Welcome to the board and please give your supportive husband my best. I am so glad you are now taking your diet seriously. No cheating. No "once a month" treats. Never. Ever. I highly recommend going to Amazon and ordering "Gluten-Free Grocery Shopping Guide 2012/2013" or its newest version. It is the most comprehensive guide listed by product, brand...

ARCHIVED Lymphocytes But Negative Blood?
eers03 replied to Reneemargret's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi! Welcome to the forum. I have had an EGD and the biopsy from it revealed an increased lymphocyte count and total villous atrophy. It sounds like he is checking a couple different tests that can be markers for celiac disease, maybe? -
ARCHIVED For Celiacs With Joint Pain
eers03 replied to spirit-walk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I get pain in some joints and I get pain in non-joint areas. I have no swelling. I recently had a chest x-ray incidental to a cold virus I had and they looked clear. My blood work is clean. Calcium, BUN, Albumin are all fine. I have no RA factor. I don't think its a fibromyalgia. Its just weird. Its not normal for me but my tests say I'm normal. ... -

Your antibiotic could absolutely be the source of your diarrhea. If it persists you should go see your healthcare provider again. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed, Now Being Told It Is Not Celiac. Help Me Understand!
eers03 replied to Kjblock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, just ask for the blood panel. If you are IGA deficient or IGA absent he/she will need to run an IgG TTG instead of the IGA one. I think. -
ARCHIVED Kicking Myself
eers03 replied to Eheadings's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The gluten challenge... 12 weeks... Pretty sure mine was 12 years :-) Having an official diagnosis is totally worth it if indeed you have celiac disease. Good luck with things.- 2 replies

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed, Now Being Told It Is Not Celiac. Help Me Understand!
eers03 replied to Kjblock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Congrats on getting your diagnosis! Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing it on you but having an official diagnosis for something you're dealing with is very helpful. I am really happy for you that they didn't leave you hanging in doubt. -
I wouldn't get discouraged yet. Five days--thats early. I would give yourself a month or so to see if you have improvement. Try lotioning BEFORE you get in the shower--your entire body. Instead of a hot shower, take a warm one and keep it short. Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing it. Use shaving oil before applying your foam. Use foam instead of...

ARCHIVED Too Many Restrictions - Need Advice
eers03 replied to tpain's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you are not experiencing flattening of the villi, I don't think there is a reason to stay away from dairy. -
ARCHIVED Burning Skin
eers03 replied to canchzr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know, right? Who knew? Your follow up on this topic is appreciated. I've recently had some spots come up that really are not noticeable at all unless I get in the shower. Then, they become red-splotchy. If I put NIVEA all over me before hopping in the shower it helps drastically. Otherwise, I come out looking pretty splotchy. It's very new to me... -

ARCHIVED Unconfirmed Diagnosis - And Lots Of Anger
eers03 replied to GF in BC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am so unbelievably happy for you that you are finding some physical relief. Bless your heart. I agree with nvsmom, you may consider having your son tested as well. I am so glad he is on the front end of his fight with liver cancer. That had to be absolutely maddening. Welcome to the forum. You are in good company here. I like to think this is a fine... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed, Now Being Told It Is Not Celiac. Help Me Understand!
eers03 replied to Kjblock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you were fine in 2010 but your blood tests recently came back positive maybe you caught the onset early enough that you don't have all the villous atrophy that others do. That is a good thing. If your mom has it and your blood test is positive, I think it is safe to say you have celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED Strange Occurrences With Bowel Movements After Going gluten-free?
eers03 replied to JennaQ's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi! Welcome to the forum. Have you been tested for Celiac Disease or do you just feel like you do better when you stay away from it? You said you aren't having a flatulence issue--that's a good thing. Early in my celiac disease diagnosis and gluten-free diet my movements were much like you described. Over the course of months I started getting into the... -
ARCHIVED Does Reducing Gluten But Not Eliminating Provide Benefits?
eers03 replied to phil76's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are Celiac, its all or nothing. If you suspect a connection, get a Celiac blood panel from your doctor and go from there before you stop or reduce your gluten intake. If you stop eating it, feel a difference, then go in for the test it can yield a false negative. -
Been there. It was very temporary though and haven't had them since going gluten-free.

ARCHIVED Burning Skin
eers03 replied to canchzr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get a Celiac Panel immediately. I had burning on my face, back, chest, top of arms, and my thighs. It was early in my diagnosis. It was scary. I was anxious as one could possibly be. In the interim, don't take baths. Only take showers when you need to and make sure the water is luke warm at most. Make them quick. When you are drying off, pat your... -

ARCHIVED Aricept For Celiac-Induced Neuro Symptoms?
eers03 replied to Integrous's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For what its worth, using Aricept for anything other than Alzheimer's Disease Dementia is an off-label use of this drug. -
My mom was able to figure out that I am IGA absent. She knew I could get or keep an infection longer than the average kid. Beyond that, I really didn't have a lot of symptoms other than just constantly staying thin. My mom has spent a lot of time beating herself up for not figuring things out sooner but honestly, if for years up until the last two...

ARCHIVED Lattes And Cappuccino
eers03 replied to answerseeker's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The chills sounds more like you are fighting an impending infection. I have on a few occasions ordered a pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks without event. However, its a CC gamble so as a general rule, I don't really order frothy drinks "out". I do have a Keurig Vue that I will use to make cappuccino/latte. As mentioned before, you could be reacting... -
ARCHIVED Muscles Losing All Tone.
eers03 replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
For some reason my shoulders seem to have collapsed around the time of my diagnosis. I was trying to workout, was malnourished, not getting enough calories, consuming TOO MUCH protein and TOO LITTLE carbs. It was a catastrophe. It's a wonder I didn't just fall over dead in the middle of a brief workout. Something is different for sure but I have just... -
I hope you cook up the BEST food ever with your "stuff". Have yourself a great time and when his nose starts snooping around your cooking tell him to eat "stuff".
