ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
And yes, this is your choice Deb to be in controll of your health life. Trusting your health to you and you alone is the only way to go. I totally agree 100%. But choose it for you. As you know well, you can offer supported information and it is up the the reader to accept or not accept. This is the big problem, in my opinion. I do not see supported... -
Thank you, another question answered! As for the endo, I will not return to him. I can't recal if I told you about his comment. He said to me, "Just because you have antibodies does not mean there is a problem." Then he said, "If your doctor discovered you have a uterus and sent you to me because you might be pregnant, he would be at fault, just because...

ARCHIVED Migraines
darlindeb25 replied to JodiC's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If I knew then, what I know now, I would have tested my kids with gluten free just to see if it helped. My kids all suffer headaches, I too have one everyday of my life. My son Nick was on beta-blockers at the age of 6 for migraines and he still has them, not as bad as when he was young. His son and daughter, 8 and 7, both have migraines and Colin is on... -
ARCHIVED Adhd? Gluten Sensitivity? Any Help Would Be Great-
darlindeb25 replied to bec's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with Vincent. Sometimes it resembles ADHD so closely, but is allergy induced--which is a good thing, in that respect. Take away the allergen, and you have your happy child back. -
ARCHIVED Tricks To Get Me To Take My Vitamins?
darlindeb25 replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
All very good suggestions!!!!! I am like Clark Bent (cute name), my short term memory is bad too, so I keep everything in it's place. My vitamins are in a little 7-day container that I keep next to the coffee maker. I take them religiously every morning. It becomes habit. I have my set up so that they run out on Sunday morning when I have plenty of time... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you Scott. I agree, except for this statement: Last, if you buy a product that was made in the USA and sold in the USA, you really don't need to worry about Modified Food Starch, it is safe--or as safe as anything can be (sure, you can continue to worry about such things if you want to, but please don't try to make others here worry about it without... -
ARCHIVED Son's Last Day Of High School
darlindeb25 replied to Teacher1958's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Graduation was not as difficult for me as when he moved to his own apartment. I have 5 kids and I was upset when each one moved out. It's part of that job we call "motherhood". -
ARCHIVED Parmesan Cheese
darlindeb25 replied to Terrilyn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have tried many and not found one yet with gluten--maybe there is a cross contamination issue. -
I do not understand why he didn't schedule a biospy before having you try gluten free. That was when he should have done it. I know pain and know it well, if I were you, I would not put myself through that pain. A diagnosis of celiac disease is not that important, I mean having it on paper isn't. I do not have a diagnosis on paper and there is no doubt...

ARCHIVED Things To Mull Over.....
darlindeb25 replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which to burn. Some people find that the most difficult instrument to learn to play is second fiddle. The key to failure is trying to please everybody. These 3 are the story of my life, so far. It took me a long time to figure out the difference between the bridges, but finally I crossed... -
Hashi's is Hashimoto's Disease. Loraleena and Ksmith--can your antibodies rise and fall too? Can they change at different times of the day? Trying to learn all I can. I just found it so strange that when this new doctor saw me, he told me he knew that my numbers would not have changed from April and they were so different. Why didn't he catch that...

This is the autoimmune form of the disease. Your body is actually making antibodies against your thyroid. This is very common in celiacs. I said this very thing to the endo I saw and he ignored me!!! I have got to find someone good to see. Thank you.

ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I won't eat it. The only time I purchase a product that has MFS is when it states it is from corn, I much prefer to have the product state, modified cornstarch! I am very leery of most products, I must be doing something right, since I have only been glutened a few times in almost 7 years. -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link Modified Food Starch: Modified food starch can be derived from many sources: corn, tapioca, potato, wheat, or other starches. Most modified food starch in North America is derived from non-gluten-containing sources. It is still prudent, however, to check with the manufacturer, asking from what source the modified food starch is... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception

Now the dogs in stores part I think I read too fast, I don't know what that pertains to. Nasty hygine in stores? Lack of following rules? Both true sometimes I think.KG in FL--this was simply an example of how lax the policing is of these FDA rules. A law is only as good as those who are making sure the law is truly in effect. If the FDA will continue... -
Thank you all and no, I didn't see the link before to Dr. Lowe, but Loraleena, I have it saved in my favorites now. ksmith, you stated to me: however, you tested positive for Hashi's which pretty much makes any other lab values mootCan you explain this. The doc didn't say anything about Hashi and I would love to know what you mean. I need all the help...

ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Many forget that celiac is a disease that little is still known about. The person speaking may not have a problem with certain things but their presentation may be different from mine. This is so very true. Just the fact that so many feel you must have certain genes to be celiac, that you can't become celiac otherwise. I do not think we know enough yet... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
(and who actually thinks the melamine in the rice and wheat gluten didn't make it into human food?).This is very scary to me and the first thing I said when it all started was, "How can we be sure this isn't in the general public's food?" I live in an area with so many different nationalities represented. Some of the foods on the grocery shelves are things... -

ARCHIVED Oats
darlindeb25 replied to roo#9's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I do not trust them either. I do not think they know enough yet about oats to say they are safe. Oats always made me ill anyways. I find it very hard to believe that a company can guarantee they are safe. That company would have to grow their own oats, mill them on their own property, and never, ever have wheat there for any other product just to prevent... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
RKB's voice on this forum is just as important as anyone else's. His opinion is just as important as momma goose's. I totally agree with RKB and always have. Lovegov has the same opinion as you momma goose and that's fine, it's your opinions. RKB refuses to fall prey to these companies who always state, "We will always state the origin of the products... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You stormed onto this site like a bull in a china shop.I disagree. I do not feel he stormed in here at all, he just stated a simple fact that some of us do not want to hear. I totally agree with him and I have been stating that for some time. We can't trust our govt to protect us from gluten. It will never happen. DKB just gave us a strong reminder of... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
darlindeb25 replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah Deb: I see this too in foodstores; only animals to be in there are "working animals" like seeing eye dogs, etc. This is usually a Health Code violation and the store manager should say something to that person. Yes, it is a health code violation, initated by the FDA. In Michigan, I never saw a dog or any other pet in a food store. I worked the service... -
I know the BComplex with B12 in it is gluten-free. There is nothing in the ingredients to prove otherwise. I have been taking it for 2 years now and I did ask before using it. I did want to try their Woman +50 multi-vitamin, and they state it is gluten free, yet it contains barley grass and I will not try it. Always ask and read, read, read.

the little girl in your picture is she your daughter or your niece Thank you, she is my granddaughter, Brooklyn. She was 6 at the time and will be 9 next month. In that pic, I think she has many of my features, which would make her mom crazy! I have 7 grandchildren now, Scott 9, Angel 5, Taylor 9, Harley 3, Brooklyn 8, Colin 7, and the little guy, Ethin...
