  1. Please clarify. You were gluten free or "light" when you had both celiac blood panels done? Please check out the University of Chicago's celiac website for proper testing procedures and show your doctor. You have to be eating at a minimum of a slice a bread (or equivalent) to get an accurate test result. You can develop food intolerances at any time...
  2. Ah, the persistent pyramid food group chart that lumped eggs with dairy products.......google the image and you will see!
  3. Jamie, No offense, but have you even read and understood everyone's comments on mercury toxicity? You have three kids that need a mom. You should be under a medical doctor's supervision. I know you live in MS, but drive to New Orleans or Memphis for a consult. Regarding candida, unless you have something like AIDS or chronic thrush in your mouth...
  4. Okay, I will change my position. My first response was based on the fact that I rarely drink, and when I do, it is not brandy, and sometimes I am just too lazy to chase down the answer. That old jar of mayonnaise in the refrigerator? "When it doubt throw it out!" That has carried over into my gluten free life. Not necessarily accurate (that old...
  5. Keep us posted and I wish you luck!
  6. I did not lose any weight going gluten free after my dx, but I did when I was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago. I am basically eating only whole foods. No sweets! Welcome to the forum and check out the newbie section under coping for invaluable tips!
  7. I say no dairy in ANY form for the next three months. Research lactose, casein or whey intolerances. That is a good place to start since most people with celiac disease develop a temporary lactose intolerance due to damaged villi. Do not forget that you can sustain damage to villi from milk but that is rare! If symptoms persist, do check your gallbladder...
  8. How is your gallbladder? Have you had a followup endoscopy to see if you are healing? It is recommended after a year.
  9. Okay, before you request those other autoimmune tests, are you eating dairy? Milk can cause intestinal damage, affect your joints, cause fatigue and make you nauseas. So can other foods that you might be intolerant to like eggs, corn, soy, etc. have you kept a food journal?
  10. Tilapia is a very small fish. It is on the safe list posted by the government.
  11. If you really have issues with mercury, you should be tested by a physician and treated. Did you work near mercury vapors? Did you consume copious amounts of large fish? If you do have mercury poisoning, it has crossed the blood brain barrier and over-the-counter unregulated supplements will not help. Small amounts in amalgam fillings probably has not...
  12. Supply issues still?????? Welcome, Fenrir!
  13. Aw.... Welcome to the club! Here's to a speedy recovery!
  14. The risk of setting off an insanely itchy rash? I would pass.
  15. Ugh! Do not give up gluten yet. My husband gave it up based on input from his clueless doctor and my allergist. It was the right solution, as he has been gluten free for 13 years and he knows gluten makes him sick. However, now he does not have a diagnosis. He would be first one to say that it is much easier in terms of support from medical, family...
  16. I can relate as I am going on Baltic cruise in June on Royal Caribbean. Our last cruise in the Caribbean was on RC too. They did not gluten my husband (before my dx.). I would advise always eating the the main dining-room. Take snacks on all excursions. No sauce, plain food. Get to know your head waiter, waiter and ask for a tour of the kitchen...
  17. She might not just be lactose intolerant but, like me, have whey and casein issues too which are also found in milk. Almost all Chinese people have lactose intolerance compared to Swedes (1 in 50). Tip: Do not buy cheese subs as they often contain casein. Milk can cause damage to the villi too (U of Chicago celiac website). Hope she feels...
  18. Yes, it is possible for her to have Celiac Disease. Hopefully, they did complete panel. You can check out the University of Chicago's celiac website for the exact tests. Hopefully, you will have results soon. There are no known or well established tests for a gluten intolerance. Basically, if you fail all celiac testing, you can try removing gluten...
  19. Drive on Route 66 as much as you can! The AZ visitor center has lots of info. Stop in. Stop at Hoover Dam, but avoid it on the weekend. Take the back roads. It is fun on Route 60 between Quarksite and Phoenix. Go down slide rock in Sedona and be sure to see Jerome. Again small roads are awesome. Food. You will figure it out and you got some great...
  20. I would not worry about the bed wetting. Both my parents were bed wetters, one of their kids ( they considered themselves lucky), and two out of their five grandkids. They all out grew it by age 12. Thank goodness for the invention of pull-ups! I am the one with celiac and I was not a bed wetter, so I do not think it is related. I can not comment...
  21. It damages just the small and things like milk can damage villi, but focus on one thing at a time. Mine did not match. My biopsy showed much more severe damage. Scour the University of Chicago website for complete and accurate information about celiac disease.
  22. I was "mildly" positive o my blood test but my biopsy via endoscopy revealed Marsh Stage IIIB, which is severe damage! My only symptom was anemia and since I had two anemias (one iron deficient and the other genetic) the iron deficiency anemia was attributed to men's traction. Stopped that and the doc noticed that I was still anemic. It has been a year...
  23. I think you need to do more research on celiac disease. My only symptom was anemia (low blood hemoglobin). I had no intestinal issues at all. I was shocked to have been diagnosed based on my doctor's hunch. Pretzels and Oreos are made from plain old white flour and yet you say she does not get a reaction... How can that be? That does not sound like...
  24. I read your previous posting. If your daughter has been gluten free for seven months or so, then her celiac blood panel is going to be negative. And if she took an allergy test (scratch), then you already know her responses to wheat, egg or milk based on her skin reaction in the doctor's office yesterday. Other blood tests for allergies are not very accurate...
  25. I need more information please! Are you saying that she has been gluten free for the past few months? Blood tests are screening for antibodies and if she was not eating gluten for months, it will be invalid and it is tough enough to catch in little ones. Check out the University Chicago's website regarding testing. She would have had to been eating the...
