinned that particular topic. I remember reading it a couple times and not understanding why it said "most contain wheat" because it didnt seem to go with the original post.
  10. I had the tests and I'm not allergic to wheat or dairy.
  11. Wow guys....my head is hurting from trying to absorb all this info you're throwing back and forth. I'm gonna have to read this thread on a day when there is absolutely zero brainfog.

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Judy, In that case...glad I could help. Hope all goes well for you. I got scheduled to see the dentist one month from now. That is WAY too long for me to wait. I've been sick 3 years! I'm throwing a fit....trying to get in sooner. If all of my problems are originating from an infection in my mouth then all I have to say is wow! A mouth infection...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Sorry Judy, didn't mean to freak you out. It was just something I rememeber reading...dont even know if its legit or not. Whatever happened to me had already occured before my root canal. I dunno, maybe it was something I did wrong. I remember that after they removed old fillings they put in temporary's. I forgot they were in and I chewed gum which caused...
  14. Red Dye 40 doesnt contain gluten. Some people react to it because its probably not the best thing for us to be putting into our bodies....but as far as I know its gluten-free.

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

I dunno. The tests are fairly new. I think they've only been around about 10 years or so. Alot of the tests arent really diagnositc tests...they are considered "functional" tests. Basically they give the doctor a good idea as to where the problems likely are occurring and what things need further testing and so on. For example if the IgG for Lyme were...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

BTW...Something interesting I figured out. I never could understand why my ELISA IgG food sensitivity test was negative for EVERYTHING...even though I was reacting to alot of foods. I asked the doctor if being a "low immune responder" and not producing alot of IgG...could this be why I was negative for everything? He said its probably the reason.....soooo...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Hi Jessica, I didnt see your post till today. Dont know how I missed it but yeah we must have the same doc.....how funny! The flier came from Cupertino Nutrition....LOVE that store! I've had 4 visits with him so far. I go on Mondays. I'm not on any elimination diet right now....still taking tests and other things. Soy bothers me too.... I just figured...
  18. I think the PTH is referring to parathyroid glands. I'm not really familiar with those. Regular thyroid tests are TSH, T4 and T3. Did she test you for those?
  19. Well I agree with everything Nini wrote but was just wondering....what tests did you have done? You could always do Enterolab but obviously your son got his genes from someone. Did you have gene testing done? IgA deficiency? Btw...cool avatar...thats gotta be my favorite so far. Like the new quote too. Is this what you were busy doing when you missed...
  20. I think one person posted awhile back that she had DQ1 with a positive biospy and if I remember correctly I believe she said she knew of others with positive biopsies as well. Cant remember who the poster was though. Anyways it is possible but not very common.
  21. Thanks for posting Michelle. I was feeling like I was the only one reacting. I know I've reacted to quinoa and millet but not too sure about amaranth. I'm just going to avoid all the grains for now cuz I'm sick of getting sick. I remember someone else posting about a gluten reaction from quinoa but dont remember who...for the most part it seems like the...
  22. Well...I've been on the diet quite some time now and I dont how many times I've glutened myself but its ALOT. Pretty similar to CeliaCruz actually and I'm pretty skeeved out too. One more thing that seems to be common around here is additional food intolerances...mainly dairy. If you still eat dairy you may wanna give that up for the first few months. ...
  23. Try eating the pasta plain...all by itself and see if you get the same reaction.
  24. Sorry about your insurance troubles. My symptoms came on during a stressful time also but on the bright side for you....you didnt go years without a diagnosis. You'll get used to the diet and you'll be happy to not live with your symptoms anymore. Are you planning on taking more tests? If you are...keep eating gluten but in my opinion the biopsy is proof...
  25. Sugar would definately not be a good idea if your child is having yeast issues. So I would avoid sugar and honey for now. Does your child have thrush?
