Hey Radman,
Order some "Opus One" wine for your beer buddies, it will stop them in their tracks. As a doctor, I can only assume that you have very refined taste and budget.
Makers Mark is cheaper by far.
With all seriousness, I am glad that you are still here with us. Let us know you are feeling with your gluten-free diet. Has anyone told you about shampoos, shave cream, soap, lip moistu......

Radman:
If you need a manly drink try Maker's Mark on the rocks. My choice is Seagrams 7 - 7up...not manly enough but it works for me.
I also agree with Fiddle-Faddle that there are levels of sensitivity. After reading so much on this site, I have realized that, although I get glutened, my level is not as intense as others.
As far as ages goes and your level of indulgeing. what in the world does that mean.... My mother died when I was 2 1/2, my step-mother died when I was 20 and my father died when I was 22. Talk about being alone. I have a daughter going to be married in two months with her sister close behind. and I want to be healthy enought to watch my grandchildren graduate from high school, I want to take pictures for the prom and I want to see it all. And if I have to watch my diet for the rest of my life to achieve those goals, I will damn well do it.
I am 51 years old and I have a whole lot of things that I need to do. Choices, it is all choices, and as the Templer Knight said "choice, wisely".

First of all I would like to welcome you to the board.
Second of all....I have to the best of my knowledge been gluten free since August. Obviously, new to this diet there have been many times that I made a mistake or was not as diligent as I should have been.
It has taken me nearly eight months to learn to identify when and where I have been glutened. It is a long learning process as has been for everyone here on the site. My personal difficulties are when I am feeling "normal", I catch myself living my "before Celiac" lifestyle. A resent instance, was Sunday afternoon at a Bridal Shower, when I took one small carrot and diped once into a ranch dressing dip. The subsequent result was three days of painful acid D and fatigue.
I am not as technical as some who post here. I do feel that you need to read more of this disease. I am to date one of the blessed ones here. I have developed few of the side effect of celiac, which mine includes minor brain loss in the right side of my brain and moderate muscle atrophy. Basically, I starved my brian of all foods to maintain a health active orgain. And yes, I am lucky, many of my friends here are in wheelchairs. My future may spell out other issues.

It seems like you came up with the perfect solution. As well, you have worked with a new line of cullinary chefs that will know about gluten free diets....Kudos to you.

Yup...bite them little heads off.

Cindy:
I could only assume that wall paper paste is water and a flour base as is standard glue. I would suggest that you wash your hands frequently and watch out for slatters toward your face. Good luck. And be careful.

Thanks guys, working it out as we speak
It is sooo hard to go to functions and be polite. Everyone noticed that I was not eating, so I tried to look around and try what I though would be safe. As in the "Indiana Jones movie".....I choose poorly. Another lesson learned. Ugg, again. Feel better now though. A good night speep and I should be good to go in the morning. I don't think that I have the three day glutten experience. I feel lucky.
Thanks for your responses.

Okay.......ranch dressing with one carrott or punch with Hawaiian punch in it. So where is the gluten. Returned home and had the big D and BIGGER stomach.
My bet it was the punch. What do you think? Shamoo tonight.

Bla..........An hour later, it was not a pretty sight. Just thought I would pass that on, or am I the only dumb butt on site.

We are doing a wedding for my daughter June 10........Some gluten, others not. Grilled smoked pork tenderloin on the grill a head of time with gluten free dry rub (Emeriles), Polenta, or wild rice - Fresh tomatoes with Motzzerela cheese - sp?, with a gluten free vineagar/balsamic dressing with fresh parsley or basel. - Cheese and pate's with various crackers and breads (not me). Cheese is good and pates. Smoked Salmon with Emerils dry rub for Salmon. I can eat almost everything except for the bread.
Sorry about the spelling, drank a milkshake in the way back from the beach - a white poop event tonight.
Many things I can eat, but the obvious will be there. We set it up so some of the older people can make a plate, or you could stand and munch.
Work with your cater and request specific seasonings and you should do well and have a wonderful time.
PM me if you have any other questions, perhaps I can be of help.

I really don't know the reason for the afternoon bloat. When I had bathroom issues it came after lunch and perhaps thay may be my connection. Around 4:00 I take a zantac and that help me subside the bloat sort of, but it helps. Breakfast and dinner have never been an issue for me, but lunch (ususally a rice cake with PB&J and some jello) is always my problem time.

Tyson precooked roasted chickens are gluten-free. Just read the ingredients.
richard
Yeah, richard, you just made my day. A no cook dinner, what a relief. Thanks.

I still don't understand the Probiotics. Rachel, can you spell it out for me in laymens terms. I think that you have to take Pro to counter the Anti-B, when you need them....other than that I don't know. Should I be taking them now .

Oh my God, we have caught and captured a doctor. I am glad Radman likes active discussion or he'd be out of here in a flash.
Once again welcome to the board, I think. It is obvious that many of us like to bounce things off you and glad for your responses.
Hang in there Radman, learn and pass the word. Glad you're here.

Perhaps you should eliminate dairy from your diet for a while and see if you feel better. You mentioned cheese alot in your post. Hope you feel better soon.

Very very true. I had never heard of Celiac Disease before mine kicked in, as I am sure many others were in the same boat. If it were not for the interet and this site, I would still be in the bathroom thinking I was dying of cancer.
-
Radman:
I for one am tickeled silly to have a doctor on board. Welcome, welcome, welcome.
I have been hanging around this site for about 7 months and the folks here extremely intellegent, dilligent and wonderfully caring. I think that you will find this as well.
Before dx with Celiac, I literally could not leave my house. (The bathroom as five seconds away, and I usually got there in six seconds
) I have learned so much here as my doctor had no information to give me.
You are probably overwhelmed by now with all the sources submitted to you. Please take some time here to read through alot of these posts. It has been a God-send to me.
Welcome again and we are all glad that the diet is working for you.

I would think that a diognosis would be necessary. I don't know if diognosis would ease his mind, or otherwise. But it certainly would help him with insurance issues. As far as the ADA rules...I have no clue.
Life can be cruel sometimes. I am sorry.

Holy Cow Shirley....I can't imagine what I would have said. He must have been 99 years old and just got off the Saratogga Wagen Trail, or widowed for 79 years. Hah

I Cup Gluten Free Pantry French Bread Mix
4-Tablespoons water
1 egg
Mix all to form a ball. Make two large sheets. Roll half of dough between two sheet of parchment paper dusted with more bread mix until thin.. Repeat for second half of dough.
Cut into squares and prick with fork to make it look like matzah and keep it from rising. On pan cover with parchment paper, bake quartes at 440F for 18 mins. Remover cool, enjoy.
From the Gluten Sprue Association.
Just thought to pass it on. Hope it works.

Karen, you alway surprize me, yet even now. I wish I had half of your humor. Radman does not know about altoids, but I sure he would like an explaination.

Radman - all modifide food starch in the US is corn based and therefore is gluten free. FYI.
Sweet deams...yawn.
