  1. Nurse Diesel, this is the first time I have heard anyone else connect swallowing meat with Sjogren's. I never connected the 2. I have a terrible time sometimes with this. Not just meat though, used to be worse with bread, which I never have now--I just never heard it had anything to do with Sjogren's. Very interesting! I have been diagnosed with dry...
  2. I stand corrected--I said I had no idea!!! I did bring your post to the front so you did get some good answers though!
  3. If you are celiac, or gluten intolerant, and have gone gluten free, the malabsorption problems should start to improve with time. I have never crushed my supplements, although for a time, I did take a liquid B12, but only because it was a good sublingual gluten free form of B12, not because it was liquid. If you feel better about taking them crushed, then...
  4. I have already been to an ENT and my ear ringing is not related to my ears in any way that they can determine. I have slight hearing loss, but very slight, it's not TMJ, and they could not find any other problem relating to my ears. So, I am one of those, "We really have no answer for you, it may go away, or you may always have the ringing, we can't say...
  5. One of my friends recently told me, she heard a discussion on tv the other day about ear ringing. They have been doing a study on this and have come to find out that sometimes it really doesn't have anything to do with the ears, that it is a glitch in the brain. Now they are trying to figure out how to bypass this glitch to stop the ringing, which is something...
  6. I read this and I want to cry. I remember as a teenager, going to the dentist and having a mouthful of cavities, being reminded that I was not brushing my teeth good enough, yet knowing I was---now, realizing that probably even then the damage was being done and we didn't even know! I have to wonder about this disease and what we know. They say that...
  7. Definitely stop taking them and see if things get better! When a company can't be sure, then I can't trust them.
  8. From the articles I am finding, I think the answers can only be found within the doctors you finally decide to place your trust. The final decision is yours. I just found 2 different articles in the same site: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link One says shots are really not necessary, the other says shots are better for some conditions...
  9. I'm sorry, what I posted in here earlier today, didn't belong in this thread, it belonged in another thread about vitamin B12. Later when I was looking for it, I thought I had lost it, I am not sure how I posted it here, it must have seemed out of place to some of you--very sorry about that. As I read your ingredients list for this vitamin, it does sound...
  10. Ok Riceguy--what I meant to say is: B12 sublinguals go to the stomach. As I stated, B12 is a huge molecule, and can not be absorbed--other sbulinguals can. You didn't do your homework. Here's link from Medscape explaining what I meant, I'm sorry I didn't think to include it to begin with. My neurologist explained this to me because he doesn't want...
  11. I never have, I have been gluten free for 7 1/2 years and have never had trouble with Lay's plain. Many members say the safe Lay's chips are only made in Plano, Texas, that is stated on the bag and I have noticed since then, any bag I ever have is from Plano Texas, so maybe that is why I have not been glutened by them. I have never seen any from anywhere...
  12. I can't say for sure, yet am pretty positive it's not from the B12, but probably from a filler in the actual vitamin. Never take a vitamin without knowing it's gluten status. Just because it looks safe, does not mean it is. Most of the good vitamin companies will now state if they are gluten free and it is worth asking--a vitamin is something you take...
  13. My celiac support group sent this around to the members last night in an email. I voted then and Pet Lovers was at 37% and the Food Allergies was at 36%, this morning, the Food Allergies is at 54% and Pet Lovers has dropped down to 28%--it's looking good for us. Now let's hope they do a good article covering celiac. You would think with a member of her...
  14. Ok, I stand corrected about some Paul Mitchell Products, all the ones I checked out had gluten in them. I'm glad your haircolor is gluten free.
  15. Sublinguals go to your stomach too, the only B12 that bypasses your stomach is in shot form. OTC products like we see for B12 don't have to provide bioavailability data to sell them. Because B12 is a huge molecule, and the mouth surface is small, I don't expect much gets absorbed. I think most is dissolved in the saliva and swallowed. So just see that you...
  16. These little tests are so weird. I am Republican and proud of it. Yet, John Edwards appeared at the top of my list, with Rudy Guiliani in 2nd place, who has recently backed out to support John McCain who came in 3rd on my list. Now, Barack Obama was 4th and Hilary came in 6th and actually, they should not have even made my list! I do truly feel our country...
  17. Please have your B12 levels checked before starting B12 supplements too. It's a simple blood test, just ask your doctor for a specific B12 level. And do not be surprised if he/she tells you that your level is fine when it comes back and it seems very low, most doctors have no idea what the B12 level should be and they assume a low level is fine, when it...
  18. Sorry jmengert--every Paul Mitchell product I touched at the hair dresser a few weeks ago, contained gluten, it was listed clearly on the product, such as: wheat germ! Paul Mitchell is not safe for celiac's. I use Garnier Nutrisse and have for several years. I have used L'Oreal and Herbal Essense, but prefer Garnier Nutrisse, but then I stick to the...
  19. Diabetic foot care products are really good for us to use. I put lotion on my feet every morning and night now, trying to keep them reasonably smooth, they had gotten so bad and I found one St. Ives lotion that is safe--only the one though--Aloe & Chamomile. If you can tolerate corn, Corn Huskers is great. Also, if you can wear socks to bed, many people...
  20. Joe, It's great you are doing so well! To be honest, we all learn the hard way, it's how we have to learn. It's honestly the best way to learn, baby steps. Mistakes help us learn lessons and we remember them much better. Any time you have a question, feel free to email me, my aol is always there!!!! I was glutened by a medication a few weeks ago...
  21. I trust those who have never let me down, which sometimes are those that others have complained about. I have never been glutened by Lays Potato Chips, which, I always buy the plain ones or Rippled and only from Plano TX, I also, everyday, eat 2 Quaker Caramel Corn Ricecakes and have never, in 7 1/2 yrs, never been glutened by them. I use products with...
  22. Anxiety has always been a very big symptom of my celiac disease. Funny how it is such a huge part for some of us and nothing for others. Isn't it amazing how different the symptoms are? I think my anxiety began, just as someone else mentioned, from the worry that a bathroom would not be close enough. My first horrible panic attack was over 25 yrs ago...
  23. Funny, a couple weeks ago, I was rinsing my earrings in peroxide, which I have always done. 10 minutes later, I noticed that my right thumb had white lines across it. This was very pronounced, got my attention. Funny to be reading this after having this happen. Learn something everyday! I have never had my fingerprints taken, so I may never have known...
  24. Congrats!!! Babies are such miracles. My 3rd son Nick and his wife Cristy are expecting their 3rd child in April. The baby is a total surprise, the other 2 kids are 9 and 8. The 2nd ultrasound seems to make them think the baby is a boy and my Nick called and says, "Mom, I wanted another girl, Colin is so much work!" Hehe, I told him that ultrasounds...
  25. Ursa, I feel for you, I understand totally how you feel. Our kids are one thing, especially when they are adults, we can't make them take care of themselves. When we see them abusing their children, our grandchildren, it breaks our hearts. Feeding gluten to a gluten free child is abuse, in my eyes. I have 7 grandchildren, and one on the way, I understand...
