  1. Boars Head is a great company. Thanks.

  3. I believe 'leethinker' was refering to an endoscopy exam, rather than an Upper GI Series.
  4. First of all, I think that most of us thought of Celiac as a welcome diagnosis. A simple (well, not so simple in the beginning) dietary change is it's RX. You most certainly can have Celiac, a gluten intolerance or a gluten allergy. You can rule Celiac in, but testing cannot rule it out. There are no guaranteed diagnosis other than a positive dietary...
  5. I don't know your history, but it may be likely that your grandson has inherited the genes for Celiac. There have been many discussions here about gluten being transferred into breast milk. I would make sure that your daughter is not ingesting gluten while breast feeding. Check the formula and make sure that it is gluten free. I have to admit, that...
  6. Hi Bridget, I think that most of us on the other side of the pond enjoy a more subtle morning meal. My obsession at the moment is Van's Waffles, toasted with peanut butter and orange marmalade.

  8. I like this statement And, I totally agree.
  9. Wildwood, You daughter has recieved a positive diagnosis through her blood work, which doesn't need to be supported by an endoscopy exam. She does have Celiac. You daughter may have been lucky to have been diagnosed before any considerable damage was done. (Although, a barium test is does not diagnose).
  10. I have had great experiences. The staff is knowledgeable and very accommodating. They will even cook your own pasta for you. The menu is extensive for a nice restaurant, from a great caesar salad to a drop dead desert. I highly recommend Carrabas.
  11. The R.O.C.K. groups should publish their candy list soon. I ALWAYS look forward to that. (but no hershey products for me ))
  12. I was going to note the Canadian recipe/ difference, but Peter beat me to it. Lea & Perrins is gluten free in the US not Canada. There is a similar situation with Campbell's US and Canada. Both have different gluten free listings.
  13. Yup, that's why we like Heinz!
  14. I too have my husband class reunion this weekend. I am fortunate that the reunion is in the town where I live and I am familiar with what will be served. Nothing will work for me. I plan on bringing a plate of peeled spiced shrimp (with old bay), gluten free crackers and a couple of samples of cheese, grapes and fresh veggies. Wine is being served...
  15. I have heard that people have issues with Quaker, still others have no problems. I choose Lumberg, which is manufactured at a dedicated facility.

  17. MSG is not so good for you, BUT it is NOT Gluten related.
  18. This is the complete panel to order: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level. There are 3 current methods to diagnose Celiac: 1. Blood Panel 2. Endoscopy Exam and Biopsy (small intestine) 3. Postive Dietary Response Celiac...

  20. Welcome Christina! You could not have found a better place to hang out. If we can help you in any way, just ask.
  21. Guessing...some people react to Quaker Rice Cakes, others don't. I eat Lumberg Rice Cakes. Have others double-dipped into the PB? Did you wash well after making the sandwich? Have you checked your old, scratched pots and pans, toaster, colander, shampoo, lip balms/sticks, lotions, meds, vitamins? Gluten is a tricky little sucker and can hide everywhere...
  22. The blood tests for Celiac are not as reliable as we would like. There is some talk these days that the ranges that we consider positive is too narrow. Many here are self diagnosed and feel quite comfortable with that conclusion. A dietary response is also an accepted diagnosis. You can test yourself by being as close to 100% gluten free as possible...
  23. BRING BACK THE EDIT BUTTON ....debris (not that anyone would notice)
  24. Sorry about your trip Laura, but it is rather crappy around here. You made a good choice. You'll just have to make the next trip EXTRA special. I have a yard full of debre to drag to the street. Annie took some pictures of home and the beach and I try to post them when she gets back from the beach with her camera... (translation, I will have her...
  25. Hanna's eye just passed here. It's blowing like a son-of-a-gun with Soundside flooding. I'm not looking forward to the yard clean-up in 98% humidity.
