  1. Perhaps this may help: Open Original Shared Link
  2. Yes, I would contact that manufacturer. I have found that many/most meds do not contain any gluten, and if so a substitution may be available.
  3. Hydrolyzed ingredients, modified vegetable proteins and starches do not indicate gluten. What ingredients are in question?
  4. I received a call from a nice young lady looking for diagnostic help in the Raleigh/Durham area. Any support links/contacts would be welcome. Thanks, Lisa
  5. Modified Food Starch is generally derived from corn in the US. By US FDA law, if it's source is wheat it MUST be listed as "Modified Food Starch (Wheat)".
  6. "My son was born in October and when he was just 8 days old, he started having wretched diarrhea. It lasted 20 days..." I don't understand how a child as young as 8 days can have diarrhea associated with Celiac, unless he is reacting to your breast milk.
  7. Hi Dawn and welcome here! These are the test (the whole panel) that your doctor needs to order: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level I don't know how old your son is, but often times these tests are not very reliable for...
  8. MSG is not gluten related. Not so good for you, as you said, but not gluten related. I use HerbOX bouillon all the time.
  9. Hi Jenny and Welcome! I am a person with Celiac Disease, but not a Celiac. Biopsies can be very hit and miss and there are many, many false negatives. If your biopsy is negative, but you have a genetic history, I would go on the diet for a few months and my bet is that you will see great improvement in your health. Or, you could pursue genetic...
  10. As dish23 has said, Campbell's (US) Pork and Beans are NOT listed on their gluten free listing. (Campbel's Canada has a different gluten free listing).
  11. I do think that you need some time to forget what real bread, pasta and cookies taste like, in order to appreciate the gluten free versions. As the others mentioned, with a compromised gut, it helps to feed it foods that are easily digested.
  12. EDIT.. Here ARE additional comments from another thread. SCOTT, PLEASE BRING BACK THE EDIT BUTTON!!
  13. I am glad that you both had the opportunity to meet. That's alway fun. I have met Tom, Mouse (Metta) and Broncobux (Chris) and I have some summer plans to meet some other members. It's exciting to meet in person.

  15. I would highly recommend the Triumph Dining Guide as well as the Triumph Restaurant Cards. You can check them out at www.triumphdining.com or they are available at the Gluten Free Mall on this site. I have both and I use them frequently, especially when traveling.
  16. Maltodextrin in the US is derived from corn and is not a gluten issues. Malt, with certain, is not gluten free. Modified Food Starch, by US labeling law, must list wheat if it is an ingredient as in "Modified Food Starch (wheat), as well as Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein. Here is a listing of US companies who will clearly list all forms of gluten (ie...
  17. Welcome, you have found a great place here! Your positive blood work, coupled with genetic testing confirms a diagnosis for Celiac Disease. Welcome to the Club. Positive blood work and biopsies can rule Celiac in, BUT it cannot rule it out. Your have a long pasage way in your small intestines and often sampling can be hit or miss. There...

    ARCHIVED Brain Fog

Everyone's reaction time is different. It is not uncommon for a delay in reation time. Mine is about 24 hours. I have found that B-12 sublingual daily helps with the brain fog.
  19. This is the panel of blood test that he should rule to test for Celiac: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level. What was your doctors testing for (that came back negative?) I would also like to get a full metabolic blood work...
  20. Hey, if it don't come out of a box, it don't get made here! Good luck in your search.
  21. Welcome to the Forum! I was hoping that this thread would have been deleted a long time ago. I would like to suggest that you start a new thread regarding the science linking soy milk to gluten. It might be more beneficial than reviving this way-too-long thread.
  22. Happy Birthday Phyllis!!! You're finally catching up to me. I hope all your wishes come true.

    ARCHIVED Glutenease

QUOTE Celiac People with celiac disease need to follow a strict gluten-free diet. There are scattered reports where someone with celiac was able to resume eating gluten by using amylase or papain (or perhaps both of these enzymes). However, at this time there are no known enzyme products that will consistently and reliably allow a person with celiac...
  24. If you have any intent to be tested for Celiac, DO NOT Begin a gltuen free diet, it may not be as accurate. You may have some food allergies or sensitivities and not specifically Celiac.
