ARCHIVED Assuming Possible Misdiagnosis
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Purplemummy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi I am in the UK too and just got my results, one test only and not even a range, just 'negative'. My doctor tested after a week on gluten, so not much chance of decent diagnosis. Stinks doesn't it? Sorry you have been through this to. Reading around here I have decided to be my own best advocate. Next battle, getting my kids tested... Good... -

Investigate, please!!! My son had bad colic and always had a bad reaction to formula. I did mixed feeding, breast and formula. He hated cows milk. He now eats yogurt and ice cream but no milk or cheese. He now has asthma eczema hayfever and severe nut allergy, all classic atopic stuff. When I was pregnant with my daughter, a colleague who specializes...

ARCHIVED Corn Problems And Medicines
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks so much. I will have to have a check with my local pharmacies. This disease aint cheap!! Good luck with the Tylenol. I am secretly hoping to be able to eat fresh corn again one day, as it seems to be mostly processed corn I struggle with. -

ARCHIVED Migraines
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jenarella's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi This sounds rough. My migraines last about 12 to 24 hours, and I have to lie in the dark. I take paracetamol and dihydrocoedine (UK, not sure what it is there). I alternate between a hot water bottle and an ice pack (which ever I can stand at that time). I used to use a hot wheat bag, ho ho. I sometimes use 4head, a rub on stick with levomenthol... -
Hi I think I may be corn intolerant as well as (currently suspected) celiac. Does anyone have any advice? Most of the meds I have checked seem to have either maize starch or maltitol. Help??

ARCHIVED Primal/paleo But No Nuts?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That's great, thanks I feel a bit like I'm living on cheese some days! Fingers crossed I dont turn out intolerant... I need to be a bit more prepared I think. Hippie is good, in my view. I have yet to convince my family about better eating. Though my husband did say he was jealous of my breakfast of rice avocado chicken and gluten-free soy sauce... -
Hi I am loving the look of primal/paleo, and I know when I did Atkins years ago it was great. However - my son has a severe nut allergy and we can't have them in the house. I tried Atkins again recently, but struggled without nuts for snacks. I can't have too much fruit, or any seseme either. Can anyone suggest easy to carry snacks? Many...

ARCHIVED Normal Blood Test, Awaiting Endoscopy
Celiac Mindwarp replied to lkirschner's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All sounds sensible to me. I had to go back for my results too, didn't occur to me to get them at the time. My doctor said she needs to ask a specialist about testing my kids. I know the advice here (UK)is to test all 1st degree relatives (parents siblings kids). That only works if I get a positive. I think my Mum may have it too, but can't persuade... -
ARCHIVED Normal Blood Test, Awaiting Endoscopy
Celiac Mindwarp replied to lkirschner's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am in a similar situation, and it is tough. My blood result was negative, though I have been wheat free years, so I wasn't surprised. Are you still eating gluten? Do stay on it if you can until the biopsy. I couldn't, so expect that to be negative too. However - with my massive reaction to gluten when I tried I have decided to go gluten free. I... -
ARCHIVED Mass Confusion After 4 Years
Celiac Mindwarp replied to laurajojetter's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think lots of people have found gluten-free in DCs list helpful. Even those with years of experience get caught out by the basics sometimes. I regularly have a 'doh' moment picking up info from the boards or realize maybe I have let something slip. Don't diss it too easily, make the most of the massive experience here and value the time people take to... -

ARCHIVED New Study On Maize And Celiacs
Celiac Mindwarp replied to T.H.'s topic in Super Sensitive People
I'm in the need to avoid corn group. It is a shame and a pain, but I would agree that you need to find out which are the things YOU can't eat. I would hate people to lose foods if unnecessary. I have found out through elimination diets. I have been in denial about corn for years, gave up last week and am starting to feel human. I still does my head... -
ARCHIVED B12 And Celiac Blood Test Help?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
1 week challenge before the B12 test - my doctor didn't ,,,know the minimum recommend here is 6 weeks. I had celiac test done at the same time but the lab lost it. So when I retested for celiac only, in total I did 3 weeks gluten challenge, 10 days gluten free, 5 days gluten challenge (so gluten on 26 out of 36 days). We were aiming for 6 weeks... -
ARCHIVED B12 And Celiac Blood Test Help?
Celiac Mindwarp posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Got loads of blood results, mostly ok I think but I am a bit unsure about, any help much appreciated. My celiac result says: Anti-transglutaminase level =Negative Celiac disease unlikely unless IgA deficient/on a gluten free diet. No other figures, values etc given. I have been wheat free 9 years and only lasted 3 weeks on gluten challenge. ... -

ARCHIVED Plantar Fasciitis
Celiac Mindwarp replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes yes yes!! I just read this in another post. I have had it 8 months and it is excruciating. My doctor told me it is especially common in those over 40 who spend lots of time on their feet and especially women. She gave me exercises that stretch the bit at the back of the heel and suggested rolling my heel over a golf ball. She did also tell me... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Bad Reactions To Quinoa?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tried quinoa twice, and I might just as well have tipped it straight down the toilet, given how quickly it went through me. Shame, I loved the taste and texture. Corn does sound the other possible culprit (or both, you gotta love celiac). I am just starting to admit I am going to have to eliminate it. Happy healing x -
Hi I can't answer questions about uni in Australia, but I can say you will have an excellent chance of successfully returning to studies if and when it is right for you. I used to be a university lecturer in a place that had about a third of the students 'mature'. I had the total pleasure of teaching many older students, many in their 20s and thirties...

ARCHIVED New To Gluten Free
Celiac Mindwarp replied to bjaded's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Not crazy!! If you can stand it for a bit longer it is worth carrying on with gluten to get blood work and a biopsy done. I had been off wheat for years when I realized I had stacks of celiac symptoms, so blood work came back negative, and to be honest I expect my biopsy to be negative too. I did do a gluten challenge, but only lasted 3 weeks, not...
