  1. Everyone has hiccups when starting out, dont beat yourself up. My husband accidently fed me 3 wholemeal bread rolls when I was 3 weeks gluten-free. I am 7 weeks now and getting the hang of it more. Worth sticking with it and it is unlikely he is back at day 1. If nothing else, you are learning about the diet. I always stash snacks in my bag for...
  2. Ah ha! Maybe the gator swallowed a giant magnet?
  3. Fingers crossed for you for this week x
  4. How am I supposed to respond to that??
  5. That's tough. I spent 5 months of pregnancy housebound except medical appts and I definitely went a bit bats. It does sound like you have pushed hard to get to the right people to help. Make sure you let us know how it all goes.
  6. Hang in there. And hang out here. We know it is all real stuff, and many of us have been there. Not sleeping makes everything harder. Is it your sleep study this week? Sorry your family is not supportive. Maybe get out and get some fresh air today? I always find it helps.
  7. Glad you got the detached retina speech. Worth knowing, especially with short sight. I missed mine until I got the full shadow/curtain across my vision. Thought the floaters and flashes were part of my migraines. Good luck sorting stuff out
  8. Did you know that floaters and flashes can also be signs of holes in the retina or retinal detachment?
  9. Mead - needs to be drunk sitting by a roaring fire, like an after dinner liqueur. Well, maybe anyway:)
  10. Great, thanks.
  11. StephanieL Please could you list or link to the 5 diagnostic criteria? My doctors only recognize blood test and biopsy and I need all the help I can get to convince them! Mindy Sue Good luck with a diagnosis for your daughter
  12. Hi Bartfull Sorry things are rough. Just wanted to say since I sent my Cat gluten-free she has a new lease of life. At 8 she was starting to look old and just sit around. Now she has gone all kittenish again. Maybe that's how we'll all feel too me day
  13. Mine are 3 and 5! It is taking a while to all get used to it - like that mum isn't going to stop halfway through breakfast to cut up toast or pick that pasta off the floor. I have a slightly confusing system of cleaning cloths e.g. for wiping the table. Then there's those sticky hugs heading towards you... I just realized their snacks are getting...
  14. Not sure if you are including the UK but might be worth contacting Coeliac UK if you do. They have some restaurant listings and an amazing book on what you can get in regular stores. Most large supermarkets have a gluten-free range and some decent bread and goodies (though not always the small town center ones)
  15. I am sure if you talk it through you could find a way. Can you call in advance? As I said, I was totally conscious, no sedation and it was ok (just endoscopy). It felt odd, but the nurse talked me through. I gagged just a little (don't think that happens under sedation) but I could still breathe fine. Good luck x
  16. Good news on your kidneys Hope you start to get some answers from all of this x
  17. I had mine conscious with anesthetic throat spray (UK option) and even that was ok! A bit wierd and uncomfortable but fine. I was very tired after and had a mildly sore throat, which was fine by next morning. I was terrified before, but it was fine. Promise yourself a nice treat for when it is all done
  18. Mr Mindwarp and I are both dyslexic, and anytime we are asked 'how do you spell......' ,we always say 'well, I spell it like this, but that doesn't mean anyone else does'...
  19. I have just realized my symptoms started after 6 months living in Italy. I hope you find out what is giving you these problems. It might be worth checking out other things you eat or drink around lunchtime. I am thinking of something like coffee. I know I drank a lot of (really excellent) coffee, and I was a bit wired and loopy sometimes. Read around...
  20. My favorite aide memoir for spelling is for silent P. Silent P, like in swimming pool. Seemed particularly appropriate for the psillies
  21. Your symptoms sound really similar to mine. I am overweight too. I too have been better on Atkins but fallen off. I was really disappointed when my blood test was negative. I am waiting for biopsy results now. I think it will probably be negative as I couldn't handle a gluten challenge GottaSki has great advice there. Just wanted to say I have been...
  22. Italy is SO beautiful. Maybe you can at least get some nice shoes to cheer you up? Hope you energy improves and you get that next bit of puzzle
