  1. Sorry, a bit obscure. A frog went into the library. The librarian pulls out a book. The frog say reddit. Librarian gets out another book. Frog says reddit. My brain managed to read that as brain toast! Brain frog and my dyslexia are apparently a recipe for bad jokes. Good news about the tomato paste though x
  2. Saw this post - reddit reddit
  3. I got silicone ones too - another good thing is that they come in great colors too (in the uk at least). I now have EVERYTHING in purple - utensils, toaster, spoon rests, colander... It was expensive, but no one doubts which is my gluten-free stuff now. I wonder if you could ask a few people for a cheeky early Christmas gift? Or maybe swap a utensil...
  4. Did you get a blood test for vitamin levels too? Worth an ask. Mine were all within range, but at the low end for B and D. Once you are through the endoscopy it might be worth looking at supplements. I am on a multivitamin and sublingual b12, and my energy is rising for the first time in months. I am looking to add more but have exhausted the gluten...
  5. We might not be the right bunch of people to ask about googling and addiction to learning about celiac! Good luck with testing and results
  6. I love a happy ending (or maybe beginning). Delighted for you.
  7. Maybe washing face as well as hands?
  8. Hi I've only been here a few weeks, it's amazing how quickly you start getting the hang of it! Sounds like you have a gem of a doctor there. I only managed 3 weeks on gluten, broke if for 10 days then 5 more days, so my blood was negative. Had endoscopy last week (anaesthetic throat spray) so awaiting results still. That time on gluten convinced...
  9. Great news (well, you know what I mean) I am so pleased you got such a good response from the doctor. That's worth a lot. Well, I guess we will be seeing you around here for a while then. I take it you were told to stay on gluten until after the endoscopy?
  10. Good luck! I managed 3 weeks gluten challenge, and it made me so ill I had to give up. I think, like you, I had my answer before my results - no more gluten for me, not for anything...
  11. Not a celiac answer, but watch your wallet on the Metro! Can you find a translation card to hand to waiters/chefs? It is a fantastic city, I hope you get some good advice
  12. Hi I went through this process in England recently. I would make sure you take a written list of the tests you are hoping for. I didn't know much when I went, and ended up with the most basic celiac test, just 'negative' and no numbers or scale. I am gutted now as I have no chance of repeating the gluten challenge. She did send me to a GI and for an...
  13. I find avocado or sweet potato keep me full well
  14. I'd recommend William Bloom on the Endorphin Effect if you are in the UK. Book, disc and workshop. I think doing the relaxation and getting the happy hormones going made a big difference. I held onto a pregnancy after losing several after his course. Dont be put off if his website looks a bit out there, his stuff has been scientifically tested, and...
  15. Roast lamb, pots and parsnips, broccoli, green beans and carrots. Mmmm
  16. Sorry to hear your story. I know how hard it is. Just in brief - I had 2 early miscarriages before my 1st child and 6 before my second. I have only just discovered I am celiac, and it explains so much. My experience was that when I was eating well and doing what I could to reduce stress my body finally held the pregnancies. I am really thinking...
  17. My daughter, 3, joined in the conversation with us and my 5 year old. He asked what the worst thing in the world is. We were just getting into a discussion about being sick, when little one pipes up 'Having hiccups in the middle of when you are trying to sing'. Yeah, I hate it when that happens ;-)
  18. I'd agree it may be hard to back on again. I had a short break gluten-free and then ate it again after the lab lost my results (grr). It was much worse much more quickly when I ate gluten the second time.
  19. In the uk it seems you can usually choose anaesthetic throat spray or seditive. I can report 2 experiences of throat spray. My friend hated it, as you are awake to gag, and would go for sedative next time. I hate drugs like those, and while I would not do it for fun, it was ok. The staff were great, and told me when I needed to relax, and to remember...
  20. I ended up giving up ALL alcohol in the end, but vodka was the worst for me. I once came out in hives head to toe within 3 minutes of drinking melon vodka. Wish I had worked it out then instead of 15 years later. I am now looking forward to being psychotically vigilent.
  21. It's really tough, isn't it? My bloods were negative, and I am sure the biopsy I had this week will be the same. I have decided I have to go gluten-free, for life, but it was a tough decision. I'm sorry you are having a difficult time with family etc. Mine are at least sympathetic, even if they dont really get it. Hopefully you have at least found...
  22. Have you picked up from reading the boards that damage from gluten can be 'silent' which could mean that you MAY be having a reaction to all gluten but not know about it? And that lots of people here do not have definitive diagnosis but choose gluten free rather than eat things which CLEARLY make them sick? Sadly, for many people there is no black and...
  23. Oh yes, getting older. Since I turned 40, it seems every time I go to the doctor I have something which is very common in women over 40. Grrr
  24. 2 reasons the loaves are small - Historically bread in the uk had to be in standard 400 or 800 g loaves, and it only changed a couple of years ago and most manufacturers haven't changed. Second, its damn hard to make a large loaf which doesn't collapse or end up full of holes! We have Mr Mindwarp to thank for these gems of wisdom.
