  1. Ok, here are my thoughts and I hope I don't sound like a *****. We can eat gluten, we can get sick. The problem is that if we continue we know it can lead to cancer and many other problems. We also know we are open to other immune disorders. We can sit around and say woo is me or we can get up and fight for our lives. I do cry, I do get frustrated, I...
  2. Berneses: Kaiti is right. We need to be on the lookout for other immune diseases, even though doctors like mine don't believe it. Roz: How would I look into chinese herbs and stuff? I live in a very small town and I haven't heard anything about these things Thanks
  3. Mel: Just hang in there. If you feel better off gluten then I would just stay off it. So many doctors have been wrong, as I can attest to. It took them years to diagnose celiac with me after many years of them telling me I needed a mental health doctor. We know our bodies the best.
  4. Welcome to the board Patrick. You will learn a lot of useful information here!
  5. I did that but it looked to me like the sauce and seasonings were gluten-free. I just don't want to make a mistake
  6. That's funny nini
  7. There are many bakery items at the gluten free store. What type of baked goods are you looking for?
  8. That made me laugh nini!
  9. I still don't think I would try them again.
  10. Tiffany: Are the spices they use for their shrimp gluten-free? What about the dipping sauce?
  11. Hey Kay: I think it must be your pregnancy, becuase that does not sound good to me!
  12. What a good attitude!
  13. Hi Bette: I am not one that believes you need the endscopy in order to get a diagnosis. Years ago I was very ill and the dr. did a blood test and told me that it showed a disease called celiac but it was so rare he didn't think I had it and should probably see a mental health doctor. Years went by and I really thought it was stress or all in my head, I...
  14. Hey Sidore: I thought I had read somewhere that the coloring in orange soda was not ok? Let me know if that's not right.
  15. The only other thought I would add is that eating out is a risk we take, we all know what can happen. We can choose not to eat out, that's always an option. On the other hand emergency medical care would be more important at the moment I needed it.
  16. I have actually had this internal debate with myself. Don't worry I talk to myself all the time. I think it would be helpful when eating out because I have found that people don't take it seriously. On the other hand I wouldn't want to be in need of emergency care and have some doctor stop to look up celiac. In the end I decided to not do it but I...
  17. It might be because there is some thought in the medical profession that oats may be ok after all. I myself tried eating them and got very ill so won't be doing that again. It's the only reason I can think of that they wouldn't put oats on it.
  18. Hey Kiddo: That went way over my head! (lol) Can you break it down for my simple mind!
  19. Hi Judy: I agree with everything you have said. I think because it takes so many years to diagnose we often feel like it's all in our heads and often times we have even been told that. Well, except being cranky, I think I am that way sometimes but I don't believe it's related to the crankiness (lol)
  20. I agree Mel, getting sick on purpose does not make sense. I do however remember being so angry about this, (maybe a little denial going on) that I ate the food. It was only after getting tired of being sick and tired that I decided it was not worth it. Anyway I think sometimes you have to suck it up and make a decision that you want to live and be healthy...
  21. I probably eat out twice a month, just because I miss the social interaction of a meal. But it's hard because I worry about cross contamination and have often ended up sick. I was out of town last week and ordered a hamburger without a bun and the guy called my name and as I walked up he said, " I forgot, no bun." then took the bun off the hamburger. It...
  22. How right you are Ianm, that's why I said I liked your signature!
  23. Angie Parde Jewelry Designer Angelic Grooves www.angelicgrooves.com 918-519-0826 I ordered a bracelet from her, she engraves it celiac if you want. It's a beautiful green crystal and bead bracelet.
  24. That made me think of the time I went to a restaurant and asked if the potato's (mashed) were real. She said yes and I took one bite and knew. I asked her and shesad they are real, they came out of a box. Needless to say I didn't even make it out of the place before I needed to use the restroom. I guess it served them right! (she said)
  25. The funny thing ianm is that the couple of times I cheated (long ago) it didn't taste that great. I really don't miss it and really don't miss the symptoms. I think the one thing I do miss is the socializing that our culture does around food. Does that make sense? Anyway, I like the way you say things right to the point or the heart. It's good!
