  1. thanks gfinnebraska - I trust your recommendation and will try the maple ones soon! - Lauren
  2. Thanks for sharing, this is something I have a vested interest in, as I'm a Catholic as well. That said, I think it's ridiculous. I will not put my health at risk with a "low-gluten" host, and I will not even take wine at mass because there is a risk of contamination. I feel that the church is being really stubborn and closed-minded about this. celiac...
  3. Vincent - that must have been so relieving! That is beyond cool! As awareness increases and more people are diagnosed w/celiac disease, I think this will happen more and more. - Lauren
  4. Oooh I FINALLY tried one and it was Yummy! Should have seen the look I got when I ordered one for breakfast this morning... "I know it's 8:00 in the morning, but could I get an egg nog milkshake... and a coffee, too?" Ahh, well, I was feeling sorry for myself about the many holiday goodies I can't eat, so I deserved a splurge! If you can do...
  5. I like the kinnikinnick too, but I don't think they're as light as regular donuts. I find them pretty dense, but that makes them filling! I've only had the vanilla and choco dipped ones, but I think they make a maple one. Has anyone tried that? I love maple flavored stuff. I assume that if you really wanted to make your own donuts, you could use a regular...
  6. cmom, it really IS like hitting the lottery! p.s. I love your kitten icon! - Lauren
  7. Sorry Rachel, I'm a real downer! That's it, my new mission in life is to create a gluten-free jelly donut! (or maybe I can convince kinnikinnick to make one at least) - Lauren
  8. Rachel & Stefi - I had forgotten about those butter cookies, those were so good! I used to love those coconut snowballs too (the ones with the fluorescent pink coconut, chocolate cake and cream center, waaah I want one!) jerseyangel - I'm only about 15-20 min from Cherry Hill! pokerprincess - YES I have those dreams! I wake up in a cold sweat.....
  9. Do you ever miss the stupid things that have gluten in them?? I saw a commercial for those Little Debbie Christmas Tree snack cakes (the ones that are covered in that fake, waxy white chocolate) and I wanted one SOOO badly. They're not even that good! This was seriously the closest I've ever been to cheating on the gluten-free diet - I almost ran directly...
  10. Hehe, you guys are funny, thanks for sharing - Lauren
  11. Today I was shopping in (of all places) TJ Maxx's home section when something caught my eye: Jelly Belly candy corn - which I had heard was the only gluten-free candy corn, but I had never been able to find it. You would have thought I won the lottery. I was snatching it up like no tomorrow, nevermind the fact that it was probably leftover from Halloween...
  12. Wow, Jillian, that sounds amazing! Unfortunately, yesterday was only my second time at Risoterria, and they haven't had that cake yet. Yesterday they had the cookies, brownies, and some pie. I'm not a big pie person, so I went with the fudgie. It was an excellent choice - Lauren
  13. Jillian, For the record, when we all get together at Risoterria in January, the goal is for us each to finish our OWN fudgie - deal? I know I can do it! Anyone else up to the challenge? - Lauren
  14. A panini and a fudgie from Risoterria AND my (early) b-day cake came from Mr Ritts bakery today - I am in gluten-free, sugar-filled HEAVEN! - Lauren
  15. Like mamaw I have the Zoj and love it also. I use the Manna from Anna mix on the regular setting and it comes out perfect. I highly recommend it. - Lauren
  16. aljf!!! I had a fudgie at Risotteria today! You're right - AWESOME!!! - Lauren
  17. Way cool, Stefi - You're a celebrity! I'm on Happy Happy Happy's mailing list somehow, but haven't tried them out yet. - Lauren
  18. I thought I heard it too! I was multi-tasking (working on a paper) so I wasn't sure about it. Thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy! - Lauren
  19. Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry are gluten-free too. Enjoy! - Lauren
  20. And it's Gluten-Free! Thought I'd pass along this info to everyone. I knew McD's regular flavor milkshakes were OK (says so on their website), but I just received verification that their feature seasonal flavor, eggnog, is also gluten-free. Sounds yummy, I can't wait to try one! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! - Lauren
  21. Hey guys - thanks for keeping me in the loop! I'll have to wait and see about Dec 9 but I don't think I'll be able to make it - I work for a publication too and that's my department's busiest time of the month. I'm taking off a couple of days the week before when my friend from North Carolina comes into town, so I'm anticipating spending the next week...
  22. Hey guys, I'm going to be in NYC on Dec 2, but will be entertaining an friend from out-of-town. Jan. 6 sounds good to me - I'll put it on my calendar! Let me know if you decide to something sooner, I'll try to make it. Yay - Lauren
  23. mamaw, Actually, I'm near Philly for school, and "home" is Gettysburg (s.central) PA. Where is the Grainless Baker? Do they have a website? By the way, you won't regret ordering the cinnamon rolls! Now you've got me craving them. - Lauren
  24. I have! Everybody Eats came to my local support group meeting (in PA) this past spring and their samples were sooo good that I got a little carried away ordering from them... It got pretty pricey so I haven't ordered again, but if you're in the mood to splurge I recommend the cinnamon rolls. I also got pizza, spinach & cheese ravioli, and eggplant...
  25. Let me know when you guys plan something, and I'll try my best to be there - Lauren
