ARCHIVED Need To Vent About My Own Stupidity!
eers03 replied to jamiecasabellameeks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
WOW! Last week I did the exact same thing with the exact same food! I was working in a part of my territory that offers little of nothing to eat for our diet. I was in a gas station and grabbed a bag of "Old Wisconsin" beef sticks. I'd looked this brand up before and everything checked out. I grabbed a different flavor this time. Took my first bite... -

ARCHIVED Read This If You Could Use A Chuckle :)
eers03 replied to NotMollyRingwald's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This morning I straight shot myself in the face, eyes wide open with Aqua d'Gio cologne. Brutal. I also went all "Rick Perry" on a coworker... I was making three points about the question at hand... After the second point there was a long pause and then I said... "Well, I forgot the third one... Oops..." -
Who does fit in? What I'm learning is that everyone is weird and has quirks in their own way but some hide them better than others. I must be the ONLY person in the world thats normal. (note the sarcasm) If you are in the dating phase of your life I would play the "I'm on a gluten free diet and I don't eat meat" card. It sounds like you really care...

ARCHIVED 1 Wk. Gluten-Free: Lack Of Appetite Normal?
eers03 replied to heathenly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes when I know I need to down something but really don't have an appetite, I will throw a vanilla yogurt, a banana, some frozen pineapple, and frozen strawberries in the blender with a little milk for a smoothie. The probiotic is helpful with staying regular, the calcium from the milk is helpful, and the fruit just tastes amazing. It took me... -
Alessandra, Before I offer some thoughts, remember that it comes from someone that knows nothing about you, your lifestyle, your body, etc. Just a few thoughts... The dry skin/itchiness... I had CRAZY dry skin. I'm a guy so I don't really pride myself on lotioning up after every single shower but guess what... Lotion it is. Keep that low though...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Get The Bone Aches?!
eers03 replied to eers03's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Quincy--good looking out. I think I will mention the idea of a 24 hour urine during my next visit. I recently did a urine test in office that came back fine from an infection/protein perspective but I'm assuming it would not pick up what you are talking about. If I were dumping calcium, how does one correct it? -
ARCHIVED Neck And Shoulder Pain About 50% Better!
eers03 replied to possiblyglutensensitive's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey all, I appreciate so very much reading this thread. I'm having some aching going on today and its reassuring to know I'm not the only one. Goodness knows I've had it worse before. In the last month I have experienced back pain, rib pain, collarbone pain, and some stiff wrists. I've shaken most of it while eating gluten-free. I mostly have pain in... -

ARCHIVED Need Help With Tests Results Please
eers03 replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been absent IGA all of my life. The physicians used my anti-gliadin IGG as the metric to diagnose with. My IGG was elevated so we did a biopsy of my small intestine that confirmed my diagnosis. It is highly possible that you have celiac disease. -

Thanks for the feedback! My Vitamin D range is 25-80 and mine is 33. Great perspectives on the connective tissue inflammation as well. I am seeing my PCP this week and will run it by him but am confident he won't be too concerned. It's nothing that really prohibits my daily activity right now but want to make sure I stay on top of things to keep it from... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Get The Bone Aches?!
eers03 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey all. I'm an active 32 year old male who was diagnosed last November. I'm experiencing some bone pain around my ribs and collarbone. It comes and goes. Sometimes I notice it more than others. My bone density is slightly below average and my IGG was 81 two months ago. I'm not taking any meds. Does anyone have insights? Is this common? My CBC was... -

ARCHIVED I Need Help, Someone Give Me Answers... Please
eers03 replied to Kocoyboy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
K, Let's break this list down... 1.) You now have a diagnosis, so you aren't crazy, what you were feeling was real. You were right all along and it took the docs awhile to catch up. You are VERY young and it should give you a HUGE leg up on recovery. 2.) Your throat... You'll think this is crazy but it could very well be your nerves and anxiety...- 14 replies

ARCHIVED In Pain... Again
eers03 replied to Em314's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey, Em... I have the same issue with popcorn. Instead of eating an entire bag, I eat about half. I also pay attention to not eat it late in the evening. It just doesn't digest easily for me. That's with no gluten involved. I did have some popcorn that contained gluten inadvertantly and I knew it right away because I became quite noisy on my sofa! ... -
ARCHIVED Why Has My Gliadin Igg Raised After 7 Months Gluten-Free?
eers03 replied to seattlejoy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been on the diet since November of last year. My gliadin IGG has gone up a little since my gluten-free diet. I'm not real worried because 1.) I have caught a couple weak spots where I was being glutened some unintentionally and 2.) it seems like I have read about others who have had the numbers continue to go up or stay the same for the first year... -
I visited Dr. Murray at Mayo. He is incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and personable. I too was concerned about who to trust with what I'm experiencing. I plan to go back for follow-up, it was worth it for me. He even answered some questions that I didn't know I had! He's great. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I don't know much about the community that you live in but you may be surprised at the response you would get by having and advertising a gluten free bakery on twitter and facebook in your area. I know some people that even keep odd hours and run their bakery on the side part-time completing orders and then work another job concomitantly. I should think...

ARCHIVED Feeling Cross About "cross Sensitivity"
eers03 replied to Raywuwei's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ray, when I saw my Celiac specialist at Mayo he told me that coffee does not have gluten in it. I mentioned the same points that you just did regarding cross sensitivity. He was not the least bit concerned about me consuming coffee. However, the dietician there did not want to see me exceed a 3 cup serving per day. Hope this helps. -
I enjoyed craft beers and wine prior to my diagnosis. The beer is gone but I do enjoy a glass of wine occasionally, albeit rare. A glass of red is a non issue but a glass of white throws me off a little. Nothing exaggerated but I can tell the difference.

ARCHIVED Really? Is There New Info?
eers03 replied to 1974girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The silent celiac should absolutely stay gluten free. The atypical patient is becoming the typical. Just because one is not having the classical symptoms does not mean that damage is not being done. -
ARCHIVED Healing - Running Out Of Patience.
eers03 replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A great food checker is a book called "Gluten-Free Grocery Shopping Guide". I learned about it while I was at Mayo. Its like a bible for most items that you will find in a store that we can have. If its not listed in the book, you probably should not purchase it. I also keep an app on my iPhone called "Shopwell" and it allows me to quickly scan a barcode... -
ARCHIVED I'm Having A Break Down.. I Need Help Please
eers03 replied to Skittles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Skittles, Hey you! If you or someone you know has an iPhone, check out Foodily. It's an app that you can set up to give you recommendations for dinner, lunch, or breakfast recipes based on the dietary restrictions you input. Its a free app. One thing I would keep in mind is that ones nerves, or anxiety can do funny things to our appetite and stomach...
