The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ground lamb, with onions, mushrooms, zucchini, tomato with brown rice pasta (reintroduction on pasta, so fingers crossed). Nice to be back. Had a week away, stayed with 3 different friends, and I did all my own cooking in their kitchens, with my own equipment. No glutening, yay!!! -

ARCHIVED Living Normally While Battling Celiac Is Like:
Celiac Mindwarp replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would say my life isn't normal at the moment. I am optimistic by nature. But I have been thoroughly tested by this illness. I keep smiling, and it helps to see those further along who are recovering. I am tremendously grateful for that. I would agree we need to be able to share the hard stuff too. Humor helps enormously, dark and otherwise... -
ARCHIVED Could Use Some Encouragement
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Kikikobe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There sounds like enough of a list to consider testing. Someone will chime in with the list I expect. You need to keep eating gluten if you want tests, usually blood tests, then possibly an endoscopy. Even if all that come back negative, you could do a trial gluten free. A number of us here are self diagnosed, or diagnosed non celiac gluten intolerant... -

Celiac Mindwarp replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have described pre diagnosis and recovery as like the week that you have all your final papers or dissertation to to get in on time, so you stay up late, have too much caffeine and chocolate, maybe smell a bit, can hardly string a sentence together. Only it has been going on for weeks. (I hope I have the gist of the thing here ) -

Thanks JoH, I will try again when I am feeling brave, others have suggested berries too -
In January, in the UK, I was diagnosed with NCGI. I think it is the same thing at the moment, but as more research gets done, I expect the terms will be changed or pinned down more. Maybe

ARCHIVED Healing - Running Out Of Patience.
Celiac Mindwarp replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey Mo I have been gluten-free since September and am definitely struggling. I have more good days than bad now, but find the bad days hard too. I seem to be working out other food intolerances. I had a great month on whole foods, but doing reintroductions are tough. I think I just lost dairy for a while. I am hanging on to the good days, and trying... -

Thanks Ski I have several of those symptoms, eczema, menstrual stuff, rhinitis headaches, and known reactions to red wine, beer, alcohol, chocolate cheese and yogurt, paprika included. And the list of things not to eat more or less describes my current food intake. I am going to try taking the diet back to whole30 for a couple of weeks, then decide... -
ARCHIVED Very Nervous About Trying To Get Pregnant
Celiac Mindwarp replied to OleMissLass's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Fantastic news, congratulations. Pregnancy does all sorts of weird things to the body, most of which you don't know about before . For me, I tend to get D more usually. I got some of that while pregnant, but also had C while pregnant, just 2 to 3 times each pregnancy. If you have fasting blood sugar tested, check that the drink they plan to give... -
ARCHIVED I Need Help, Someone Give Me Answers... Please
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Kocoyboy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, it is going to take a while longer yet. Try to eat mostly simple foods to start with, like meat, fish, vegetables, maybe save gluten free processed foods like cookies for occasional treats. Do you and your family know about cross contamination? This is where gluten sneaks into your diet, for example if you share a toaster with normal bread, or...- 14 replies

ARCHIVED Are These The Right Blood Tests?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to ForTrent9's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I think we just need to keep asking questions and following our guts (ha ha). I am finding working out the other intolerances extremely difficult. I would say stick around, not sure being ignored is the way to go. I did have a test at 3 weeks, though it was negative. If you have already started eating gluten, maybe do the 2 weeks and get the test. Personally... -
ARCHIVED Are These The Right Blood Tests?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to ForTrent9's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My UK doctor said one week gluten challenge, but changed to 6 weeks when I showed her the coeliac UK advice. We seem to have different tests as standard, but I have yet to get anyone to tell me what they are. Mine came back negative, with no ranges. There is no need to feel stupid. Diagnosis is a difficult process, and often confusing. Once your... -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed 'probably Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity'
Celiac Mindwarp replied to DogWalkerNYC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed NCGI after a negative celiac gene test. I seem to be pretty sensitive to cross contamination. It is really hard to know at the moment how far to take gluten elimination. I guess I am 'lucky' that I react strongly, as that makes the decision easier. I am planning to stay on top of the research, and see where it goes. I was totally...
