  1. ROFLMAO!!! Nancy
  2. Bastards! Nancy
  3. No answers, but I've wondered about this too. Maybe it's just something science hasn't figured yet. Nancy
  4. That's AWESOME!!! I hope she can help you figure it out! Nancy
  5. I'm praying for her... Nancy
  6. I would be furious! It would make me wonder if they aren't quite taking it seriously. I've been really lucky with my daughter's preschool. I don't think they completely understand, but they also completely believe me. I was actually thinking about taking her out for a few months, but they were so on board with me and willing to do whatever it took,...
  7. On her Be on the Show section Open Original Shared Link there's a link toward the bottom called "Got an allergen-free recipe?" When you click the link, theres a form to fill out, and the blurb at the top says - "If you or your child is allergic to dairy, peanut butter, or any food at all, you've probably gotten pretty creative with your recipes. From...
  8. I used to get really bad headaches pretty much every day with light and sound sensitivity. Now the only time I get them is when I get glutened. It's certainly worth a shot. Nancy
  9. For our wedding, nobody bought off the registry. I think we got two presents from the registry. Which I actually didn't mind. But what so many people got us was wine glasses. We ended up with over 50 wine glasses. My personal rule when I buy people presents that I'm not sure about is that it has to easily fit in either a drawer or on a...
  10. Oh my gosh! Of course! Let us know how it turns out! Nancy
  11. Make sure you bring something for dessert too... It doesn't even have to taste that good. You just have to make it LOOK like it does. I love food revenge.... MWA-HAHAHAHAAAA....!!! Nancy
  12. I know. Isn't this a bizarre situation we've all found ourselves in? I just bought Chinese Food for Dummies. It's written by Martin Yan from the Yan Can Cook (cooking show on PBS). He also has a website with a few recipes www.yancancook.com . He even has recipes for making sauces like sweet and sour sauce. Just remember to read labels on...
  13. I'd try Bob's too. I've used it with total success in making stuff like gravy, bechamel sauces, cheese sauces, etc. It works 1:1 in those cases. I've never tried it with that much in a recipe though so not sure if there's an odd taste that might come up. With gravy and sauces though you honestly can't tell the difference between that and regular flour...

    ARCHIVED Gluten Sucks!

Sucks is right! Hope you feel better soon! Nancy
  15. I've run into a lot of uncertainty from bathroom products manufacturers when I ask them about these things. Because labeling laws aren't the same as with food, most manufacturers of bathroom products are less sure about the gluten-free status of their items. They buy a lot of their ingredients from suppliers and don't know the gluten-free status of those...
  16. I get jittery sometimes too. It's one extreme or another for me. Either I'm fighting to stay awake, or I'm so jittery I feel like my brain is buzzing. Hope you feel better. Nancy
  17. FINE!! I'll just flip a U-turn now. Whatever... I was halfway to Minnesota too! Dangit! I made BLTs this weekend. Actually, they were just BLs. Didn't have any tomatoes, and we ate the bacon and lettuce sandwiches before we even got a chance for either of us to get to the store... Didn't miss the tomatoes much......
  18. I know what you mean. Thank God for the internet. Seriously. If it wasn't the ads on the sides of search pages, I never would have heard about celiac. It's scary where I would have been.... and where most of us here would have been without search engines... {shudder...} When I first went gluten-free, I felt like I had a full-body transplant...
  19. Gluten-free Big Macs? You're kidding ... Finland, here I come...

    ARCHIVED Snacks

Sorry Cody. I didn't see this originally. I know there are other flavors of Doritos that are gluten-free (not the classic Nacho unfortunately...) I'm not sure what the other ones are. I'm a Cool Ranch girl, myself. I buy the Ener-G Wheat Free Crackers, which are also gluten-free. They remind me a LOT of Carr's Water Crackers. They don't crumble...
  21. Oh Man... Those look SO good. Nancy

ARCHIVED Recommend A Doctor In You State

Patricia Chen, MD Internal Medicine Citrus Heights, CA Doesn't think she's God. Considers the doctor patient relationship a team. Wants to hear what you have to say. Never made me feel like I was a hypochondriac. Dr. Vallero, MD GI Roseville and Carmichael, CA Didn't make me feel like a hypochondriac. Didn't seem too sold on the celiac...
  23. Thank you for sharing your story. It's amazing isn't it? All of a sudden, everything adds up. Even the stuff you didn't know was related to each other. Welcome to the board! Nancy
  24. I definitely have problems with personal care products like shampoo. I never realized how much I mess with my hair until I figured out my favorite conditioner had gluten in it. I was sure I didn't have to worry about it, but once I paid attention to how often I touched my hair, and then having to wash my hands just because I touched my hair. It was so...
