Paula:
Why don't you start a food diary? Maybe that could help you pin down what is irritating you.
-

Yes it is there, but I was referring to the extremely evil and unthinkable act of... do I dare even speak it? posting a link in response to a question! OMG HOW EVIL!
LOL
Sorry, sometimes I really need to just go to bed instead of check this thread
Posting a link in response to a request is a non issue, or an informative link is always welcome. As far as I know you are free to do that. People with personal websites and web pages are encouraged to post them on their personal profile page.
don't shoot the messenger.

I have been told not to post links to my personal site which is mostly just a collection of photos of me and my family. Very dangerous stuff! Must be outlawed! LOL
I'll email it to you.
Vincent, you can post you web site on your personal profile page here.

Vegas is on, BABY!!!!!!!
Guess the airline will not have any excitement -- as in, "Um excuse me, but if I suddenly lose consciousness, could you please make sure I get to a hospital as soon as we land. I have an aneurysm."
Sick humor, yes, but hey, I was talking to Karen. And, as you may very well remember, when she and I get together, well, the humor goes straight to he**.

Did it help you?
Did it help me? I never thought that I could regulate it, or rather regulate me. I do recall that it kept me in the house in the morning for several hours. I don't remember any side effect other than that. Soon after that Celiac kicked in, and found way no need for it.
-
Hi there,
The more I read about Celiac makes me so sure that I have this. I have battled for years to find out what is wrong with me. No one in my family has it that I know of. But I have had IBS for years, lots of gas all the time, I am constantly burping, always feel bloated too. Ever since I got meningitis 8 years ago I went from 130 lb to 115 and never gained it back. now I'm 108 at 5"5 and no matter how much I eat I can't gain weight!! I found out last summer that I was extremely anemic so I started taking Iron pills which helped. I thought that was why I couldn't gain weight and was tired all the time but when I got re-tested last month it was normal because of taking iron 3x day. Also I started developing pain in my legs and cramping and tingling in my feet 3 years ago. They did several tests and couldn't find anything and chalked it up to fibromyalgia. Anyway, I called a gastrointerologist today to make an apt to be tested. I was describing my symptoms and the receptionist said I probably don't have it becuase I would notice right after I ate anything with gluten that i would instantly feel really sick. But everything I have read, it sounds like it's a constant bad feeling no matter if it's right after eating or not? Can anyone tell me it this is true or not? Thanks for reading my long post.
Hey Nicole and Welcome:
Celiac has over 200 symptoms and you have several. What stands out for me is that you had meningitis and more serious symptoms arrived. Celiac is often trigger by an illness, trauma, pregnancy, stress. You weight loss and iron deficiency is also a good indicator. Many people here have also been misdiagnosed with fibro as well. Celiac is in your family and you very well may be predisposed to Celiac and your meningitis kicked it in.
What really bothers me is that a receptionist is diagnosing you. She is ill informed and making statements effecting the health and wellness of patients seeking help, frankly, is not within her relm of responsibility, nor experience.
Continue with a full gluten diet, demand a full Celiac Panel (some one here will post that for you) and follow through with your appointment.
Please ask if you have any further question.

It is fun and nice to know everyone a little bit better.

Thanks for your reply, Momma Goose, I appreciate it.
Another concern/question - if I eat gluten everyday, should I be sick everyday? I only ask this because yesterday, I had a horrible case of diarrhea. It was my friend's birthday, so we had pizza. And I don't have diarrhea (yet) today, but I do feel kinda sick.
Also, this is kind of random, but should there be a bubbling feeling in my gut? It feels like I'm passing gas, except its not actually leaving my body. It's just depleating in my bowel. I know it sounds weird, but I've been noticing it for a couple of months and I noticed the rumbles are longer and worse. I have no idea what it is, but if you do, could you enlighten me? I'd appreciate it, lol.
Thanks again!
Lissa:
Everyone's reaction time is different. When I was at my sickest (not kowing why), my lunch would slide through within 20 minutes, and very very acidy. It was like a "slip-n'slide" in there with no villi to catch the food. Two years later, my gluten reaction is routinely 22 hours later.
I think that you symptom can reflect the amount of damage done
My first signs of the autoimmune reaction is a dry mouth and loud gurgles and bloating. I expect that the pizza is working it was through your intestings is causing the gurgeling.
If you had a positive blood test for Celiac, no further testing needs to be done to confirm it. An endoscopy exams can show the damage done to your intestings and biopsies can be taken to confirm. But you already have a diagnosis.
So, if you are going to be tested further, you much remain on gluten . Or, if you a confident of you positive blood test, you can begin the gluten free diet immediately.
Let us know how you are doing.

I was put on Zelnorm prior to my diagnosis.

I would highly recommend seeking your doctors advise. Comming off two meds at the same time can be dangerous.

I really want to name her Annika, but my husband isn't completely sold on that name. I just think it's such a feminine name. I want to call her baby Annie then when she's little. That way, when she grows up she has so many choices for for what she gets to be called: Ann, Annie, Nik, Nikki, Annika... There are just so many cute choices there and I like all of them. Plus, one of my best friends is named Anne (Annie) so the name has a really positive vibe to it for me.
I'm still stuck on middle names though. I like either Imogen (hubby's mother is named Jean), Emily, or Emmy (after a song that my best friend and I love). My daughter is actually named after my best friend also.
Carla, I'm about 24 weeks.
Not Gulia Goose...so disapointed
I have an Ann Lloyd. I chose Ann and she is always called Annie. It just fits her personality. Lloyd is a family name. (But I think that we have been her before)..
You won't know until you see her face. Girls are special. (until they get to be teenagers and then they morf into such strange beings)
Happy for you Angie and may all wonderrful things come you way.

In the two years that I have been on this site, I have made some close connections, exchanged phone numbers and have a new learning of what kindness and friendship can be. I am not a girly girl and very slow to open up my life to others. Given a baby shower or bridal shower, I would rather eat an entire Pizza Hut Pizza all by myself
But I am overwhelmed sometimes about the amount of giving that people do here and the caring for everyone who opens that door, and asks (end of sap - I have exceeded my limit)
With the experience and education of all of you, we can heal the world. Now I know who to ring up when things go awry.

I am amazed that so many of you are in the sciences or the numbers business. What comes to mind is detail, detail, detail. Analysis, analysis, analysis.
Anyone up to a hypothesis?

I am sorry that you have been feeling badly.
If you have been eating out, this could be you source. Whether of not you eat gluten free, does not mean that the kitchen utensils in the restaurant would be as strict as you would be at home, nor the CC. Busy kitchens can be a big risk.
You also may find yourself with other sensitivites since gluten free. It is very common.
You could now find out what being "glutened" is all about. I have found that it hits back harder. Or, in the fact that we felt so bad, that we didn't know what feeling good was like.
I would suggest to go back to the basics and get you body back on track and then keep a food diary.
Hope you feel better soon.

I would think that they would have a list of ingrediences that you could view. I would never buy it because is always looks discolored and not covered...just looked kinda gross to me.

I teach ESL in the Embassies here in Ottawa. Right now I teach most of my classes in the French Embassy (fascinating group, these French diplomats)! I am also a very starving artist...I do murals commercially and I also do portrait work from home. I'm not in the least science or math-minded, but I still manage to be geek extraordinaire!
EMILY!!!! I want you picture back. Don't want to look at some bruiser puck putter. (don't hurt me Canada

Question from US-Southern, how many of Canadians that post here are fluent in french and what is your primary language? Just a question of interest from the land down under.
(I would love to see some of your work)

Paula, I had (have) one that went through the seven year plan and has ONE degree.
How in the world did you do it???? It's in Chemistry, so I guess I have to give her a little slack.

This may sound strange and perhaps I am. I love duck butts. When they are in the water and duck under the water and their butts stick straight up in the air.
Maybe that's way a duck is called a duck
