  1. Thanks! At least you know where you stand. Take care.
  2. Here is a link to the University of Chicago's website explaining testing a very young child. Open Original Shared Link
  3. Thanks for the tip about. Elena's Pantry. Whaaaaa! I am allergic to tree nuts and have an intolerance to coconut. Reacted to coconut milk, but am tolerating refined coconut which I am putting in my coffee. But someone else will benefit, that is for sure. I appreciate the good thoughts! I also know that everyone is different. Going gluten-free has...
  4. I had my 13 year old daughter tested and she showed no symptoms. Neither did I -- just anemia which was blamed on a genetic anemia and peri menopause, but I had celiac disease. I did wait a year though for insurance reasons before testing her and her results were negative. If your baby is doing well and thriving you might want to wait. It seems like...
  5. Wow! I am keeping my fingers crossed about the pre-diabetes thing. I was hoping that it might be related to celiac disease, but was not able to find any research on it. I am eating to my meter and I found that my body does not like carbs. I started testing only because I have a genetic anemia and that affects the Hba1c test and I did not want to wait...

    ARCHIVED Crps

Addie, I have been reading your post over and over and I still do not know what to say. I am so sorry! Keep up with your down-to-earth comments that ring of common sense. I laugh out loud a lot because of you and get weird looks from my 13 year old when I lift my gaze up from my iPad!
  7. In the meantime, put your laundry through a second rinse cycle.
  8. Okay, that is good news about your BMI. I can totally relate to comments about being thin! When I had issues with my gallbladder (non-functioning) people made comments like, "Do you have cancer? Are you anorexic?" Gee, I could not eat without pain. Luckily, I stayed within the BMI ranges but it was still noticeable. I think you need to give it more...
  9. What is your BMI?
  10. I use to dragon sit. Can not say I whether I liked him or not. I did not like the stinky crickets (they really did stink!). Neighbor hooked up with a few other "parents" to purchase crickets in bulk. Good luck!
  11. Takes months to years to see an improvement in most symptoms generated by gluten per most of our forum members.
  12. I do not know. I am only an expert regarding my allergies and intolerances. Ha! I am allergic to eggs, nuts, garlic and milk proteins. If I consume anything related to garlic (onions, leeks, etc.) I react the same way (congestion, itchy mouth, intestinal cramping, rash). Same goes for nuts. If it grows on a tree I am allergic to it, but I am fine with...
  13. Eat tortillas! Eat rice and have a cupcake made with a milk substitute. Just don' t eat bread and donuts! Obviously this is celiac website. Has celiac disease been ruled out? You said that you feel better without dairy, but you know for sure that yeast and tomatoes make you sick? Giving up tomatoes means giving up peppers and potatoes too.
  14. Gas? Any guess regarding the root cause?
  15. I do not have DH, but I understand that even an accidental glutening can bring DH back with a vengeance. Others here have described it as hellish and far worse and taking longer to heal than intestinal symptoms. I can not imagine subjecting a child to a challenge like that. Are you even willing to do a challenge? I would not! My blood test was mildly...
  16. I am 52 and I was anemic. I requested a colonoscopy since all my friends were getting one! GI mentioned celiac and I was shocked. My husband has been gluten free for 13 years and I thought, "What are the odds that both of us have gluten issues?" Blood test mildly positive and my biopsy revealed severe damage. It has been a year and my anemia has resolved...
  17. TR , Welcome to the forum! You responded to a pretty old post. Just wanted to let you know, in case you do not get a response. Labeling laws have changed (or will be) soon, but you are right about oats. I buy only certified gluten-free oats and like you said, it is best to check with the manufacturer when in doubt.
  18. Geez Louise! This iPad makes corrections for you! I meant to say is she feeling (not king) normal? And until she is completely healthy, I would keep breastfeeding. I stopped at 24 months, but my daughter did not have any health issues. Gee, I loved nursing! It was so easy, convenient, cheap and healthy!
  19. Off the top go my head.....green poop usually is fast moving. Maybe her intestinal tract is inflamed and irritated from the procedure, possible meds, etc. I am not a doctor though. Is she a king normal, otherwise? Keep breastfeeding to keep her hydrated.
  20. Sorry to hear that you have been feeling unwell. Glad to hear that you are taking celiac disease more seriously. Take a few moments to read the newbie section under "coping". It points out many hidden sources of gluten. Welcome to the forum! Be patient. It takes time to heal!
  21. HIDA scan results showed 0% functionality and that I did not have any stones. That meant that no matter what supplements, change in diet, my GB was never going to squeeze out bile. In fact, it was infected. Had I not had it surgically removed, I would have been dead. It was just like an infected appendix. You can have BOTH a non-functioning GB and...
  22. No, I do not have gastroparesis yet. I am hoping to avoid all diabetic complications by controlling my blood sugar. I am sure you have exhausted all research and medical support for your diabetes. Good luck to you.
  23. Before my diagnosis, I had anxiety and I was a little crazy. All this resolved when I went strictly gluten free. When my husband gets glutened even my daughter can tell as Dad gets grumpy. I get grumpy too when it happens to me. Gluten can do that to you! Glad to hear that you are really addressing cross contamination issues.
  24. There you go! No more lemons or tomatoes for you. You might test other nightshades like peppers and potatoes as they are related to tomatoes. What was your TSH result? Initially mine was in the normal range but because my thyroid antibodies were sky high, my doc prescribed a little thyroid hormone replacement to help bring down the level antibodies...
  25. A naturopath probably won't be able to order a HIDA scan. A GI or GP/PCP can. The equipment is located in the nuclear department of a hospital. You mentioned that your naturopath shares an office with an MD. I am sure he/she can order one. I suffered for 30 years with an "on and off " functioning gallbladder. The pain was often unbelievable. I ended...
