  1. That's really pissy. I would also write the company and identify the store. On the other end, you're not going to get concerned people at fast food places. They don't care, the just need enough money to pay their car payment. The manager should be chastised without a doubt.

    sorry for you experience.

  2. Just take one step at a time..and then your have your material. I will be more than glad to contibute.

Add to your list as you go and you will be surprized how many you have.

The cool thing about this idea is that you could use named band produce, although it may change, you can use a disclaimer.

After the summer, I can (maybe) do this. Don't want to make promises that I can't keep. ;)

  3. Just review the recipies, I was wondering if a motivated person on the board would like to compile a cook book, Ginko's could put it together and we could buy if from that motivated person. Recipies with brand names to make it easy, would be a wonderful help to new and old members here.

As well, as a little profit for the effort. I would buy it in heart beat.

Oh, yeah, that's a great idea. (not me, I'm spending all my free time putting on a wedding in THREE MONTHS, for 500 of my closest and dearest friends  ..... take a deep breath, Lisa.)

    Any takers.

  4. Just in case, I would take immodium with you. It servers me pretty well for a day. Choose well off the menu and always ask how the food it prepared and talk to the manager. Explain your diet and with hopes you can enjoy yourself.

When I go out of town, before lunch, I take an immodium for a safe guard. It doesn't mean that I won't get glutened, but at least I can get home without a problem.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I do agree with richard, which I usually do, everyone is different.

I only had the sharp, knife pains before diog., after going gluten free (or as best as I was able.), I had the D issue. It was months before I would go out of town. Living in a very small town, sometimes I could not make it to the Post Office. Worse yet, standing on my back porch, the bathroom was 20 seconds away, I got there in 25 seconds. Celiac can be a very humbling experience. I have thrown out 2 pairs of my favorite jeans and two of the best lipsticks that I did not have the will to retrieve.

This is the best week that I have had in a long time. I am getting the feel for this. I really don't miss much. I didn't like bread, pizza, beet, pasta. I think that my body was always telling me something.'

So the lesson to this story is to, always listen to your body. It will tell you what it needs.

    Be patient, and diligent.

Hope th is will be helpful. - Lisa

  6. Vincent:

Maybe the young ones are more inclined, with their little tummies. I , to my knowledge, have not been gluten by the fries. But on the other hand I am still trying to work out healing and glutened. So I have not comments about the fries. I'm not there yet.

I thank richard on his submission. He has always been a very consistant and accurate source.

After, McD's FF, M&M's, might I suggest that salt has gluten in it's process. No.......Never mind, just kidding!

What would we do with our home cooked French Fries. JUST KIDDING. :o

  7. If lactose causes you problems, don't go there. If you have damage to your villi, it will take quite some time to heal. It has taken me almost 6 months to start the healing process and to know when I am glutened or just healing.

I am just now beginning to know the difference. Hope this will be helpful. Be patient

I am not lactose intollerent and don't feel that I am in the minority.

Know your body and respond to what you react to.

  8. Just had a conversational with a man who ownes the company that sells over the counter suppliments. Including probiotics. He is doing alot a reseach on this and of course gluten was the issue of discussion. He is going to reasearch his sources to make sure that their produce is gluten free. His clients are Mutual Drugs.

But, he said that you could take his capsule, empty it, and put it over your food, if the capsule may be unsure of gluten............. I said OH NO that won't work, and sited a hot dog with a bun and you just take off the dog off the bun. Same thing. Told him that every thing needs to be gluten free, including his providers. And that all suppliments should be ALL gluten free........

I suggested that he contact the Celiac-Sprue Assoc.

If you have time, drop Mr Nudi an e-mail and stress the importance for suppliments to be listed as gluten free. He is really a nice guy and use my name freely. Hubby told him that you will get more reaction to this conversation than you really want.

He is willing an open, so let's tell him what we think. Hope we can get some truth in labeling added vitaimines. Let's cheer the guy on..

If interested, post an E-mail to him, Please

    Thanks guys.

  9. In addition to Celiac I also have a large Hiatal Hernia , with that I take Omeprazole 20 mg. - generic for prilosic, once in the morning and also in the evening. That is veyr helpful and puts off surgery for as long as I can be comfortable.

    Hope this helps

  10. Are we still talking about dumb people, good, I hope so........

Went out of town today and we ate lunch at Don Pablo's. I asked them if they have a gluten free menu, as I have heard that they do. The manager said, "Oh yes, but that's on the internet, we don't have that here at the restaurant". Jim and I just stared at her in disbelief.........She said "Is anything wrong". I said "Oh, yeah". If I wasn't not pooped (ha, I made a funny), I would have gotten on my high horse.

Hey B-- go easy, I live in the south and if they did not build a bridge to the next county, we'd all be chasing our tails. We go to family reunions to find a date. ( I'm from "away", my blood is clean).

  11. Zantac 75 or 150 helps me alot. - gluten free

Also, I take one Omeprozole (generic for prilozec) once in the morning and once at night). I have a have a large hietal hernial, in addition to celic. The symptoms are often confusing. Without the meds, I know that I would have the bloating and the pain of excess gas. It helps me alot.,

    Hope this will be helpful.
