  1. If you got an epipen see if you can get a trainer pen to practice too. We got one for my son and we all know exactly what to do, and have family and friends trained too

  7. Crossing my fingers for all of you in the path x
  8. Sounds like a family trip for blood tests might be in order. Once you all start enjoying more gluten-free food you will find it harder to go back on gluten for testing. Good work Mum, keep it up
  9. Clocks go back in the UK this weekend. So while some people look forward to an extra hour in bed Sunday morning, I get 2 kids who will be up at @5am instead of 6am for at least a couple of weeks Aside from that I love this time of year. 10 degrees and sunny here
  10. My husband and 2 small kids still eat gluten. I have my prep spaces, but still end up cleaning 'their' bit of the kitchen and the dining table. I have different cloths for each area, and a big box of disposable gloves and a lot of paper towels. I'm not saying I like it, but I am ok so far.
  11. Tom I've always said I was a Zeitgeist sort of a girl. I think I will add the article to the pile for my doctor. She will need to reinforce her desk before I visit again. Someone cares about us celiacs (or at least can make some money from us which I can settle for if it helps). I fear we may share a sense of humor...
  12. In the UK we tend to share a GP rather than have a separate paediatrician, so my doctor is my kids doctor! . I have no problem with creative interpretation of my diagnosis! She has referred me to a GI knowing I want my kids tested. I think she just wants someone to tell her it is ok to test TBH I will find a way to do it. I might be back...
  13. Hi again Bill I'd agree. I am starting the fight to get my 2 tested. Mw
  14. Diana Thanks, getting better so far Mw
  15. Hey SMDBill Thanks for your reply, and I saw in another post your symptom improvements. Wow it is great you are getting such a good reaction. I would tell anyone to get a diagnosis if they can. However if for whatever reason it is not possible it worth giving gluten-free a go. Looks like it has convinced you as it has me. I have kept the list...
  16. Welcome Hair loss can be related to celiac I think, but can also happen in the months after having a baby. It is good you got a clear diagnosis, hang in there. It can be a bit of a rollercoaster while you get the hang of it, but there is great advice and support here
  17. How's it going everyone? Any sore heads? Sorry I missed the party, wrong time zone! Anyway, just wanted to add a big hand for the old hands
  18. Great to hear it went ok. Good luck now with the diet
  19. I love dresses! Especially maxi ones. I do wear other stuff though. Well, except when I did my gluten challenge in the summer. Dresses only then. My mum and grandma wear dresses because of the waist comfort thing. Wish I could persuade them to get tested, grrr. I do only wear long tunic tops though, for puffy tum...
  20. I reckon it is only a small step to cornering the market in gluten-free hamster bars
  21. Welcome to the forum Sorry you have to be here, and sorry to hear what you have been through. At least you found this board, these guys are awesome. It will be overwhelming at first, but it does get easier. I am 7 weeks gluten-free, and had a few meltdowns on the way. I burst into tears in a health food store when I couldn't find anything to eat...
  22. Thanks very much for your support. I am hoping too that medical science catches up with us. A test that doesn't involve a barbaric gluten challenge would be good. I'd also like to see routine screening become the norm. 1 in 133 should be telling us something. It seems a shame that those of us who were a bit tuned in to our bodies and go wheat or gluten...
  23. How frustrating. It seems once again the patient has to do all the hard work. I am so sorry you didn't get more help. Sending hugs Mw
  24. I am self diagnosing celiac disease. I failed to last more than 3 weeks on a gluten challenge, and the lab lost my results. My second test was done on 5 days of gluten (i.e. useless)By the time I had my endoscopy 3 weeks ago I had been gluten light about 7 weeks and gluten free for 3. That is on top of being mostly wheat free for 9 years. So - I am...
  25. I had this and mine was hemorrhoids. It was well worth getting checked out though. At least you will know
