  1. You are right Shirley, it is about the choices we make. I only eat chicken and fish, but the poultry industry is just as bad (or good) as the beef industry. If I wasn't so skinny, I'd be a vegetarian. Or in a dream world if I lived in a place where I could grow all of my own food, I would.
  2. I think that is what I am going to have to do too.
  3. I just watched a documentary on the beef industry in Canada and the US and I don't think you want to know what is in ground beef. I wouldn't eat it. You could buy some organic beef steaks and grind them yourself for an expensive ground beef.
  4. The brands I get up here are 100% pure corn starch.
  5. You could try quinoa flakes as an oat substitute.
  6. Does anyone know of any gluten-free rice cakes? I was eating the Quaker ones everyday because I thought they guaranteed their rice cakes. Oops.
  7. I noticed that you had the Kinnikinnick products in the fridge for two weeks. Their products must be kept frozen or they spoil (unless of course you take a couple of slices for lunch).
  8. I would be worried about the Lactancia topping because they are owned by Parmalat and they won't guarantee any of their products as being gluten-free. Becel is safe. Sorry I can't help you with the salt thing.
  9. It may be different in Canada, but I was told that only the 100% juice by Minute Maid is gluten-free. The rest go with the Coca-Cola U.S. Codex standard. Here is the e-mail response I got: Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company, parent Company of Minute Maid. We are able to confirm that Coca-Cola classic, caffeine free Coca-Cola classic...
  10. Carolyn, I'm with you regarding not feeding your pets Alpo brand. I just did some research on how pet foods are made. Wow, pretty depressing and gross. I love researching things, but sometimes ignorance is bliss! If only I too could forget some of the things I have seen and read. I would not go anywhere near IAMS or Eukanuba (no offence anyone, just...
  11. I find that gluten-free baking is similar to making quick breads, not typical wheat flour breads. I don't know if this makes any sense. I have had no problem with muffins, loaves, pancakes and that sort of thing, but I have not been completely satisfied with other baking from scratch.
  12. I know that you can use the Featherlight Rice Four mix in exchange for wheat flour in recipes. The ingredients are very similar to what you described (rice flour-1 part, tapioca flour-1 part, cornstarch-1 part, potato flour-1 tsp. per cup). I think you would be able to use the mix you have.
  13. I've made the Celimix pancakes to which I have added blueberries or other frozen fruit. I think they taste gret the next day whether toasted or not. I'm sure they would freeze well. Celimix is mostly rice four so I'm sure made from scratch pancakes would be cheaper yet similar in taste.
  14. I haven't had any problems with parchment paper either.
  15. If you want a better quality pet food without any grains, try Natural Balance. Most pet foods from the grocery stores have grains. You can get good quality pet foods at pet supply type stores.
  16. In the short time that I have been gluten-free, my Superstore has never had that item. I have to buy the Nature's Path ones. Superstore does have some gluten-free corn puffs though.
  17. I eat the Christie plain rice thins (made by Kraft) everyday and the ingredients are definitely gluten-free. Maybe in Eastern Canada they are simply labelled Kraft, not Christie? I know Quaker rice cakes are gluten-free. I'm pretty sure Kingsmill is a 100% gluten-free manufacturer.

    ARCHIVED Homeopathic Doctors

I was young, stupid, newly married and living with the in-laws who had a homeopathic friend! Believe me I would not do the same now. I know what you are saying. I look into everything that enters my body now. I'm much older and wiser! LOL

    ARCHIVED Homeopathic Doctors

Homeopaths will not divulge what is in the white pill. They just assure people that it will help. I took some for a bladder infection. Yeah right, I tried it with an open mind but eventually went to a doctor to get antibiotics because the white pill did nothing.
  20. I use only the green label McCormick spices in the small expensive jars. These ones are supposed to be the safest. It's too bad because Costco has the large less expensive Club House spices which are made by McCormick.
  21. LLRD I was diagnosed with IBS too. It took me about four months of being gluten-free before my bm's became normal. Give it some more time and you should have a better idea if glutn is the culprit.
  22. Presidents Choice soy sauce is not gluten-free. There is a mistake on the Canadian Products list. According to the Lactaid website only two products are gluten-free, but the list says that all Lactaid products are gluten-free.
  23. Last year there was a virus going around where I live that caused dizzy symptoms.
  24. My husband is very understanding luckily, but he really came around with the cross contamination issue when he saw the incredible improvement in my health, mood, etc. Now he tries to be very careful.
  25. Matilda, I had the exact pattern of stools that you are describing. It was kind of strange actually. I had that transition in the first two months.
