Wine should not impact a healed celiac in theory. Unfortunately, many of us develop intolerances or other illnesses along the way. If you suspect a sulfite intolerance, then avoid those foods that contain high levels. You will have to experiment and determine your own intolerance level. So, all sulfite-containing foods may not bother you, you might be...
  2. Keep it simple at first. Whole fruit, veggies, eggs, fish, rice, meats, nuts, etc. Avoid oats as some celiacs can react to them. Eventually, add in some processed foods after mastering how to read a label. You will get there! ? Ennis does a great job working around his intolerances which are so common and varied with celiacs.
  3. Here is a pharmacist who advocates for celiac disease. He has a "new list". Not all products that he recommended in the past have been re-tested or confirmed. Here is the main page: Open Original Shared Link Here is the new list: Open Original Shared Link Teva is an approved amoxicillin. Ask your pharmacist to order or be like me...
  4. Welcome Inc! We are not doctors here, but if you suspect celiac disease you can ask your doctor to order a blood panel. Learn more about testing here: Open Original Shared Link I wish you well!
  5. Point taken. Anything that is processed is a risk. Anything. Switch brands to see if it helps. I sincerely hope you find a solution.
  6. Consider joining The Gluten Free Watchdog. It is like the Consumer Reports of Gluten Testing. She tests all kinds of products for gluten contamination. The very coffee you have been drinking, though not labeled gluten free, tested as gluten free. So, this coffee is safe. I would provide a link, but it requires a subscription. You can see some text discussing...
  7. It can take a long time to heal from celiac disease for many reasons. When was the last time your antibodies were tested? What medications are you taking that could cause constipation? Have you mentioned this to your doctor? ?
  8. Sorry, but are you blasting off replies without reading? Gemini suggested "Find Me gluten Free". It is a nice website. But it is for everyone, including the gluten free folks who think that gluten-free is great for general health or weight loss. You have to read the reviews written by CELIACS! You still have to ask appropriate questions and, like me...
  9. I agree!!! Unfortunately, this bill keeps getting lost in the shuffle in Congress. I am self-employed, am involved with Band boosters, Girl Scouts, have a kid in high school, and am in an Orchestra. I have not time to champion this worthy cause. If you or others have time, please consider helping this bill get passed. We should work towards a solution...
  10. Ah, like me and so many others, you are managing two or more autoimmune disorders. It is pretty difficult outside of pharmaceuticals to manage Crohn's. I suspect you have carefully confirmed that drugs you are taking are gluten free. I have recently been dealing with hives. My GI and allergist are not sure of the source, but we are thinking a Mast...
  11. Most companies, even drug companies (unfortunately), will not recommend their products for celiacs if they do not test their final product. Ah, those corporate attorneys are always on the watch for product liability. They love issuing a blanket statement like, "Although our products are naturally gluten free or we use no ingredients that contain gluten...
  12. We use Republic of Tea. It is certified gluten free, but mostly we love all the Downton Abbey flavors! Makes us feel as if we were in England! We also drink a lot of plain old Lipton too!
  13. That is great! It should give you piece of mind.
  14. Not sure about how the K cups really work, but is anyone else using the machine? Those with flavors or from other manufacturers could have gluten. I drink coffee without any issues, but just the plain stuff. I think coffee is not on the Fasano diet because it can be harsh on a damaged GI system. Are you consuming oats? About 10% of celiacs...
  15. Dayle, My friend is from Ireland and was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. Her older sister was diagnosed with celiac disease as a child in the 1950's. She too, was told that she would out grow it. She kind of did. She went off the gluten free diet. Celiac disease is like a chameleon, always evolving and changing. She married, had kids...
  16. JV, Please consider researching celiac disease instead of relying on a pediatrician's advice alone. None of my primary care physicians are/were celiac savvy. You should consider a Ped GI referral for care. A GI will know the long term effects of celiac disease and other issues that can develop with it. Already, the red flag that we're are seeing...
  17. How long has she been gluten free? It can take time for nerves to heal from celiac disease damage. When was the last time her antibodies were tested? Often they are tested at 3 to 6 months and then annually to help check for dietary compliance (and to look for a downward trend). And let's face it, the gluten-free diet has a steep learning curve. Open...
  18. Since May is Celiac Disease month, I thought I would share this TED Talk by a little girl named Ireland who has celiac disease: I love TED talks. Fun to listen to while I am ironing. Yes.....I iron!
  19. Welcome! Keep us posted on your celiac blood test results. Just note that some celiacs (especially those who manifest with DH) can have negative blood test results. A special skin biopsy can diagnose a celiac too. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  20. Welcome. You might want to consider getting her tested for celiac disease which requires a person to be on a gluten diet. Going off for as little as two weeks can ruin test results. Why test? Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease -- not an allergy. The known trigger for a celiac flare-up (causing intestinal and systemic damage) is gluten. So, just...
  21. Welcome! I can not say for sure, but the symptoms you listed can be attributed to celiac disease. There is a period of adjustment and a very steep learning curve to the gluten-free diet. I would suggest avoiding processed foods as much as possible until you see improvement or become confident. Read the Newbie 101 thread pinned at the top of the...

    ARCHIVED DH?

Get tested for celiac disease before you go gluten free. Antibodies take a while to ramp up, so cutting out gluten for a few days is not going to help you determine if you have celiac disease. Autoimmune hives is common with celiac disease. I get them for months after a gluten exposure. Antihistamines will help with the itch, but will not necessarily...
  23. It appears that you are doing everything right! ?We have a member who was diagnosed with Type 1 RS, but later found a hidden source of gluten. I was hoping this might apply to you as well. As a mother of a very high achiever, I would encourage you to get plenty of rest. I am the sleep police at home! I hope this sleep advice will carry her through...
  24. You can pack pre-packed gluten-free items in your checked luggage. Just do not bring raw goods like fruit and veggies (we met nice dogs who sniff these items out along the way....because my kid love dogs not because we were smuggling!) Make sure you pack food to take with you on the plane. Even though airlines will offer gluten-free meals for international...
