  1. Welcome to the board! I hope you like this place as much as I do. The folks on here are a great resource for me. First of all, you're on the right track, so congratulations. I would want to know the ingredients in the dressing. Also, some people react to dairy early on in the healing process. I don't know what you had to drink but if it was a cocktail...
  2. I was having an ache in what I thought was my thigh, deep. While sitting in my car I realized that its actually in my hip joint and is most likely referring into my thigh. Two nights ago I had pain in my left big toe--like a pin prick in the end of it. On the same drive yesterday, while clutching with my left foot for a long drive home I realized the pain...
  3. Irish--what are you throwing into those protein shakes?
  4. It's okay to feel overwhelmed. I think most of us do upon diagnosis. I know I did. Sometimes I still do. This forum is one of the greatest resources for questions you could possibly find so congrats on being here!
  5. Yes, you need to keep eating gluten or your test can return a false negative result.
  6. I am absent IGA so they relied on certain IGG markers that have a high level of specificity to gluten intolerance. So, make sure you are not Absent IGA. If you are, you will need a different celiac blood panel. If your IGA is normal, your current blood panel should satisfy your purposes. If gluten free does well for you--testing aside--go for it!
  7. I would want a liver panel, and a celiac panel. Go from there. Keep eating normal food (including gluten) or it can skew your results (giving you a false negative.)
  8. You should continue eating gluten until you do your endoscopy. Colonoscopy is not going to reveal anything pertaining to Celiac diagnosis. I had both performed in the same visit. The colonoscopy was checking for polyps, the endoscopy was checking for markers of celiac disease.
  9. Hey! So sorry you're feeling down. It's not an easy road and it can totally get one down. It sure did me. I blame some of that on malnutrition--being underweight and all the anxiety and weird aches, pains, and thought processes that come with it. The other part of the puzzle was me! Even now, I still have moments where I will see an article, or hear...
  10. You are always good for a laugh when I need it most! Thanks for this.
  11. In unrelated news... I was sitting in church the other day and there was a reference to wheat or bread in the bible... I leaned over and told my girlfriend, "My Jesus doesn't eat wheat." HAHA! Okay, so maybe I thought the comment was funnier than it really is but she looked at me, laughed, and started shaking her head. Your talking about interactions...
  12. Good call... I'm curious... Do you consume alcohol at all? I'm wondering how much that can slow my recovery... 3 once or twice a week? I've dialed it back to about once a week but I'm wondering if I should dial that back as well. Yeah, just trying to figure this out. Last night I tossed a lot. My sleep was fine but if I tried laying on my side, my...
  13. I might have to go out and buy an Ohio State hat today just because of this... That's really awesome...
  14. Try suggesting a restaurant that you are comfortable with as much as possible. If the gathering is already arranged, try eating before, after, or bring something of your own. I whip stuff out at the table all the time. It was awkward the first time but it really isn't a big deal. After 5 minutes the novelty wears off and you are just eating like everyone...
  15. I'm so proud of you! That's really encouraging to hear. I really enjoy running but I put in two miles the other day and my feet have been paying for it. My feet have flattened some since my diagnosis. I'm trying out some Dr. Scholls in my Nikes. It seems funny for me to say that as a 32 year old man but, whatever... I need some support down there!
  16. Hey, I'm curious... I'm just barely in to osteopenia territory. I'm a male, 33, was really skinny (140's) and a runner. 3-6 miles, 3-4 times per week. I'm taking calcium w D twice daily. I feel like my tendons/ligaments/cartilage are suffering some too. I don't know if the soreness is the bone itself, or tendons/ligaments or the their connection/lack...
  17. Funny that you mention this. I actually picked up a brochure for ordering one.
  18. She was being very selfish. Your hubs is right to be upset. I am inviting YOU to be a little offended :-) There are certain situations (this is not one) where I want to join a group enough that I will go somewhere that I have no intention of eating if I am able to eat beforehand. It's rare though.
  19. You're right. Thats quite peculiar. Maybe the first time around, your violent reaction was something more than gluten. Gluten and something undercooked? Don't know... Are you usually asymptomatic?
  20. Hey, you described what I went through pretty precisely. I've always been active and energetic, high metabolism, 140's through high school, 150ish through college, then my weight plummeted. Bone pain, anxiety, burning sensation around shoulders/legs/face, tingling in fingers, quick to get frustrated. All of which, are quite contrary to my usual demeanor...
  21. You're not alone. I'm stressed from work for all of the WRONG reasons. I think I practically screeched to a stop in my car pulling into a hotel parking lot to go inside for relief. If someone were to be standing in that parking spot having a smoke, they would have became my new hood ornament. :-) I'm trying to sort it out. I don't know if its stress...
  22. I have taken my gluten-free diet quite seriously but need to be as aggressive with my bone density. I'm taking a combo OTC supplement that contains both Vitamin D and Calcium. Hope it does its job! How much calcium should I be consuming per day?
  23. I'm glad you're on the up! I will do my best not to inflate any egos on here :-)
  24. And THAT is an analogy that I can grasp! Thanks for the follow-up. You're funny! I see what you're saying...
