ARCHIVED Mc Donalds Ff
darlindeb25 replied to bear6954's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You will find a lot of controversy about McDonald's fries, yet, they are gluten free. People will tell you they aren't, they will tell you they get glutened by them...you will get a number of answers. They are gluten free, sometimes, in some stores, you do have to worry about cross contamination, just depends on how clean your McDonald's is. In Michigan... -
ARCHIVED The Miracle Of Magnesium

Ok, so which magniesuim is the best? I understand there is a big difference in all the mag supplements out there. -
ARCHIVED Dannon
darlindeb25 replied to cookiequeen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
At least they are admitting it now. We have never been able to trust Dannon. 8 yrs ago when my sis and I went gluten free, Dannon would not disclose what was in their products, so we have not trusted them since then. I do not use any of their products. -

ARCHIVED Shampoo?
darlindeb25 replied to wsieving's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is an age old argument among the gluten free. To be quite honest, those who do use gluten containing products are playing russian roulette. They are very lucky they have not been glutened yet. Especially when it's a child, I think it is very important to use ALL gluten free products. There is really no way to tell if the gluten is completely... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Gene/intolerance ?
darlindeb25 replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it is very possible. Not everyone has full blown celiac disease, either way, the RX for celiac/gluten intolerance is the same, NO GLUTEN. Many of us do not have an official diagnosis, many of us could not afford it, or was told you are not celiac, yet still know gluten free is the way to be! If you feel much better gluten free, then by all... -
ARCHIVED Joint/muscle
darlindeb25 replied to master44's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah Master, it sounds like neuropathy to me. Symptoms with neuropathy can come and go. I have small fiber neuropathy in my legs and feet, plus my arms and hands. I can understand this "gripping" feeling you mention. Mine is not usually in the joints though. I get this feeling about 5 inches above my ankles, and it feels like someone is holding onto... -
Sarah, going gluten free is just the beginning. Your body needs time to rid itself of the toxins, then it needs time to heal. You didn't get sick overnight, and you will not feel better overnight. 4 weeks really is not a long time, for some, it takes 2 yrs to heal, some, like me do not heal totally, but i was sick for more yrs that you are old, before...

ARCHIVED Hydroval Hydrocortisone Cream
darlindeb25 replied to nb-canada's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It may be gluten free, yet you may be having an allergic reaction to it. Many people can not use hydrocotisone cream. Doctors will tell you it's completely safe, and you can't be allergic to it because it's what they use for allergic reactions, but that's not true. I had a nasty sunburn and the doc I work for told me to thickly lather on hydrocortisone... -
ARCHIVED Butter
darlindeb25 replied to hrly169's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter...is not butter, it's margarine. It is gluten free though. I agree with Momma Goose, check the label, yet, as a rule, butter is gluten free. Margarines are loaded with soy quite often, so I no longer use them. Then last week I received this in an email, and I also checked it out at snopes.com and found this to be true... -

I have no trouble with apples, I only eat yellow delicious and gala's. Now banana's do cause problems for me. -
ARCHIVED Beware Of Soy!
darlindeb25 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, but you see Riceguy, that's only your opinion. I do not think I have been reading misinterpretations, or half-truths...I have made a solid conclusion...IMHO, soy is bad for everyone, I know it's bad for my family and me. -
ARCHIVED Waiting Forever
darlindeb25 replied to wsieving's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A good specialist is worth their weight in gold!!! When they are good, it always takes a long time to see them. I wanted to see this neurologist, Dr. G...#1 in his field. A friend of mine finally got an appt with him and he was very impressed, and he had seen several neuro's previously. I called for an appt with him and could not be seen for 4-5 months... -

You are not overreacting, not by a long shot. Maybe if you had suggested the food court in the mall, they would have agreed to go there. There is always pizza at the food courts too, and something for you. People who aren't celiac/gluten intolerant, sometimes do not think.

ARCHIVED High Fructose Corn Syrup - Gluten Free But . . . .
darlindeb25 replied to home-based-mom's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I've seen this commercial, and didn't even realize it was about HFCS. As I was listening to it, I kept thinking, "This is the dumbest ad I have ever seen"! I hear the woman say, "Nothing's wrong with this, it's just corn"! Now I will have to listen to the stupid ad one more time, I didn't realize it was about HFCS. As for the FDA, I have lost all faith... -
ARCHIVED Beware Of Soy!
darlindeb25 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Why are there so many articles about Asians not eating that much soy. Sorry, nothing will change my mind about soy, IT'S BAD, period!!! Open Original Shared Link Just How Much Soy Did Asains Eat? In short, not that much, and contrary to what the industry may claim soy has never been a staple in Asia. A study of the history of soy use in Asia shows... -
ARCHIVED High Fructose Corn Syrup - Gluten Free But . . . .
darlindeb25 replied to home-based-mom's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My mom always says, milk is for baby calves, and corn is for fattening hogs. I truly believe that high fructose corn syrup is bad for everyone and it does cause you to gain weight. I got an email yesterday about how bad margarine is for everyone, and how it is one step from being plastic. I checked it out at snopes.com, and it's all true. I wish our govt... -
ARCHIVED Beware Of Soy!
darlindeb25 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Of course, as in anything else, this is an individual decision. 4 or my 5 children had soy formula, and now, I wish I had tried harder to find an alternate for them. I didn't know then, what I know now, and I did what the doctor told me to do. Doctor's were gods then, you listened to every word they said, and you NEVER QUESTIONED them. Now I realize,... -
If you go to Emeril's website, it discusses celiac disease, Open Original Shared Link . I was checking to see if his pan spray is gluten-free, and I came across this website!
