  1. I had a pharmicist tell me he had no idea what gluten free was and that he didn't have the time to bother finding out. His boss reprimanded him for that attitude and told me from now on I would never have trouble with him again, yet now, I do not trust him. I will never use that pharmacy again. I would never trust him to actually find out if the product...
  2. Yes, Johnson's Baby Powder is gluten free, the cornstartch type is too. I never use cornstarch baby powder because I can't use corn and it makes me break out , but it is gluten-free and safe for you, as long as you can have corn.
  3. Well, I have the same problem--pages and pages of "new posts" PLUS--it keeps logging me out--THAT I HATE! I will hit reply and when it is going from the thread to reply, it logs me out, or sometimes, just going from one thread to another, I get logged out, it's veru aggravating. Nearly everytime I come into the forum I have to sign in and YES, I do have...
  4. 2 of my sons have had 2 different doctors look at them and state, "You don't look celiac!" One even told one son he doesn't look diabetic! He was asking to be tested for both, my ex is a type 2 diabetic who is now insulin dependent and has a heart condition because of it. That son is now pre diabetic at 30 years old, is on GERD meds, has arthritis in his...
  5. Yup--me too, my daughter, my mother, my granddaughter--we gots it too. Seems to happen often, more often then many realize. My daughter can not have any metal jewelry touch her. So far, she has not complained about the zipper in her jeans, but then again, I am not sure it touches her, she wears them so big. I bought her a stone cross on a rope and the...
  6. Happy Belated Birthday Paula. I can't recall, but I do not think I have had cake for 7 yrs, but then I never really cared for cake anyways, so I do not miss it much. Yesterday I hurt so much, every joint, every muscle and a male friend told me I needed some soup. And I told him, I want some Cream of Chicken soup so bad, with noodles, but that is...
  7. It's true LighteningBolt, none of live in your situation, none of know what he is like or what you are like and none of us live in your situation--everyone is just showing how much they care and some of what they have been through. Usually, what a person has lived through is so hurtful that it is hard for them to see others in the same types of situations...
  8. I have never reacted to Lays Original or Wavy chips. I have no idea which plant they came from (I just checked, Plano Tx )--the weird thing is, I can not eat potatoes in any other form, only the chips. Now explain that to me!!!!
  9. Be careful with the hydrocortizone cream too, I am allergic to it. The doc I work for told me to use it on a sunburn a few years ago and I had a severe reaction to it, to which he told me I was wrong, that people just are not allergic to hydrocortizone cream. So then, I researched it on the internet and he is wrong, many people can't tolerate it and they...
  10. Now I'm a big girl and I do not get diaper rash anymore, of course I don't think your kids are either! I think they are getting a rash in a very warm area, a nice spot for a rash to form, and that's why it's there. I get a rash on my tummy, below my belly button whenever I get soy or corn, even the tiniest amount and it's a nasty red, sometimes raw rash...
  11. Thanks Susan (my sister calls my daughter SusieQ, her name is Holly Sue). I wish my mother would read these things, but I have given up. I have stopped printing things from the internet for her, she tells me I have "got to stop believing what I read on the net cause none of it is true!" I just give up, she knows it all, so there is no sense in my bothering...
  12. From what I understand, if you have dermatitis herpetiformis you do have celiac disease. You need a doctor to test her rash specifically for this. If she is celiac, going gluten free will clear up the rash and that is what you really want, right? Chances are, if you are celiac, then chances are she is too, especially with this huge rash. Please get it...

    ARCHIVED New Here

. To begin with--here in the US, this isn't true--tax benefits are very hard to come by just because you are celiac. I was in the hospital, the doctor knew I was celiac, the nurses knew, it was on my dietary chart and still, they would bring me medication and have no knowledge as to whether it was gluten free or not, they told me to bring my own medication...
  14. Sounds to me like you were glutened. It happens and we just have to clean ourself off and "get back on the horse" so to speak. I haven't been glutened in a very long time, yet I still manage to get soy or corn occasionally and each time I get so angry with myself. Friday morning as I was getting ready to shower, I noticed my huge, raw, red rash my my tummy...
  15. Some people just can't be convinced. This person has it in her/his head that their kid can't be helped and that is something that he/she needs to overcome. All you can do is offer the information and they have to take it or leave it. I know you want to help the child, yet until the parent wants to accept the info, you are helpless, sad, but true. Just...
  16. Also Cody--if you have only been gluten free for 2 months, your body is still ridding itself of toxins from the gluten. It takes time to recover from years of gluten, it never happens overnight. My soy or corn reactions now cause a nasty rash. I never get much, if I get any, so it's usually just a nasty rash, if I get too much, then I also get constipapted...
  17. This is weird, I never thought much about noses and 3 weeks ago I had my first visit with an ENT for tinnitus. I have a field of cicadas in my ears and he did a full exam, which indicates he can find no reason for the tinnitus--probably deficiency related, where have we heard that before? Anyways--in this exam, he found my septum to have a hole in it. ...
  18. Mommida: This is something that many will tell you happens often, children hear and sense things that we adults ignore. Children are innocent and they are able to believe things that we feel we shouldn't, so they don't block these things when they happen, just because they think they should--did that make sense? Honestly, I feel grandpa came to your...
  19. Eat simple, potatoes, rice, chicken, tuna--you do not need to buy the processed "gluten free" foods to be healthy. If you bake, then yes, you will have to buy the more expensive "gluten-free" flours, that's true. Lay's regular potato chips are gluten-free, there are a host of regular products that are gluten-free, you just have to learn to read the labels...
  20. Katyo--when you work in an enviroment where flour can be in the air, you could be having problems. Flour gets on everything, it floats in the air and lands everywhere. Everything you touch will have flour on it. Anything your hand touches can conceivably get to your food. Even if you just feel a hair on your tongue and you reach to remove it, you could...
  21. Awwwwwwwwwww Thank you!
  22. Jin, did I misunderstand you? Do you think I am 25, God bless you!!!!! I am 52 now--my daughter in the pic with me will be 25 on Tuesday though!!!!!!! She was due on my birthday, but just didn't want to be born on that day!
  23. Silly--it's the best cake anyone has made me since going gluten free--thank you very much!
  24. Thank you for the good wishes. No Jin--nothing, just worked. My family is all 800 miles away, kind of a sad day for me. Birthday's are not to be had alone and thanks to all of you, you have brightened the day for me.
