  1. I got my set of triumph cards about 3 months ago but still not ready to eat out yet. They are in my wallet and hopefully will get used someday soon.
  2. You probably shouldnt drink all that water with your meals. If your drinking 2 bottles of water while you're eating it will interfere with digestion. I don't drink any water until a half hour after I've eaten. Also eating small meals will help with healing and digestion.
  3. Shirley, The list is just a list of 96 different foods that can all be tested for IgG sensitivities. I think he was saying if you take the test and come back sensitive to oats then you would know to stay away. I dont think the test can determine that though since the test cant determine celiac...I would think it cant determine whether oats are causing...
  4. I got sick from the Brown Rice Crisps. I read that they don't guarantee gluten-free because of cross-contamination. Seems like some people are ok eating them though.
  5. I had all the tests done. The IgA, tTG, malabsorption, casein and genes. I think this is the best way to go if you can afford it because it gives you a clearer picture....whereas if you only were to get the IgA...I think you would be left with more questions and probably more tests. I did had negative bloodtests (IgA & tTG) after 2 weeks on the diet...
  6. OH...I'm not saying that everyone has Celiac. Celiacs arent the only people who have problems with gluten. Just from reading the threads on this forum you can see that the majority test negative even though they have the symptoms and the symptoms clear up on the diet. So yes...if you want to talk about individuals who are "oficially" diagnosed with celiac...
  7. I've been thinking that same thing for awhile now. If I get glutened (badly) my tongue turns white, I become incredibly sensitive to chemicals, perfumes and just about everything I eat. It takes weeks to get back on track. Its not so bad with tiny accidents but I still get those same reactions to a lesser degree. When I start feeling better I can tolerate...
  8. Well...I bought some McCann's oats but now I dont think I can eat them...ever. I'm too scared. I think I will return the nice round can next week.
  9. Not trying to get into a debate or anything but Celiac isn't "rare" by any means. Its probably the most common genetic disease there is. I don't think 1 out of every 133 people is very rare at all. I believe I read that in Italy they test all children before the age of 12. At least over there they realize the prevelance of this disease and are not "ignoring...
  10. Was it the first time you ate that cereal? If you've been eating them and not reacting it could be something else but if it was the first time I'd suspect the cereal. Also when you're feeling better you could try the soymilk all by itself and see what happens. That way you could find out if the soy had anything to do with it.
  11. Thanks Kasey'sMom, I did buy the bar soap but havent used it yet. None of the bars or the lotions they had at the store contained gluten so thats why I bought it...I figured maybe all their products were gluten-free. I'll have to look at their website. Thanks for the link. I started washing my face with my California Baby shampoo and that seems...
  12. Who makes the Panda Puffs? Is it Nature Path? If so...I got a reaction everytime I ate their cereals. I think they could be contaminated. I dont eat those cereals anymore.
  13. I think you are pretty much diagnosed since you had a positive bloodtest. Do you know what test was run? Some are more specific than others. I think regardless of the biopsy results you should get on the diet (after the test). Some doctors diagnose w/out having the biopsy done...its not really necessary given your symptoms, family history and positive bloodtests...
  14. Yes, those thyroid tests determined that my thyroid was overactive. There were other tests that indicated it was Graves (autoimmune). I dont remember all the tests but I did have an iodine uptake test and some kind of scan where they took pictures of my thyroid.
  15. Well...it sounds like you have Celiac Disease. The chances are high since your mom has it and the fact that your bloodtest was positive pretty much confirms it. Even if your biopsy is negative its very likely you have Celiac. The biopsy cant rule out celiac...it can only rule it in. If you are in the beginning stages you may not have visible damage yet or...
  16. I've noticed that people who have had reactions have only had it with the mac and cheese and the rice pizza. Is that right? I ate a dairy free gluten free rice bowl so I feel ok with that. I havent had any symptoms and its almost been 24 hours.
  17. Kaiti already gave a description of the moderator's "duties". No, a moderator will not move your topic if it doesnt get responses. It doesnt get stuck anywhere else...but topics that do get responses will always move to the front so yours will get pushed farther back if noone has posted on it. Once someone does reply to your topic it will then go back...
  18. Its possible she could have an IgA deficiency. She should be tested for that. If you are looking for a definate diagnosis you should not start the diet until all testing is complete otherwise you may be left with unanswered questions. The response to the diet will definately give you some kind of answer but January is not that far away. If she is not too...
  19. Wow...that is so cool! Now that I look at it closely I can tell the dog is real! I wish I knew how to do all that stuff...I have alot of photo software but I've only learned a few things so far. I dont know how much of my hairloss was due to gluten and how much was caused by thyroid. I had Graves disease at the same time. My hair grows back...
  20. Shirley, I like your new pic too. I'm on my Mom's computer right now and it still shows my old pic. I wonder why that is? I love Christmas time. I get to listen to Xmas music all day at work...in the past years it used to bug me but this year I'm lovin' it. Getting sick can change some things for the better. The gene test would never change...
  21. So far, so good.
  22. Claire, what about the small percentage of people who have Celiac without either of the main Celiac genes? My GI said the gene test cant rule out Celiac 100% of the time.
  23. I was a little scared before my endoscopy but it was no big deal. I dont remember any of it. I actually liked the "nap" that I had. I was kind of drugged up and apparantly I was talking incoherently after the procedure. I dont remember though.
  24. I did have dramatic improvement when I first changed my diet...well actually *first* I went through some terrible withdrawl or something. I felt worse for about a week but then started improving. Before the diet I was not functioning at all and I actually thought I was dying. I had lost alot of weight and had been off work (disabilty) for 2 years. The doctors...
  25. Awwwww man...I just finished eating an Amy's rice bowl just this second. I've already felt like crap for more than a week and dont want to get glutened again. I'm going to start praying.... I'm soooo freaked out right now I'm probably going to GIVE myself a gluten attack just from worrying!
