ARCHIVED Uti Med, Gluten Free Or Not...hmmmm!
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks, I only saw 2 different brands here, the AZO and the other brand name one my doc mentioned, which isn't either of the ones you mentioned. To be honest Nyxie, my neuropathy kind of masks my symptoms until they get bad, usually the lower back pain is my first clue and it is still hurting me. Thanks, both of you for responding. -
ARCHIVED Uti Med, Gluten Free Or Not...hmmmm!
darlindeb25 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, for now, I wish I had never taken the stuff, or do I? Each experience any of us has, is a learning experiece for us all, so I guess it's ok I did take it. Well--here goes. On Saturday, I didn't feel well, but couldn't quite pinpoint why. I have peripheral neuropathy and have had UTI's before and my neuropathy is very good at masking symptoms for... -
Just leave a hole for straw feedings!!!!!!! Thank you, that was very cute!!!!!! Yes, I know you were kidding and don't all us parents have these thoughts at times, I have 5 grown kids!

ARCHIVED I Cant Believe Im Saying This But....
darlindeb25 replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Me too! When I get constipated, it is either soy or corn causing the problem, never gluten. I honestly do not think walking past the bakery in your grocery store will gluten you, I can't be sure of course, yet I do doubt it. I will say though, after over 7 yrs of being gluten free, the smell of fresh baked bread in a bakery no longer makes me want it,... -
This is true of all celiac's, not just gluten intolerant, to a certain extent. I do not believe eating gluten causes the body's natural pain killer's to be released, I do know that we all are addicted to gluten, just as some are addicted to drugs. Gluten is an addiction and we must, always fight that addiction, and never give in, just as a drug addict can...

ARCHIVED Additional Autoimmune Disease
darlindeb25 replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sometimes, I wonder if the problem is that so many celiac's go undiagnosed for so long, then other autoimmune diseases work their way into the process. Many times, other diseases are diagnosed before celiac disease has been found. Some say, if the celiac disease is diagnosed soon enough, then possibly the other autoimmune diseases just will not happen.... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Do When You Realize You Are Eating Something Bad?
darlindeb25 replied to colorado's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
After 7 1/2 years of being gluten free, I still panic if I think I have eaten gluten and I stopped eating the food, whatever it is, no matter how good it is. I can't rinse my mouth out fast enough and then I stress over it. Usually, if this happens to me, it is just a threat of gluten and actually not gluten at all and I worry about nothing. Which, by... -
ARCHIVED Eating The Same Foods Everyday
darlindeb25 replied to NoSugarShell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You do not develop an intolerance or allergy simply by thinking it, that isn't possible! I am reading a good book right now called, "the Mood Cure". It talks a lot about how gluten has been an evil in our existance for a very long time now and it has nothing to do with celiac disease. It talks about "bad mood" foods and "good mood" foods and it does tell... -
ARCHIVED Changing Reactions To Alcohol
darlindeb25 replied to Sailing Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Add me to the list. I have never been much of a drinker anyways, so not being able to drink doesn't really matter to me, yet, it is another thing I can't have. Even a tiny glass of wine is a huge hangover the next day and I don't even get to be giddy from it. At my nephew Todd's wedding, my sister had made jello shots and they were delicious--I was so... -
ARCHIVED Playlist Ideas For Working Out
darlindeb25 replied to gfmolly's topic in Sports and Fitness
Well, Country and Country/Blues is all there is out there worth listening too so, I guess you don't want my vote ! I love Country music. How about a cross over song--how about Rockstar--I Wanna Be a Rockstar should be great to work out to--started out as rock music and crossed over to country--makes us both happy!!!!! -
ARCHIVED New Years Resolutions
darlindeb25 replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Happy New Year everyone. I have never done NY's resolutions because as a rule, well, we all know what happens! I think you have all set some very good goals and goals are much different than resolutions! I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and, what will be, will be! I wish us all, love and happiness in the coming year and never, ever... -
ARCHIVED Guys - Peripheral Symptoms? (don't Read If Easily Shocked)
darlindeb25 replied to gfp's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, maybe you should have some blood work done and see just what you are missing! That's a good start. Can you eat bananas for the leg cramps? My mom always swore by mineral water, she hates bananas. Are you drinking enough water? I think the intial problem is effecting your performance, but your performance is not the intial problem, if that... -
ARCHIVED Twitches And Spasms
darlindeb25 replied to Joe Hoffman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Be careful with magnesium though, too much causes diarrhea, so if you feel better and get diarrhea, back off a little on the magnesuim. This was how my mom's doctor told her to adjust her magnesuim intake, by trial and error. -
Morning MDB, most insurances here in the US do not cover special diets. I work in a doctor's office and deal with insurance everyday. I can tell you that within one company, there are 1000's of policies, so you should go to your Human Resource dept or call and ask your ins company what your individual coverage is.

ARCHIVED Light Sensitive Upon Waking
darlindeb25 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Tiffany, I am not insulted by you or pissed off, simply stating a fact. I'm sorry that you are insulted by the opinion of the doctor I work for--he is a specialist and does not receive any kickbacks from any of these companies. So, he has no reason to argue one way or the other, his opinion is based strictly on the health of the eye and if my son was wearing... -
ARCHIVED More Help Please
darlindeb25 replied to Joe Hoffman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Joe, Well, has anyone mentioned the cookie sheet yet? Has you purchased a new cookie sheet for your cookies. Gluten can hide in scratches on the old cookie sheets and you may be getting gluten in that way too. As for the peanut butter, I have used peanut butter since my first day of going gluten free, I never stopped using it. Back then, I always used... -
If he will read a book about celiac, get him The Gluten Connection, or The Gluten Free Bible, even Gluten Free for Dummies is a wonderful book--any of the 3 are wonderful reading material for anyone needing to know everything they need to know about this disease. He isn't alone in his belief, even some celiac's believe "just a little gluten can't hurt!"...

ARCHIVED Salad Dressing
darlindeb25 replied to eternity's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was always told there was something in the light that changed it so we could not have it, so I never tried it, this was back before the labeling law. I never truly trusted Kraft when they said they could be "totally" trusted anyways! I can't have soy, so all of the salad dressings are off limits to me, unless they are canola oil based. Hellmann's had... -

ARCHIVED Reunion Day - First Day Of Winter
darlindeb25 replied to debmidge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Deb, do you remember a man from Florida, who started posting here about 3 or 4 yrs ago and he posted in hours---"I have been gluten free for xx amount of hours and this ......... has happened". Between my hysterectomy and celiac, my memory is shot, and I can't remember what his name was in the forum--his posts were wonderful. He didn't drive, he rode a... -

ARCHIVED Light Sensitive Upon Waking
darlindeb25 replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well Tiffany--I stick to my original warning--wearing contacts while sleeping is dangerous. Yes, I work for an eye doctor, an optometrist, who is a contact lens specialist, one who comes highly recommended by many other doctors. We do fit many patients with the Focus Night/Days and we always recommend they do not wear them to bed, absolutely never. Dr... -
ARCHIVED Clueless Doctors
darlindeb25 replied to Joe Hoffman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Raven has a good point--yes, I am very happy that celiac disease is what I have and not Parkinsons or MS, or cancer, yet years and years of misdiagnosis has also stressed my body in a way that it will never recover from. Just the stress from all those years alone, caused damage, then there is the physical damage. As, I am so sorry, names fail me at times... -
ARCHIVED Getting Kicked Off Tonight
darlindeb25 replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Well, this happens to me all the time, has been happening since the site was revamped a while back., it happened just 5 mins ago! I contacted Scott and of course, it must be the fault of my computer, thing is, I do not have a problem with any other forum, not a single forum. I am the member of several forums and stay signed in to all of them, but this one...
