ARCHIVED Similar Diseases As Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to GlutenKing's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Very cute. Some intolerance's do go away, but usually because they actually were not an intolerance to begin with. Some problems are branched off from gluten, once the gluten is gone, and healing has happened, sometimes a person can go back to a food they thought was bothering them. They say celiac is different, and that's why they are not classified... -
ARCHIVED Similar Diseases As Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to GlutenKing's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Absolutely, and that is exactly why they should not call "villi damage" the gold standard for diagnosis. Some times, when you need to be gluten free, other foods seem to be bothering you, but it is actually the gluten causing the problem. I used to think the best thing for my tummy was toast, and I was just feeding the monster. Once you are totally gluten... -
ARCHIVED Abdominal Pain/discomfort?
darlindeb25 replied to LisaaaNoel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is the "norm" as far as most doctors go. I had one doctor tell me, "IBS simply means, I Be Stumped!" IBS is kind of a "catch all" when a doctor doesn't really know what's going on with your tummy. I was diagnosed with it too. Irritable bowel, spastic colon, nervous stomach, and my favorite, "It's all in your head!" My stomach hurt a good portion... -
ARCHIVED How Many People Are Actually Self-diagnosed?
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What's a "2 week thing"? If you mean eat gluten for 2 weeks then have a 2nd test, 2 weeks will not work. If you are gluten intolerant, then eating gluten once will prove to you that you can't have it. -
ARCHIVED Dry Socket Clove Paste
darlindeb25 replied to pupok's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To be totally sure it's gluten free, you would have to call the dentist, get the proper name and an 800# to call. That's the only way to be sure. -
ARCHIVED Celiac / Gluten Free Informational Books
darlindeb25 replied to Becci's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Gluten Free for Dummies is wonderful. Also, The Gluten Free Bible is good. You will like both of them. -
I started menopause in my early 40's. My mom had a hysterectomy in her 30's, so I can't go by her. My sister is somewhat going through menopause now, and don't tell her I said this, she is almost 51. By 49, my cycles had stopped completely, which was a blessing for me. They were always so heavy. Then at 51, I had a hysterectomy. As Gemini, it is freeing...

ARCHIVED Kraft Miracle Whip
darlindeb25 replied to Desy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Me too...always Miracle Whip, never any other, and I loved it. It is made with soy though, so I can't have it anymore. -
ARCHIVED Can You Be Glutened Topically?
darlindeb25 replied to TotalKnowledge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is the key statement in Dr. Fasano's article. BASED ON WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW...this says it all. They aren't sure, they just think they may be correct. -
ARCHIVED Probably Fed Up Of Postings Like This...
darlindeb25 replied to SlamDuncan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had terrible diarrhea, nearly every night, sometimes 1/2 of the day. My stomach would hurt so much, and sometimes, it felt like one huge black and blue. Gluten intolerance does not just involve the small intestine. Your symptoms sound to me as though you should get tested, and soon. Some of us have severe symptoms, some have milder...no 2 are exactly... -
ARCHIVED Celiac / Gluten Free Informational Books
darlindeb25 replied to Becci's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
"Healthier Without Wheat" by Dr. Stephen Wangen, is wonderful...he is called "the gluten intolerant" doctor. The Gluten Free Bible, is good too. Dr. PEter Green's book is good too, but I can't remember the name of it. -
ARCHIVED Can You Be Glutened Topically?
darlindeb25 replied to TotalKnowledge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Once again, very hot topic. Obviously, for those who do not react to topical gluten, they believe gluten has to be ingested for a reaction...for those of us who do react to topical gluten, we know it only need touch us to cause a reaction. Those who do not react will never believe us, and those who do, will always share their reactions. I do react, and... -
ARCHIVED Soy Protein Vs Soy Lecithin
darlindeb25 replied to Lexi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Soy protein is what most people react to. Soy lecithin is said to have no soy protein in it. I can't do soy, including soy oil, yet I can handle soy lecithin. Same as potatoes. I can't eat anything with potatoes in it, yet I can eat potato chips...they say whatever is harmful to me in potatoes is gone once they become potato chips. I talked with a... -
ARCHIVED All My Make-up, Shampoo, And Lotion Has Gluten!
darlindeb25 replied to ll79's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link At first, I thought I could only get it online, then we had our gluten free vendor fair, and a lady was selling it. Cost just about the same price from her though as it does with shipping online. It's well worth it's cost. I get this rash on my tummy, and this peppermint lotion is the only thing that clears it up. I also use... -
ARCHIVED Ellen Degeneres - Gluten Free!
darlindeb25 replied to JustCan's topic in Publications & Publicity
I agree Barbara (sixtytwo). Being gluten intolerant is just as bad as being celiac, although, I do believe without a doubt, that we are all celiac, in different stages. One day, this will all be discovered by the scientists too, especially when one of them is gluten intolerant/celiac. Then it will be figured out. I have always loved Ellen, and my... -
ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Get Dh In Genital Area?
darlindeb25 replied to glutenmommy's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Well, this certainly dots the "i's" and crosses the "t's" for me. I lived exactly what you are talking about before going gluten free. The terrible itching, and extremely painful...every cream I tried barely touched it. I too, remember showering was painful, and probably the worst of the itching was after showering for several hours. This went on for... -
ARCHIVED All My Make-up, Shampoo, And Lotion Has Gluten!
darlindeb25 replied to ll79's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is truly a hot topic. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it only matters how you feel, and what you think. I know I am gluten intolerant, much more reactive than many are. There is an acceptable level of 20ppm to justify saying a product is gluten free. Some of us cannot tolerate 20ppm, nor 10ppm, or even 5ppm. All grains cause a reaction... -
ARCHIVED Has Anybody Been Diagnosed W/out Weight Loss?
darlindeb25 replied to mindyandy420's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When I was my sickest, I was my heaviest. Many, maybe even half of all celiacs/gluten intolerant are overweight. It always used to state that one symptom was weight loss, now they are finally updating that to state, weight loss/gain. I lost 60# after going gluten free. I belong to a huge support group, and we get new members all the time, most are not... -
ARCHIVED Does The Insomnia Get Better?
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I too have insomnia. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, then insomnia, then told I had chronic fatigue syndrome. The doc told me to get as much rest as possible, and exercise...which is next to impossible with insomnia. I too have Lunesta, and Sonata, but the majority of the time I use melatonin. Lunesta gives me tummy cramps, and the Sonata doesn't work... -
ARCHIVED How Many People Are Actually Self-diagnosed?
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Dr. Green was speaking at one of our support meetings, and he stated, most of the top celiac doctors in America are from foreign countries. I guess they had to come to teach our American doctors. -
ARCHIVED Coffee Processed Without Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to BuffyWWJD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am not going to argue with you. I do not use them because I do not trust them. If you want to try them, that's your prerogative, just as it is my right to believe as I do. All I know is, because I do believe there are flavored coffees containing gluten, and I voice that opinion, then others will be sure to check before they drink one and get ill. That... -
ARCHIVED High Fructose Corn Syrup
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think HFCS is much worse than sugar, even though I do not use either. I do use Splenda, which is made from sugar. I like it and have stopped using Nutrasweet, Equal, and such. -
ARCHIVED Don't Get The Big Deal About Trader Joe's
darlindeb25 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I live on Long Island, NY, and have 2 Trader Joe's close to me, and I am not impressed with either of them. To begin with, they aren't a very clean store, and all the gluten free products are shoved in with the gluten containing products. On top of that, there isn't much in the line of gluten free foods there. I'm with your Northern Elf. -
ARCHIVED Coffee Processed Without Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to BuffyWWJD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I do not bother to read flavored coffee labels any longer, I will not use them. I do however know, many flavored teas contain gluten. Celestial Seasoning Teas will always list gluten, and many of them do contain gluten. No one should have to prove anything. Warning others to always read the ingredients before purchasing is always the best thing to... -
ARCHIVED What Foods Are You Intolerant To?
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
To be honest, I eat a fairly healthy diet. Chicken breast, cod, talipia, tuna, peas, carrots, green beans, and many fruits, always fresh or packed in their own juice. I also use peanut butter, Skippy Naturals, or Jif Naturals...and I can eat Utz popato chips.
