  1. In central NJ, we got 7 inches snow and no power outage. Prayers were answered. Thanks again for them. My wife and I shoveled out this AM and afterwards decided we had enough of this type of workout. Bought an electric snowblower for the next storm. We're in our 60's and so far can manage with these things but it will make snow clearing a little...
  2. Accepted. Make progress on your journey, become well and stay well.
  3. The label (MegaFlora Plus) shows the following symbols : vegetarian, soy free, dairy free, non GMO, and tested free of pesticides and herbicides. Other ingredients: cellulose and ascorbyl palmitate.
  4. With Sandy, we were out of power for 4 days. Others had it worse and still do. Big $$$$ but we got a whole house genenator. Runs on natural gas 24/7/ forever. Just need to change the oil every 200 hours. On/Off is fully automatic. The idea of standing in a long line for some gasoline didn't appeal to us anymore. Hopefully it will add re-sale value to the...
  5. I had a Lymes test done last March. It was negitive. So i'm stuck with celiac. Good for you Sir38. Carry on.
  6. Hum! posture. Food for more thought(gluten-free, of course ) Maybe it's time for a massage. My next PCP appointment is Feb. 28. I'll get a referral for a therapist. My local YMCA offers personnal training instruction @ $450/10 sessions. For better health, what's a few more out-of -pocket $$$$$. Thanks for the enlightenment.
  7. Me too. for years. Cann't seem to get rid of the pain either. My PCP thinks I'm not doing exercises properly. Go see a personnal trainer, he says. I've been careful not to pull a muscle or break any bones. I know what my limits are with weight training and interval treadmill walking. Just keep moving! My pain is more in the shoulders and neck area....
  8. Try MegaFlora Plus. It's certified gluten free. 50 billion CFU, 14 strains+ 7 mg Vit C.
  9. I'm not laughing.
  10. Thanks for expanding the meaning.
  11. As time goes by, you will find out what your sensitivity to gluten really is. A product labeled as "gluten free" means less than 20 ppm. Most celiacs can tolerate that amount. Some can not. They go totally non packaged food. Be patient in healing. Reba, what kind of music do you like? and welcome to the forum.
  12. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers . I got my new 10K generator ready. A lesson from Storm Sandy.
  13. I started( Jan 27, 2013) a probiotic/dig.enz. program. Hope it helps with frequency of bowel movements as well as color, odor, and appearance of poo. Yes, a good turd is hard to find with celiac. I'm bothered with IBS/GERD issues since 2007. In March, 2012, I started to slowly introduce more fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, and protein into my diet. For...
  14. You are a Life Saver. They too will keep the juices flowing.
  15. I have a dry mouth for years. A GFD didn't fix either. Doc suggested chewing gum. It would help saliva flow for better digestion after meals and keep mouth wet inbetween. Do be careful with any intolerance to sugar alcohols( ie: sorbitol). Can give one GI symptoms (stomach pain, gas, diarrhea). TRIDENT sugar free gums contain natural and artifical...
  16. To date, chocolate, spices, tomato sauce, caffiene, salt (something new!), and fatty foods were mentioned. We should also avoid citrus fruits, mint, vinegar and alcohol. To date, Rx's lansoprazol, carafate and omeprazole (aka: Prilosec) were mentioned. My input to this very interesting topic follows; I was Dx'ed with AR/GERD in Sept, 2007 having indulged...
  17. How high is it? The body uses testosterone to help break down glucose. A shortage can lead to diabetes. I'm 68/male and my last bloodwork (Nov,2012) resulted in a glucose level of 108 mg/dL( lab range:65-99). Very hard to lower it without a Rx. Went sugarless but my PCP won't authorize a Testosterone test unless I declare ED via a urologist. Make progress...
  18. I read it. Consider it my bible of celiac disease. I will recommend it to my GI/ PCP so we will be on equal level.
  19. An opposing challenge to this remark. When time permits, I'll review some of the topics/post in the major DH heading. I pondered over DH vs heat rash for a long time. No Doc ever Dx'ed me for DH. I reviewed/compared some photos on the internet and it can be nasty stuff. The rash(almost look the same) varies in intensity and body location for both. Last...
  20. The "pillcam" is used to Dx refractory celiac disease if you don't respond to a GFD. Opt for getting tissue biopsies first. The thought of being ".....put under" was the best 30 minutes of sleep I ever had.
  21. I just started taking MegaFood, "MegaFlora Plus." It' dairy, soy and certified gluten-free. Make progress, become well and stay well.
  22. Celiac for 30 years. "Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not." I definately will see a Doc. Thanks for posting this topic.
  23. I'm a male/ 68 and yet to have a bone scan. I notice when I jog that my left hip begins to hurt after about 5 minutes. The right is OK. The pain comes and goes throughout a 30 minute walk/jog treadmill workout. What symptoms does a T- score of -2.5 have? Am I starting osteopenia myself? Until I can get a scan, I'll err on the side of caution.
  24. How did he Dx'ed that for you? Some test method, blood test result or by symptoms alone, etc? I might join the club myself soon.
  25. I'm not but my son does. He was never tested for celiac disease. I often wonder about that but he doesn't complain of any symptoms. He lives in the NW section of the city. We( from NJ) visit him often and like NM very much. Yes, the Balloon Fiesta in Oct is awesome. Make progress, get better and stay well.
