  1. I guess each of us has to make our own decision on risk. Personally, with the information you have I'd take that I wouldn't want to cheat, but wouldn't want to beat myself up if I occasionally got cc. I have a research background, and am big on evidence. I'd love to take medical advice, but like many here have not had good advice, and would probably...
  2. Bloods were just one test, and no scale, just negative. Sadly, I hadn't found the forum then and didn't know what to ask for. I didn't manage to do the whole gluten challenge, made me to ill. I dont expect the biopsy to help really, so I am having to self diagnose based on history and response to gluten free diet. 2 weeks to wait for results here. It...
  3. My mum was diagnosed with M.E (chronic fatigue) in her 40s, when no one knew what it was and she got sent to a shrink. It was tough as a teenager to see it. I knew she was ill. Now I know about celiac, I think it may be that. She doesn't want to get tested or see a doctor and bring it all up again. I think she is afraid after her experiences with doctors...
  4. I liked Zita West on fertility. She is based in London, so not sure how widely her books are available. She is an expert in combining complimentary and conventional medicine, including nutrition and supplements. I think she advises some of the top fertility clinics here.
  5. Yes, you can have negative blood results and positive biopsy. The advice is to carry on eating gluten until the endoscopy is done. Doesn't sound like depression was the cause of that lot. Sorry to hear things have been so tough. I had recurrent miscarriage, but am now blessed with 2 kids. I wouldn't wish that loss on anyone. I am waiting for...
  6. I had recurrent miscarriage and didn't know I had celiac. I have 2 kids now. The best tip I had was 'afterwards' for the woman to stay in bed lying back with a couple of pillows to tip hips towards tummy. The man has to go and fix coffee, tea, snacks etc. Other things were decent diet and relaxation /meditation. Once pregnant I avoided cold drinks...
  7. I'm loving avocado or sweet potato as the basis of meals at the moment. Today was avocado, king prawns, tomato, cucumber and yellow bell pepper. No cooking either! I have only been gluten-free about 4 weeks and I am starting to love it. Cooking for the family is another story, but I love my new food. Good luck
  8. Wooh, mie disleckseear es en phreespyn on thys bored
  9. I dont drink I thunk enough to comment here yet...
  10. Hi I quite liked the Genius brown. Warburtons have started doing one recently too which is reasonable. I cant handle much processed gluten-free stuff personally. I would recommend Doves Farm products if you have not tried. They do a great flour range (make sure you dont get their wheat one accidently). We make great cakes with their self raising gluten...
  11. Sounds good to me! I am very excited, we dont do it often as it is so expensive, but sometimes you just gotta Mw x
  12. 1st time here! Making me hungry reading.... Sunday dinner is Very fresh sea bass filets (moved to the coast this year and if you get there at the right time can see what the fishermen have brought in) Baked with butter and fresh parsley. Little potatoes, green beans and carrots. Mmmm Mw .
  13. I am still doing anger and denial (though still gluten-free!!!) fairly regularly. Seeing folks here who have got through it gives me hope though. Good luck.
  14. While I agree it could be a stress type thing, I wouldn't rule out physical too. I know when I eat too much carbs, for me especially bread and sugar, I get a horrible full but hungry feeling. I think I am better now I eat more whole foods, but I did realize I had gotten into the habit of eating after a meal. It has taken a while, but now if I...
  15. Remember, get tested BEFORE you give up gluten if at all possible.
  16. Thanks T.H. I had been wondering about something like this, nice site. On with the great celiac journey...
  17. Thanks I am looking forward to having the appointment over with nom. Great you have a celiac specialist. If you hang around the forums here you'll have loads of information and questions by the time you get there in a month. Good luck, be great to hear how you get on Mw
  18. I wont tell a soul, promise
  19. I am falling about laughing about the nachos giving everyone reflux!!! And all the other stuff on top too... Mr Mindwarp and I often say we can be pretty dumb for such smart people. Think I might have had one of those moments. Fingers crossed I'll track it down. They were SO good...
  20. Hi again It is all a bit of a minefield isn't it?? I think I have probably been celiac over 20 years undiagnosed. I have a biopsy next week so might find out more then. I doubt it though. I think I sort of suspected it was something more than a wheat intolerance for a few years but my doctor didn't even believe in wheat intolerance, and I think I...
  21. Thank you all SOOOO much for advice and hugs. My endoscopy is Tuesday, so maybe I can get some help there. I called the hospital yesterday, the nurse was really nice and said the GI I am scheduled to see is very good and kind. I think I may at least swing a nutritionist referal. I am gluten-free now, but only 3 weeks, so early days. My gluten challenge...
  22. Listen, I did it for years before I knew what celiac was. I had no energy and it helped, for an hour or two. Now I know that 1 I wasn't getting nutrients because my guts were such a mess and couldn't absorb the good stuff 2 there is some pretty darn addictive stuff in there. You will need some medical help. The good news is that the addictive...
  23. Hi and welcome (I am new here too). I can relate to a lot of what you say. I went wheat free 9 years ago, via Atkins. I am never going to get a positive diagnosis after lasting only 3 weeks on a gluten challenge. That was 2 months ago and I am starting to get over it. I would say have a go at gluten if you can for testing, if having a diagnosis would...
  24. Hi I have been hanging in there, doing loads of research, trying to piece together how this whole damn thing works. My blood test was negative, but was only a basic test, and I have been wheat free 9 years so no great surprise. My biopsy is next week, but I dont hold out much hope for diagnosis, as I only lasted 3 weeks on a gluten challenge before...
  25. I am loving rice, avocado and bacon for breakfast at the moment. Or steak and eggs, yum. I have pre cut carrots in the fridge, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I'd have nuts if my son wasn't allergic! gluten-free chips, string or mini cheese, dried dates, apricots. I am keeping the direct gluten-free substitutes to a minimum, as I find them to sweet...
