  1. I also want to note that those who share my thoughts, have been dealing with Celiac and associated ills for many years. With experience comes wisdom. I am sure that many, many people are still adjusting the this new lifestyle. It does take some time.
  2. Here is my thought: A crowded hectic restaurant with a hassled waitress is the last place that I would seek help in ordering for my Celiac child, let alone a place where they primarily serve gluten specialties. I would not expect her to spend extra time with my family, when ten others are yelling for her. You have to make good choices to eat when...

  4. Many companies will not guarantee their product is gluten free, because they do not test for gluten. They can state that there are no gluten ingredients. Under those circumstances, I would consider that product gluten free. Many times it's a CYA Statement.
  5. I watched last night with one eye closed. I missed it. What I watched was about a teacher killed by another teacher and they blamed the street kid. Maybe I saw another show. I would have liked to have heard that. Yes, I agree, in the four years that I have been dealing with this, it's been nothing short than miraculous.
  6. ' larrymac, check the date of that post.
  7. Open Original Shared Link Why not just try the Miracle Whip and loose the "Lite". I find it difficult to believe that Miracle Whip is gluten free, but the "Lite" version is not.
  8. Hormel has some gluten free options. And some Thai soups are easy. Underwood Deviled Ham is gluten free. I mix it up with cream cheese and it's great with carrotts and celery.
  9. Generally, modified food starch is derived from corn. If it is derived from wheat, it by law, must be listed as "modified food starch (wheat)" or listed in an allergen statement. Be careful with regular processed meals. Often "natural flavor or species" could contain barley, malt or rye, as they are not required to be listed. I really have to dig through...
  10. Kraft's policy is to always list all forms of gluten. If wheat, barely, malt or rye are not clearly listed on the ingredient listing or allergen statement, it is gluten free.
  11. I don't know about a connection, but there are many people here who have had their gallbladder taken out PRIOR to their diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Here is an article found on this site: https://www.celiac.com/articles/119/1/Gall-...ggan/Page1.html
  12. The weekends around here are always slow. Sometimes it takes some time for someone to address your post.
  13. I would request a copy of the pathology report from the biopsy samples. You can post them here for interpretation. As mentioned earlier, the current available testing is not as accurate as we would like. An endo/biopsy exam can rule Celiac in, but it cannot rule it out either.

    ARCHIVED Specialists?

Well, recovery time depends on the dedication to the diet and the extent of damage done before gluten free diet began. Have your begun the diet? If you feel you need to see another doctor or have further testing, you must continue to eat gluten. I would suggest that you have a metabolic test done to check for any deficiencies due to Celiac and go...

    ARCHIVED Specialists?

How were you diagnosed? A little more information would be helpful to answer your questions. And, welcome.
  16. Is it plain vodka, or is it flavored?
  17. Hey Jenny, It sounds like your doctor is very cautious. That's a good thing. I'll be sending lot of good thoughts you way. You too, think positive thoughts.
  18. Prewashing and a run in the dishwasher should be fine.
  19. Nor have I. Gluten is not a virus or bacteria.
  20. Hey Jen, MSG may not be too good for you, but it's not gluten related. I took me several months of healing before I could tell that I had been glutened. In the beginning everything that I ate effected me due to the fact that I was not healed. Give it some time, be careful about what you eat and read, read, read from this site.
  21. They key word here is "most". The representative at the makeup counter has a book of ingredients. Please check before purchasing MAC, as some lipsticks do contain gluten.
  22. Although glutenfreedrugs is a great site and I have passed it on many time, it on occasion has information that is not updated. It's always a good rule, to have more than one source of confirmation, especially when dealing with pharms. They tend to change quickly.
  23. Open Original Shared Link Genetic testing for celiac disease Celiac disease is a multigenic disorder associated with HLA-DQ2 (DQA1*05/DQB1*02) or DQ8 (DQA1*0301/DQB1*0302). HLA DQ2 is expressed in the majority (>90%) of those with celiac disease and DQ8 in about 8%. The expression of these HLA-DQ2 or DQ8 molecules is necessary but not sufficient...
  24. All distilled alcohol is considered safe for Celiacs. Some very sensitive people may react. If wheat is an ingredient, it by law, must be listed on the ingredient listing or allergen statement. Your quote from Watkins, is a CYA statement. Your alcohol in your extract is corn derived.
